Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread--Part 7

So I'm a bit perplexed as to why we would expect Kate to say something rude--just b/c it is honest.

because that's how Kate became so endearing to many people, unapologetically telling it like it is, rude or not.

whoever said that the answers were Kate's truth, were probably right. I'm sure there was TLC truth mixed in, as well. I'm getting ready to find the episode on Youtube and watch for myself.

I think JOdi used Radar and her sisters sight as an outlet because those were the only outlets available to her at the time. She was outraged by how Kate was making the kids lives ALL show andj systematically eliminating all else (including family) from their lives if it didn't fit her ajenda for the show. At the beginiing, major outlets wouldn't have given her the time of day, because the story wasn't as huge as it is now. That was the only way she had to get her voice heard. Now people are listening.

I can think of several other avenues she could have approached that would have been more professional, more classy, and more morally correct than the blogosphere of hate.

For half the things she feared, she could have quite easily informed corresponding authorities in her own crusade for the children's welfare.

Middle school gossiping on the internet?

Okay--gotta start my day and I may have reached my posting limit for the day on this thread.:lmao:

Kevin and Jodi have teamed up with Gloria Allread ...

well. it looks like they're speaking about protecting children in TV. That part I can argree with.

They spoke to the reunion, but that wasn't the whole point or focus of the interview, so I took away my rolling eyes. LOL.

I think they've picked crappy timing, though. Not sure if it was their choice or CBS. I'm also not sure if this would be considered a paid interview, given the nature of what was discussed.

I think it's wonderful that this topic is getting exposure. Any time is a good time to talk about protecting kids! This issue has been swept under the rug long enough.

I thought it was so sweet when one of the boys said:
"That horse looks like a cow!"

Then another one said: "That's cause it's a horse-cow!"

That was so cute & funny. Kate is much about herself, she's probably missing all those cute little moments. I wouldn't take all the money and fame to miss out on everything she is. In the 5th birthday episode, Collin was so cute when he was talking about what he liked most about the party, and he said "the chin-yata's". So adorable!

Maybe she isn't missing out on all those cute moments :confused3. In fact because it's now on tape, stuff that most of us would have missed (because we can't be there for all the cute moments for each kid) is now on tape and she'll have it forever.

I love that we have gotten to share some of these parts of the show. The kids saying cute things have been the best part.

2 weeks in a row with a Kate-centric episode? TLC is stretching this out for all that they think it's worth, I guess.

I hope they tread very carefully with 'Kate's side'. Might come back to bite 'em. I wonder if because she is under contract, and they can't film the kids, TLC has said, then this is what we'll do and she does it.

...maybe TLC will do a "Jon's side" in which he will sit blase on the couch and look dazed (more so then he does usually)

By the way, shots of jager last night, watching the episode. Good drinking game but woke up with Kate hair.

I did a general google search of the Gosselins this morning... several of the morning after recaps (including People magazine and other national media, not the usual Gosselin sites) weren't terribly kind to Kate.

I wonder what the connection is with Natalie Morales and TLC... and what kind of interview it will be?

If the show is done filming, why are Jodi & Kevin bothering with the lawyer?

If Kate + 8 starts up, if there are child protection laws in place, they will just be sure to follow them. It won't keep the kids off TV.

I think they are trying to get November in for sweeps.

Even if the show is dropped, they can still use the ratings to determine rates for ad-sales for other shows as a network that gets a bunch of viewers.

Very typical in the industry, whether or not exploitation is involved.;) Since they can't film the kids anymore--we get the pleasure of All-Kate, All-The-Time. Woooooooo!

Just what everyone wanted.:lmao:

that is, if people watch.

the last few weeks, ratings for JK8 have dropped, leveled off, then dropped again.

TLC has announced the schedule for November, which I guess is the end of JK8.

TLC also announced their November lineup for Jon & Kate Plus 8, which includes a best-of show Nov. 9; an episode titled "Gymnastics and Baseball" (along with an outtakes show) Nov. 16; and "It's a Crazy Life, But it's Our Life," which airs Nov. 23.

Sounds like they are wrapping it up. The last episode title is the slogan on their credits.

I had thought the ratings were going up a little since they were wrapping it up.

they dropped a bit, then dropped a little more, then rebounded for a week, but last week's were down again. 3 of the last 4 episodes have been under the 2 million viewer mark.

Jon hasn't granted permission for filming the kids that we know of. So they will be kept off tv unless Jon changes his mind.

As for Jodi and Kevin--I don't know. But it seems a day late and a dollar short.

I know people don't "care when or the motivations" of what takes place in protecting the children--but it seems that protecting the children you are related to at the time you perceive they aren't being treated well, is more important than protecting future children you aren't related to.

I don't know how else to put it and apologize if that doesn't come across the way I intended.

But if I see something broke, I should want to fix it NOW, not keep my mouth shut while it continues to get broken further.

Yeah, and then Aaden was like "Hi cow, we're from under sea!" :rotfl:

I thought it was kind of sad when Kate was talking about how the kids will come home from school and some of their classmates will tell them they watch their show.

Okay--gotcha.

But that's still a lot of viewers in cable land and still worth a pretty penny in ad sales for a cable network.

When I read the People recap, (I thought it was just that, a recap. I didn't think they commented negatively about it - or positively..just a recap).
I didn't bother reading others, because I know they must get more readers if they report negatively, so what's the point? I watched it, so I'll just go by what I thought.
