Ok I have to say I'm not a faithful watcher of this show,I try to catch it when I can...but....have you guys ever seen Mady get disciplined? The little kids they get in trouble and they have to go sit on that rug by the door for a time out. What about Mady? I see her cry and throw a tantrum and then she usually gets her way. When do they ever discipline her? The one episode I'm thinking of was a 4th of July one I think? where she wanted to wear her sandals and for some reason Kate said no but then Mady pitched a fit then all of a sudden she had them on and Kate said something to the effect it just wasn't worth it. I'm not saying they have to beat the kid but I'd let her know her behaviour isn't appropriate, I just don't see that happening with her, or am I missing it? Thoughts

i don't envy the preschool or kindergarten teacher that ends up with any of the little ones-i can't imagine how kate will react when the kids come home with the inevitable fingerpaint, marker and other art smudges on their clothes. i also wonder if she's going to mandate that the kids have to abstain from any treats other kids bring in for bdays and such since they're unlikely to be organic and she does'nt like them to realy ever have sweets in the first place.

Didn't Kate talk about the possibility of homeschooling the sextuplets? I thought she mentioned that in one of the older shows. Wow...can you imagine?? How can she possibly do that and keep up with the laundry? ;) oh and I think it was Cara not Mady making a fuss about the sandals before the zoo trip.

Editing, editing, editing...makes for a different reality. I noticed simple things like showing them sipping their drinks through a straw and the next scene shows them unwrapping the straws to put them in their drinks. What aren't we being shown that would put an end to our speculations?

I didn't hear that. Maddy and Cara go to a private school so I am sure the little kids would do the same. The tution for 6 more kids at a private school would be exorbitant. My friend handles homeschooling 7 kids, all different grades, quite well (God bless her). Having them all in the same grade and being well organized would go a long way in making it "easier".

i don't know why, but i always figured the twins went to public school. maybe it's becuase they show them getting on and off a school bus and wearing what i equate with public school clothing (no uniforms or the modified uniform colored clothing items that seem to be popular with most private schools).

i agree it would be very expensive for them all to attend a private school, but if they could reasonably afford it at least most offer significant discounts when you get to that many kids within one family attending (ours by the time you reach 4 kids in one family is charging 50% less tuition for #4 and beyond).

You're right about that now - they do appear to be going to a public school. But I thought in a show a while back (maybe the one where Cara & Mady first started school), I thought they were shown wearing some type of uniform - white blouses, navy skirts.:confused3

the only reason i can even remember what i noticed them wearing to school is because on one of the recent episodes kate was talking about maddie's personality and how sometimes she's in 'a mood' after school and they just have to let her wind down-then they showed a couple of scenes where she came stomping in the door (i assumed after getting off the school bus from the context of the voice over), kicking stuff on the floor and storming off to her room-i just remember her clothing looking more like what i equate with public school clothing (cuz it would'nt have passed for what my kids when they attended a private school that had uniforms or a modified uniform code were permitted to wear).

man oh man-beyond the cost of tuition for 8 kids to go to private school, the cost of uniforms would be a killer!!!! i know some parents feel it's cheaper to uniform kids for school, but that sure was'nt the case for us (largly because the school ours attended would only permit you to buy the very expensive ones from the uniform company). and can you imagine having to iron all those little blouses and shirts???? no way you could do the laundry and let it stack up for a week until a volunteer came over to do the ironing (if i remember right she had one lady who did the folding, another who did the physical putting away of the stuff and then either the second lady or a third helped with the ironing).

Ooh - if I'm thinking of the same clip, that was actually from the show where Kate had decorated the house for the twins' birthday and those were the balloons that Mady was kicking.:sad2: But, anyway, now I thought it looked like she was wearing a uniform in that one. In future ones, it does look like they're wearing regular playclothes. Who knows? I have some friends whose kids go to private schools and they don't wear uniforms.

I don't think they go to public school. We have seen them wearing uniform type clothing like you said plus I remember one episode where Kate talked about ironing the school clothes and she had them on a line in the laundry room. Lots of white and khaki. Another clue is the bus - it's a small bus and it stops right at their house. A public school more than likely would have a standard sized bus and a bus stop.

The only students in this area that wear uniforms are private school students. And the girls are wearing a uniform as a pp said. A white polo shirt and navy skirt or pants. Everytime they show the girls getting off the bus, they are wearing that uniform. And if the Gosselin's live in my vicinity(Lanc. Co), the public school system has to provide transportation even if they attend private school. I went to a parochial school until I was in 8th grade and rode a public school bus everyday. The girls probably attend a church run school. Tuition at church run schools are generally cheaper than other type of private schools.

I thought I have seen them going to school in "regular" clothes -- anyway, thanks for clearing it up!

Maybe they were having a casual day or field day. I know on cold days, I would wear a pair of pants/jeans under my skirts. But I know for sure I have seen the girls wearing uniforms, numerous times.

boy, i would kill to get public funded transportation for my kids to go to private school-that's unheard of here or where we previously lived.

That was how it was when I went to parochial school when I was little. We rode the public school bus. The only down side was that our school started the same time as the junior/high school kids so we had to ride with them, but there were never any problems.

We didn't have to ride with the public school kids. We had our own bus. So, we had maybe 30 kids on one big school bus. But that was only done because we lived in a different school district than where our parochial school was located.

Well you pay taxes don't you? Our taxes support the public schools and their services. They should be providing transportation for all children to go to school.:thumbsup2
In our area, the public school system busses all the children. Public and private school kids. :woohoo:
I never knew there was any other way.:confused3

There are a quite a few parachial schools in the area that I live so it was easier for those kids to just ride with the public school kids than to have different busses for each one. Once we arrived at the high school, some of the parochial school kids got off and then transferred to another bus that took them to their school. Though for my school we got off at the junior high school since it was across the street. There were some kids who went to my school that lived outside of the school district and their parents had to arrange for transporation, but most of the kids lived within the school district and were eligible to take the public school bus.

Move to PA. You can send your child to any school you want & your school District had to provide transportation. It was that way when I was a kid too. It seems fair to me. Your paying thousands in school taxes & just using the bus. It is a great deal for the school district.

The twins do go to private school

Long Island too, at least Suffolk County anyway. There is a mileage restriction but it's very generous.
