I still think the show is over. The only way it will go on is if Jon changes his mind and I doubt that will happen. JMO, but Jon seems to really care about what the public thinks of him. If he changed his mind, he must know his fans would hate him. Although I have to say that when he first brought this up, I thought he was stupid enough to just be doing it for a pay off.

I do enjoy the show and never thought it was harmful to the kids. However, with the divorce and how their parents are tabloid magnets now, the show needs to end so the kids can get a break. The live streaming on Mady and Cara's birthday was way too much.

No worries. I kind of went off on my own little tangent, sorry about that. I just feel strongly about this whole mess and I didn't mean to single you out even though I quoted your post! I hope there's no hard feelings. :goodvibes

No worries. :goodvibes

Direct quote from the article:

"What will need to happen in order for this move to become a reality? Jon Gosselin will first of all have to allow the network to resume filming the children; as of right now, there doesn't appear to be much of a chance of this happening."

Hooray!!!

But that next sentence and what follows says a lot too. It says to me, what is TLC willing to do to make this show continue:

TLC may have to eventually re-introduce Jon into the equation in order to make it work. Otherwise, we may be dealing with a show simply entitled "Kate" in the near future. Jon has fallen out of favor the past several months with much of the show's viewing audience, partially due to allegations of everything from infidelity to trying to promote his own properties on the show.

The important thing for us remember here is that TLC isn't giving up just yet; even if everyone is saying that "Jon and Kate Plus 8" is dead, the network is still holding its breath.

On one hand Jon does seem to care what the public thinks. On the other based on so many of his actions, he doesn't. I also think it boils down to what Hailey instructs Jon to do at this point.

ITA with the bold part of your post.

Gee, I went away for less than an hour and you guys have added another 3 pages. Anyways, the article in People about Stephanie confirms the statement made by Kate's rep -- it came from 1 of her law firms, and Mark Heller's response:
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20313161,00.html

Be careful though -- everytime I tried to click on their website today I got a virus message. It must be ok now or I wouldn't have gotten in.

So the network is holding its breath? Big deal! I'm not! :woohoo:

Here's another article about Kate Plus 8 not being canceled but it also says

"If this works out, we will film the kids again," Goldberg said. "No matter what, we're doing a show with Kate."

Source: http://www.seattlepi.com/tvguide/411194_tvgif15.html

I think that's good news! She has a job lined up so hopefully that means no moving or anymore big changes for the kids.

Hey Redrosesix,

What was that link to the interview with Jon after the court date where he looked like he still loved Kate? I didn't get a chance to see it and can't find it now. Thanks! :goodvibes

If Kate (or Jon) can get a show WITHOUT the kids being filmed or involved, I'm all for it! :thumbsup2

Ya know, if it was Jon, I might watch once in a while just because he is such a bafoon, that it might be funny once in a while....I don't think I could stomach Kate on her own

LOL, have you ever watched the show Hoarders? I can imagine Kate's reaction if she stepped into a house like that! :rotfl:

Being on reality TV is certainly not a normal job. (Look at all the celebs who've gotten divorced while on a reality tv show). Honestly, if it weren't for the kids, J&K wouldn't even have this job. It doesn't matter that they're promoting camping equipment, crooked houses, etc. The kids are what makes the show, not the product placements or happy companies who get extra business because of the show. Why should J&K live off their kids? That's not normal. Sadly, the Dionne Quintuplets situation is hauntingly similar now to the Gosselin kids. It's ridiculous IMO to make them film for several days a week (this season was supposed to have 40 episodes) and think that's ok because the kids are just 'playing'. Now 80% of their money is in a revocable trust which, as we've all learned, means J&K can dip into it if need be. This is not a normal family job. I think J&K have been exploiting their beautiful kids and IMO will most likely cause them emotional damage in the long run. Imagine Collin 10 or 20 years from now watching the famous constipation episode. Or how they were all horribly sick with the flu, sleeping on the floor while their parents went out of town for Jon's hairplugs. Or how about Kate over reacting all the time. Or berating Jon. All of these things are forever on film now, what a lovely keepsake from their childhood. Who wants to see their parents that way? But I guess it's ok because apparently it was the ONLY job J&K could get in order to provide for their kids. :sad2:

IMO Kate is very ungracious and rude. There have been many reports of this from people at her events and such. Heck, why do you think Jen the producer and all the camera crew left J&K+8? I do think she believes she is entitled to things, look at the way she treated Jon. Yes he's pretty much an idiot but you don't treat someone you love the way she did. It was rude, hateful and disrespectful. Of course Jon retaliated in his own way too but Kate was just plain mean IMO.

How is it working 'smarter' when you're demanding, ungracious and willing to sacrifice your children's privacy for money? That's actually the opposite of smart in my book. When all is said and done, I wonder if Kate will think all of this was worth it. Her marriage is broken, her life is in shambles and her kids have been on reality TV for 4 years. IMO she'll probably feel a lot of regret and wonder why she thought all of this was necessary. Especially for how she treated Jon and how she talked about the divorce and what her kids were going through, what they said, etc. What a mess. :sad2: My hope is that the kids will be able to deal with all of these issues and not resent their parents.

ITA with everything. Great post :thumbsup2

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:headache::headache:

Oh good grief.:sad2: Hasn't TLC done enough damage? Why put out information that they're hopeful Kate+8 will resume? Leave the family alone and let them heal for crying out loud. This just further demonstrates to me that TLC doesn't give a hoot about the Gosselins, not a bit. Shame on them. They make me sick. If Jon goes back and let's the filming resume, he is nothing but a lying scumbag. I hope he stands by what he said and doesn't let the $ blind him, again.

Exactly. :headache:

You mean the part where he says: i looked over at her and I wanted to talk to her. She was wearing.... :lmao:

Sorry -- I watched it on ET, and ETOnline doesn't have the full interview. Unfortunately, the part you're looking for isn't on the part that they have the link to.

If I find it, I'll post it :goodvibes

Kate's Interview with Good Housekeeping

http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/family/celebrity/kate-gosselin-divorce

Good interview:

How does that attitude translate in terms of your relationship with Jon?

KG: Our relationship is getting there. I had a peaceful conversation with him yesterday. That doesn't happen all the time, but my goal is peace. Honestly, when I speak to him on the phone or see him in person, if I'm able to just picture the old Jon, I'm all right. I'm just leaving aside the hurt and the pain and the yuckiness of it. Because I don't want to argue; I don't want war. I don't want it for the kids, and I don't want the exhaustion of it. I just want solutions and resolution, and so I have to conduct myself in a certain manner.

That is what I thought she said before on the Today show. She didn't say she wouldn't speak to him until it was the old Jon, she said she pictures the old Jon and it helps.

Big difference.

Didn't Stephanie's mother give all this info in her interview about a month ago? I wonder why now, they deem it as possibly credible, not to mention giving computer whiz Jon all that extra time to hack emails and gather info? ;)

About Kate + 8 continuing, they cannot film the children without Jon's permission. If he doesn't give it, they will not proceed with the kids, however they can film Kate all they want. I'm sure TLC is working Jon hard to relent, we can only hope he will not. All TLC can see is dollar signs, but at this point so many; even in the mainstream media have declared it child abuse to keep filming these kids.

I don't know why all of a sudden Kate's team is giving credence to Stephanie -- maybe they figure they're on a roll and need to score some more points before the custody hearing. Or maybe it's because Stephanie mentioned contacting Kate. :confused3

As for the future of the kids on TV, I agree with you that TLC is probably working hard on Jon. But IMO, Kate is the only one with leverage that counts -- let's see, promising not to ask for full custody, letting him sleep in the garage apartment on Christmas and birthdays, bringing the dogs back.

Ya know, if it was Jon, I might watch once in a while just because he is such a bafoon, that it might be funny once in a while....I don't think I could stomach Kate on her own

I'm pretty sure my DH would watch a cooking show with Jon and a chef ie. a dads' cooking show -- it would be less intimidating for him than the cooking shows that DD and I watch.

Awards shows won’t hire Jon, even for free

By Courtney Hazlett
The Scoop
msnbc.com

The odds that Jon Gosselin soon could slip into obscurity are increasing, and not just because there’s an end in sight for “Jon & Kate Plus Eight.”

The reality-show dad reportedly has approached awards shows with requests to appear as a presenter, and has been turned down by at least two productions, according to producers.

And while Gosselin was asking for appearance fees in the $30,000 range as recently as September, he’s now offering to present for free, asking only to have travel and accommodations covered.

“There was absolutely no interest in having him be a part of our show, no matter how much it was not going to cost us,” said one producer. “He thinks he can attach himself to any project that has cameras. I guess he doesn’t realize that the world is not his personal reality show.”

I wouldn't watch either one - but at least they would be supporting the kids - instead of the kids supporting them (providing they could actually draw an audience, that is)..

Maybe this is a stretch, but does anyone else think TLC could have paid for school? Would it be like the same thing as studios paying for actors to be taught on set?
I don't know, and don't want to be taken as fact. Just something to ponder.

no. if TLC were paying, they would have to get something out of the deal .. and I don't see them spending the money on private school. they would have paid for tutors and had Kate consider homeschooling.

You're right -- those were the exact same words she used in the first Today Show interview. But in the most recent one, in response to Meredith Viera asking about the possibility of mediation, Kate just said that Jon had gone "way far off the trail" and she was hoping she'd receive a phone call some day and the old Jon would be back ie. the one who wouldn't stop TLC from filming the kids, I guess.
