Well, maybe if they are shopping once a month and having it all delivered...does Kate even go to the grocery store now? I could see if maybe being used for the mortgage or tuition bills.

And I don't are what either of them spend on clothes...that is a blip on the radar screen compared to everything else going on.

There were pics of Kate a few weeks ago leaving a grocery store and some just last week leaving Target.

More than likely, he sent the letter via email to attorney's on is own staff. The letter was probably sent by messenger to Jon's attorney.

EDIT: I just noticed that the letter was sent via fax to Mr. Heller. My guess is that this a demand letter to put Mr. Heller and Jon on notice, not an actual legal filing.

I agree, the disclaimer at the end makes me think its not a actual legal filing and just a letter.

Wow, although I do think what Jon did was wrong (if he did in fact do it). What you just said is a complete slap in the face for those of us who stay home with our kids. And last time I checked, it was Kate's idea for Jon to stay home with them so she could travel. And I do believe that Beth wrote most of the book. I don't think she could write if her life depended on it, She doesn't even use correct words. So I guess in your little world the money my hubby makes isn't mine either. Well I got news for you , it is. And he will admit that most stay at home mom's or dad's work harder than anybody. RANT OVER.

I think you misinterpreted what I meant. Just for sake of argument I was a stay at home mom for 3 years; then I decided to start my own business so I could stay home and work which I have done for the last five years plus went to college, and now nursing school My intention was this: Jon and Kate have 8 children to support. In MY opinion Jon has done little over the last few years to contribute financially. According to reports and Jon himself I believe, he never wanted to do any speaking engagements etc. He didn't want to be a stay at home dad either so now he spends his days flying to France with Hailey, in Ed Hardy shirts, and hanging out with Michael Lohan what a dad! :scared1:

I have a question. Let me preface it by saying I know NOTHING about lawyers! Can an attorney email a letter to another officially? I thought things like that had to be mailed? :confused3

My brother's firm would send it by courier, although here fax would be ok for some documents especially if they were to be followed up by hard copy. The only documents we would get by email from the lawyers' offices would be notes, meeting requests, etc.

So then, (hypothetically) there should be a filing to follow this up? It will be interesting to see if that's the case or if this was just a smoke-filled screen of crap. Wow, didn't I put that eloquently?

so don't you only threaten and not file when you can't back it up?

I had a little incident over the summer where an attorney sent us an email threat (the nasty letter). The info in it was incorrect and we didn't even respond to it or stop what we were doing! Nothing ever came of it.

It was regarding a neighborhood right of way issue, and I knew I had done nothing wrong. that was the first time that ever happened to me, and I freaked a little, but soon realized it was just a threat to scare me (which it did) but they had no claim against us!

Let's wait to see what they file tomorrow.

Jon has been working on the "family job" the show for the last 2 years as well as staying home with the kids. Kate has been working the family job and doing book stuff. So, in fact, they both have been working 2 jobs.

Gee, that's not the way I remember it. When I first started watching the show the opening said that Jon worked in IT and that while Kate was a nurse, she was staying home to take care of the family. And then Jon was working for Beth's husband/working from home. And then the show was his job. I always thought that was a way of letting him save face since he couldn't keep a "real" job. Wasn't he just at home well before before Kate started the tours? I need to see a time line again, because it doesn't seem like Kate was on tour for all that long.

This is a sad situation all around.

Did anyone watch Jon on The Insider on Friday? I just read on another board that Jon talked about the last time they had sex. I can't find it on YouTube and wanted to know if it was true that he shared that?

Yes, they asked and he said August of last year. When wast he vow renewal?

I saw the interview and someone asked him point blank "when was the last time you slept with Kate"? He answered in August. I think he meant 2008. They also asked him if he had relations with anyone since and he replied "Hailey".

Can't believe that asked him something so personal. The episode aired in November 2008 but I don't know when it actually happened. When is Madge and DMRick coming back? They would know right?

The vow renewal was Aug. 2008. Then Jon said in Oct. 2008 Kate came to him and said it was over and they were going to live seperate lives.

Yes, my brother's firm would file first and send the letter second -- but they're known to play hardball (we're one of their smallest clients, and we can only afford them because of the family discount :lmao: )

The thing that bothers me most about this is the timing. Jon got a lot of criticism last week for stopping the taping on his property on the same day TLC announced they were cutting back his role on the show, although his lawyer is able to substantiate that Jon's actions predated TLC's.

If money was in fact withdrawn from an account and Kate was getting overdraft notices, this would have been well before last week. So why bring it up now? This, plus the lawyer's letter, makes me think that TLC is actually a little worried about the future of the show (and therefore Kate is) and they have decided to do everything possible to discredit Jon. IMO, all of the skeletons are going to come out of the closet now. :scared1::scared1::scared1:

And I don't know what tactic would be best if I were in Jon's shoes -- should he respond to any allegations (a couple of posters here thought that if Jon was not guilty of taking the money he would have responded by now) or should he just keep quiet now that he has 3 interviews in the can.

The vow renewal was Aug. 2008. Then Jon said in Oct. 2008 Kate came to him and said it was over and they were going to live seperate lives.

It's believable to me. Most people think Kate is the way she is b/c of Jon, but I think Jon is the way he is b/c of Kate (not excusing any of it, btw). He says he went to counseling and has the bill to prove it. Kate refused to go.

And if he was always such a complete jerk and possibly unstable, well, kate married him didn't she? And then carefully chose to have 8 kids with the guy who can't keep a job and lies/cheats/steals (allegedly)?

Let's just blame them both equally. That's about right!

Wow I can't believe this thread is inching up again to 250.

We have a money market account at our place of business.
We keep money in this account, because it yields a higher rate of interest, plus it is easy to get to, if we need it to move money into our regular checking accounts. I'm sure Kate has kept a fairly close eye on all her accounts, but maybe Jon found a way to get to the money and transferred it out. Someone mentioned that Jon's lawyer hasn't made a statement. Probably, because Jon had to pay the high legal fee, made out a check to his lawyer and his lawyer cashed the check on Friday. Maybe this check came to the bank and they alerted Kate that the account went under the allotted amount for the Money market account. I'm sure the bank, knew Jon and Kate's names were both on the account, but it doesn't matter who moves the money out., because it only needs one signature/even though they signed an agreement to let the other person know what is going on with that account.

Heck, did you ever see some threads on the DIS, when someone just asks what they should do, because they think their spouse is cheating....the first thing people will say is, find out how much money is in your savings/ checking, and start getting it out.

Apparently (we will never know the real truth) they both agreed the marraige was over and Kate filing for divorce in June was no suprise to Jon.

I do believe that they did love one another and were committed to the relationship both before and after the sextuplets were concieved. Their conception of multiples was not intentional, a la the "Octomom". Their children were IUI babies, not IVF.

All young parents are stressed. Six at once is obviously going to be more stressful. I think it was just too much for Jon. Not the loving part (he obviously loves them a lot) but the responsibility of being an adult role model was just too much.

I'm afraid his lawyers will destroy any hope of a sensible custody situation with his children. They seem much more focused on his future career as a celebrity than how much his kids need him .

Yes, you did. :lmao:

I don't know -- we live in Canada and my brother works for a pretty big firm so for both of those reasons they're probably more fussy about protocol (our lawyers still wear black gowns during criminal trials). They would only send something by fax if it was for review, like a contract, so that the client could review it before it was sent by courier for signatures.

Do they just agree not to take the money, but then there are no real protections for access to the money..ie freezing the account? That seems stupid and reckless in an acrimonious divorce! Again, I find it hard to believe Kate would leave Jon with access to large amounts of money. It seems a bank should be notified and require the ordered permission before withdrawing money.

Jon accused Kate of hiding money from him a while ago, 80,000 I think. Kate had quickly put it in a trust for the kids (lucky them), but if it's not an irrevocable trust, she can use that money for herself but Jon can't touch it.

Actually, I don't know how they could make his situation any worse -- Kate is asking for full custody and refuses to discuss any other arrangement with Jon.
