He's ruining himself. And it is a shame.

I have no idea if he had been in negotiations to get the kids off during the divorce. He could have gone to family court, they would have given the kids their own lawyer, and if they found it detrimental, they would have been off. I think (my opinion) he used them as a bargaining chip, and still is.

I think there is one group of people who could set everybody straight on the timeline -- the LKL producers. Jon's lawyer stated that they had been in negotiations with them to do the show and announce that Jon was asking TLC not to film the kids at that time. I take it that the date of that show had not been determined until he made the announcement that they could not film at the house, given the statement by TLC. And Jon did receive a letter from TLC dated on the 25th of Sept that he would be held in breach of contract if he did the interview.

I could be remembering some of this wrong...:rolleyes1

I'm leaving to go camping now. Everyone slow down..my wifi will be iffy and my friends will only buy..exceuse me I have to go to the bathroom so many times in a day! :lmao:

I'm wondering if that interview was done a while (like a month? :lmao:) ago .. it sort of sounds like it.

I know that I'm posting late so this may have already been brought up. I was thinking the exact same thing. The bit about picturing the "old Jon" was also said during the Today interview.

It also struck me a bit odd that she says"And my best friend, Jamie — she's getting divorced, too, but is further along — reminds me that I will get through this. . Is this the same Jamie that is her bestest friend in the whole world and the one who's husband provided the kitchen makeover?

This quote caught me off-guard. Since I tend to dramatize things, I have taught myself to take a deep breath and ask if it's really as bad as it seems. (bolded by me for emphasis)

Everything obviously is affecting the children (at least Cara) since she's worried about the alarm being set every night. Do they still go to church every Sunday like they used to? I'm still breathing because I have faith. My faith and my kids are the two things that matter. I'm going through this with my kids right now. They kind of feel shaken, and "Jesus loves you, no matter what" comes up a lot. Cara started asking me every night, "Did you turn the alarm on?" I'd tell her, "Yes, I did." She's feeling a bit vulnerable, so we've had discussions about how it doesn't matter if it's on or not, Jesus is watching you, he's with you, and that comforts me.

Just my random thoughts about the interview.

The trust would still pay taxes, I would think. A trust is not a "not for profit" entity.

And the old house was not in trust. ;)

For us, yes the trust still pays taxes and maintence fees for the property and such. We have things tied up in a trust as part of an estate and a certain amount always has to remain in an account for the trust to cover things like damage to the property (one of the homes for example in our trust), taxes, landscaping, snow plowing, ect. If the amount falls below a certain number, everyone involved in the trust has to put in x amount to maintain the account. Generally someone's paid to "manage" the trust as well which is a money pit in my opinion! Our stuff has been tied up for just over three years. In our case, the popular opinion of those involved is that the person in charge of the trust is just sitting by making money off the trust and is in no hurry to get rid of anything in the trust, which drains the account associated with the properies and causes us to pay out more and more while properties sit empty that could be sold... Sorry for the rant! Can you tell we're a bit frustrated with the situation? :rolleyes1

So....if TLC could show actually paparazzi footage on their show (ie. the bus stop), then perhaps TLC's solution is simply to buy paparazzi footage of the family in public spaces (and actually, since Jon likes to talk to them---they could even record the children's coversations, etc) and use to to splice together a show with Kate's comments/interviews.

Not saying they should----but they could---and it would be legal---since TLC didn't do the filming!

I'm not at all familiar with divorce law but is there a chance that Kate will have to pay Jon support since he quit his job to stay home with the children while she worked (books, speaking...) while they were married?

Uhm, Jon has some responsbility for his own actions too.

He was the one caught with another woman (Deana, was it?) back in January. Not to mention his affair with Hailey. Maybe if he had used some discretion, things wouldn't have gotten so ugly so quickly.

Is it an affair if they were legally separated?

I'm sure that if that happens, we will see a drastic change is Kate's attitude towards them. ;)

I had thought that PA was a non-alimony state.

I know KAte had filed for spousal support, but that I thought was in direct relation to money that he took.

But I have no earthly clue.:goodvibes

Are they? I had wondered this a while back but I guess I never really looked into it all too much...

The separation paperwork was filed the day the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT EPISODE aired.

So they are legally separated.

As to when Jon's fling occurred---we don't really know. He just went public with it after the "announcement".

To me--you are married until you are divorced. So yes, I still classify it as adultery.

Not to mention his affair with Hailey.

OT
I will tell you what really bothers me is so often when any of the entertainment shows are reporting some new update on the Gosselins...they will show that family picture of the Gosselins all sitting on that bench at the 'Tups 5th birthday party...and we all knew watching that episode things were not going well with J&K...and there is Jon wearing a IU t-shirt....and that is where Hailey went to college "Indiana University"...how Jon thought that was one bit appropriate to wear to the 'Tups party, knowing it was being filmed...Kate probably had no idea at that point that that was Hailey's alma mater. :headache:

Ok, rant over, carry on.

I thought that they had filed for separation before he started dating Hailey but I could be wrong.

After posting, I did find something about spousal support in PA. From reading this link, it appears like Jon may have a claim but I have no experience with law or divorce so I could be way off.

I believe they are simply because of all of the interim agreements eg. custody arrangements, financial control, although they would not have to be considered separated to get the court appointed arbitrator etc -- that was part of the divorce proceedings.

But I don't know on what date they were considered legally separated according to PA law -- in my province, they would have been considered legally separated as of the date that Jon moved into the apartment over the garage ie. a separate self-contained dwelling. Issues like this become really important when they decide who is responsible for which debts, etc.

ETA: ok, now that we know that PA law doesn't recognize legal separation, none of this is relevant. Weird... :confused3

I meant to post this yesterday....And let me say, I don't believe it AT ALL, but at the grocery store yesterday I saw the new US Weekly cover and it said Jon and Kate's BFF Jamie are having an affair! :rotfl: They had a very small picture of Jamie on the cover that looked like it came from her FB pictures. The quote on the cover said Kate felt she had been stabbed through the heart.

I agree - I think "major" things in their life will be covered - graduation, marriages, ect probably along with any "mistakes" made but hopefully by that point (it's another like nine years before the twins graduate right?) people will be over the Gosselins and another generation will be watching it and not really know all the history so it will probably be just a little blip on the radar at that point in time.

I think the Gosselins children have a choice when they are older.

They can be like Mary Kate & Ashley who are famous from being child stars. They live in NYC & live the glamours life, have a clothing line & run an empire. They keep themselves in the spot light.

The Gosslens kids can also stay in Pa, live a quite life & no one but the local community will know what they are doing. Once in a while they will be a blip on the radar.

He might--who knows.

But since he opted to sleep in someone else's bed, Kate has that in her favor, I would think.

I also don't know if the kids are learning they get things for being on tv - the kids (the little ones more than the twins) may just think mom and dad plan these trips and the cameras come along. The planning stuff is probably a bit much to grasp with the little ones and who actually paid for/planned the outing.

They know now, if they didn't before. Kate went on the Today show and said how they had to cancel their NY trip b/c it wasn't being filmed. And then there was all the crying and wailing. That's one of the worst things about this mess...the kids will realize their lives were staged for a tv show!

About the TLC lawsuit, it's all about money. If Jon will sell the kids back to them, they will drop the lawsuit.
