Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

I think I know where this is going. There is a constant theme running through the new shows about space. In a previous show J&K were looking at property to build a new home. I think they are in the process of building and when the new home is completed the show will be over. I think they are realizing the price of fame and the loss of privacy. This is only my opinion and I pray I am totally wrong. I would love for the show to continue so we can see just who these adorable little kids will become.

I might get flamed but I slap my husband frequently..I never hurt him and we really are just joking with each other..he honestly does not mind. I see a lot of myself in Kate and so does my husband..I told him what people have said that she treats her husband horribly and he disagrees and so do I. I think it's just the way their relationship is. My husband and I have the same kind of relationship.

I'm not sure if this was in a new or repeat episode...I can't believe how she slaps Jon. He plays it off well but can you imagine if the tables were turned and he play-love-slaped her? I think she has a screw loose.

Hmmm.....I think adults, that's one thing, when there are kids in the family, that's another. Parents are modeling acceptable adult behavior. These days kids can get into substantial trouble at school for being even a little physical. I see lots of potential problems ahead for children who think this is "normal".

Ok ok She was at the Giant in Wyomissing area, she had no camera or kids. I hate to ruin anyones fun but I work at the hospital where she used to work and "others" say she wasnt very nice. Yes she looked good hair was done to a "T". I was afraid of how she would react to my own kids. They were chewing gum!!! LOL

GUM??? Horrors!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

We have 2 sons and I totally get the point you're making but we are careful to show our boys how much we love each other and that I'm not really "hurting" their dad and it's never done out of anger. I think that's the difference. Kate doesn't seem to be smacking Jon in the face and screaming at him.

no gum chewing.....and no helmets!
Speaking of modeling behavior, shouldn't Jon be wearing a helmet while rollerblading and the girls be wearing one when riding a scooter?
My girls watch the show faithfully and that was the first thing they pointed out. I love this show and Jon and Kate too, so I don't like to judge them in anyway, but I was surprised about it since she's so picky about everything else, (in a good way!) for the benefit of the kids.

I know Kate has said that it is here desire to have the show be real, they are who they are and all that. But if I were her, there is NO way last night's new episode would have aired.

She was being way beyond impossible to please....even for Kate.

And no I am not bashing her, I happen to like both her and Jon. I loved watching the hide and seek, that was too cute!

Please know I understand your point. My kids, though, when they were little would have likely "played" what they saw-especially if there is laughing, fun. Schools go a little overboard these days. I would hate for a kid to sort of play...and end up in trouble. (Even in preschool...we have gone a bit off the deep end, haven't we....)
No comment on anyone's parenting, I promise. :goodvibes

Love the show. Watched tonight with the kids playing and Jon telling Kate she doesn't play with her kids-wowsers! She needs to really chill and enjoy the kids because they aren't small forever.
I couldn't agree more!!! I love the show, but the last two (new) episodes have me shaking my head at Kate. I hate when any parents sits in a chair and barks out orders at others and won't get off their a**.

Was she in the organics section?:rotfl2:
Good one!!!!!! :rotfl:

The no helmet thing surprised me too!!! I think a helmet is more important than say, NOT chewing gum or ever eating candy

I gotcha and I completely agree with what you're saying especially about school.:)

did you catch it when one of the twins remarked (in the episode where they did the narrations) after the outdoors play something like 'daddy was playing with us and mommy was sitting in her chair giving him orders-daddy does'nt like it when she does that':rotfl2: and then i swear i thought the same twin made a comment about 'mommy was being queen bee again':scared1:

seemed like in last nites episode there was a lot more arguing-there was the arguing outdoors and then it seemed like jon and kate were arguing when the little ones were playing preschool (they wandered out of the room they were in to show them some 'projects' they were making and jon looked pretty angry and was yelling something about 'there is no postoffice you're'-they cut it off pretty quickly when the kids and the cameras came in though.

thought it was pretty funny that while the show normaly does printed captioning with words or conversations that are muffled or hard to hear-they did'nt do it with any of the bickering outside (and the sound quality was so lousy you could'nt understand what they were saying half the time).

I was really surprised about the kids not wearing helmets..Kate is so strict about everything else..that's one rule we do not bend for anything in my house!!

Yup, lots of aired arguing :scared1: Pretty sad when your 7 year old is calling you a Queen Bee! :rolleyes1
I'll still watch next week. I did not get to see them on the actual Oprah show, so I am interested.

I've finally turned the corner when it comes to Kate. She now bugs me to no end. (I love the show though)

I know her life is tough - but she makes it harder on herself. No you do not need to sweep your floor 3 times a day sorry. Stain removal taking hours? Has she never heard of Shout or Oxy Clean? I have three kids and have NEVER had a problem getting normal day to day stains out of their clothing. Her anal retentive tendancies makes her life harder and she wants sympathy for all that work? Nope not going to get it. Sometimes you have to put your quirks on the back burner so you can ENJOY your children.

I am also tired of her patting herself on the back for being so busy and important because she has 8 kids. Is Jon not busy as well? He's earning a living then comes home and still works. Just because he's not home with kids all day doesn't mean his life is a cake walk. Yes Kate playing with the kids IS more important than cleaning out your garage. Instead of sitting there and yelling to Jon to move some PLASTIC tables - move em yourself.

AND - finally - she pissed me off when she wouldn't even try rollerblading because she's a "Mother of 8". What if a mother of 1 broke her leg - is that ok? Would that family not have huge adjustments to make if that mother were hurt? A mother being out of comission is a huge issue no mater how many kids you have.

In Kate's mind it appears that she believes herself to be above everybody else and she's MORE important because she has more children than most.

Sorry I am just not buying it. I know she's busy - I do think she handles the stress better than I could and I know having 8 children is busier than having 3- but she needs to come down a peg or two.

Is there any way that the OP could edit the title so that it is Jon and Kate PLUS 8, intead of Jon & Kate make 8....we're cheating them out of 2 kids!

In that episode she explained that when she was younger she fell during skating and was hurt. That was why she wouldn't try the rollerblading. And her fear of being out of commission probably also stems from that previous experience of trying something like skating and getting hurt.

Last night Kate really reminded me of my mom. Especially at the part where she was yelling at Jon to clean the garage while he was playing with the kids. I could see my mom do that.

She didn't really fear being out of commission when she had that tummy tuck a while back! :)

:rotfl: Great post! She is getting to me finally, too! Maybe a nice anti-anxiety is in order for her ;)
Maybe she wouldn't roll blade because she didn't want to look like a dope on national tv? Oh wait, she did that the past two weeks just by the way she was acting :scared1:

Yep so true. OT but my DH throws snowballs at my son in the winter and what did my ds7 do? Go to school and get in a snow ball fight with some boys. They were all sent to the principals office. I told DH it's your fault you were just throwing them at him the other day.
