Awards shows won’t hire Jon, even for free

The odds that Jon Gosselin soon could slip into obscurity are increasing, and not just because there’s an end in sight for “Jon & Kate Plus Eight.”

The reality-show dad reportedly has approached awards shows with requests to appear as a presenter, and has been turned down by at least two productions, according to producers.

And while Gosselin was asking for appearance fees in the $30,000 range as recently as September, he’s now offering to present for free, asking only to have travel and accommodations covered.

“There was absolutely no interest in having him be a part of our show, no matter how much it was not going to cost us,” said one producer. “He thinks he can attach himself to any project that has cameras. I guess he doesn’t realize that the world is not his personal reality show.”

The sooner he realizes his future is not in television, the sooner he'll get a real job. I've said it before, but I'd like to see one of these parents get a normal job, to set an example for their kids because all 8 of them are not going to have their own reality show when they grow up.

Ok, that was just weird. Does she still think nobody knows she has 2 full-time nannies because she talks about having to get up and get breakfast for the kids. And she makes it sound like the only time she is away from them is when it's Jon's custody days.

But I guess most people who read this article wouldn't be aware of the contradictions.

But that next sentence and what follows says a lot too. It says to me, what is TLC willing to do to make this show continue:


TLC may have to eventually re-introduce Jon into the equation in order to make it work. Otherwise, we may be dealing with a show simply entitled "Kate" in the near future. Jon has fallen out of favor the past several months with much of the show's viewing audience, partially due to allegations of everything from infidelity to trying to promote his own properties on the show.

makes me wonder what happened with the Paula Deen pilot. it wasn't long after she filmed that did TLC announce the Kate Plus 8 and the possibility of future projects ...

Was that supposed to be on another network or on TLC, because I'm surprised that TLC allowed her to go through with it if it wasn't for them. Maybe she just did that to get a better deal for her own show with TLC?

You're right -- those were the exact same words she used in the first Today Show interview. But in the most recent one, in response to Meredith Viera asking about the possibility of mediation, Kate just said that Jon had gone "way far off the trail" and she was hoping she'd receive a phone call some day and the old Jon would be back ie. the one who wouldn't stop TLC from filming the kids, I guess.

Many people that are going through a divorce describe the other person as "not the person they married", they feel as if they don't even know the person they were married to anymore and want the "old" person back. She wants to talk to the guy that was her help mate, her spouse, the one she fell in love with. Not this 20 something wannabe that hangs out with any skank that will give him the time of day. She wants Jon...not Mr. Convenient Epiphany.

The article about Jon and the award shows was interesting. How do you go about that? Just call 'em up on the phone ... "Hey I'll come and give an award on your show if you fly me there and put me up in a nice hotel." I think Jon's going to have it rough in the next couple years. Celebrity Fit Club, I'm telling you....

Yes, you're right about that, but she didn't want Jon when he was the one she had (just) remarried. And that was long before any of those things you mentioned that made most of us dislike him.

So, I often think she's just saying that about wanting to talk to the "old Jon"

That's pretty much what I was thinking too.

As for them getting back together -- each and every day, one of them does something that the other may never forgive. It's sad that they can't even be friends now.

Re Steve: something I found out tonight when Jon was on ET (AGAIN ) -- he's from New Zealand -- nice accent And he's taller than Kate, which is always convenient.

BTW, tonight Jon didn't talk about Steve as if Kate had had an affair. Maybe he's finally started reading here. I'm sure it will take some time, if he is, but I think we could get him on the right track eventually.

I find that funny and we don't even have that show here.

Tina Fey was on Access Hollywood tonight, they asked if she was Team Kate or Team Jon. She said she's Team Kate! (I was surprised) she said she's watched the show from the beginning and once in awhile her husband would watch and comment that Kate was kind of mean to Jon. She said she told him that she had to be, she has 8 kids and her husband is an idiot.

"If this works out, we will film the kids again," Goldberg said. "No matter what, we're doing a show with Kate."

ITA. My ex left and went on a partying binge. Six months later he wanted to come back and "work on the marriage". NO way was I taking him back; no telling how many skanks he had slept with by then!

I would be willing to bet there will be some "clause" or something in all this mediation/arbitration that Jon will cooperate - even if it's for additional money from Kate or to get something else he wants. Kate and her team are pretty smart and won't just let Jon have the last say on this IMO.

I thought Jon said in one of his interviews that the "morning" nanny (I can't remember the terms he used now - sorry!) was there from 5:30 until the kids went to school and the "night" nanny was there from the kids getting off the bus until they went to bed. If that's correct, it's not like Kate always has two people there plus a parent (J or K) helping out. The way Jon made it sound, one parent and a nanny are there when the kids are there IIRC. (My notes in my top secrect work notebook are on Oct 6 - I must have been working on my time line that day - I've got several J&K notes jotted down )

See now I would think she wants the old Jon back so they're not screaming at each other and might be able to actually have a conversation about something. I can't imagine looking at the person you loved and having the other women he's been with (and said on national tv he loves more than he loved you!) running through my head and trying to have a conversation. I would have to try and picture the person I was with instead of the person they turned into or there's no way....
