Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

I don't blame Jon for going on these different shows giving interviews. It was alright when Kate did it and took the "high road"!
If anyone believes that Kate gives those kids a choice as to whether or not they want to tape, I will sell you some ocean front property in Kansas! Seriously, Kate is telling those kids if we don't do this we will be stuck in this house 24/7 with no vacations or no fun! One thing TLC forgot is that the show has been getting more boring as each week goes by. Every show with Kate was "staged". At least Jon's seemed like they were doing real things with their father! So as a last ditch effort, they boot Jon and change the name of the show??

I wonder if TLC is paying Kate's lawyer fees since they seem to be courting her! If there not, K & J will end up in bankruptcy because all the money will go to the lawyers!

I agree with you -- Kate has done so many more interviews than Jon, including the times she talked about him on The View, that I don't understand people criticizing him for doing LKL. And I did feel that he actually "took the high road" in that one, at least as far as Kate was concerned. Maybe this will set a new tone for how they talk about each other. We'll see how Kate talks about him on the Today show. :rolleyes1

And I agree with you about whether Kate lets the kids decide if they want to film -- she is the one who says the show must go on and it would be nothing without those kids. Having said that, as parents Jon and Kate need to decide for their children what is best -- not to "check in" with them on whether they want to do the show. I know if I gave my DD a choice between staying up late and going to bed early, between getting a flu shot or skipping the needle, etc. she would absolutely not be thinking "what is the best decision to make in the long run". And truthfully, all the kids may not handle things the same way -- it would be up to the parents to decide not to do the show if even one child was showing signs that the show was detrimental to their well-being.

i suspect that if tlc had a real argument all they would have had to do was point that out to lkl and it would have blocked the interview.

depending on how the contract was written up (and it sounds from jon's lawyer that it was a group type of contract not individual ones for j/k/the kids) then jon would have the argument that tlc's 'past practices' have not prohibited he or kate from engaging in interviews or participation on other shows-and that their current practices are to continue to allow kate to do these appearances. he can show how tlc has apparantly facilitated (via filming schedualing) kate's appearances on lkl, the view, dr. phil and all the other shows she's been on recently. also-what does it say about an exclusivity clause in a contract if kate's been allowed to film a trial or pilot episode of a new show with paula dean? that show has'nt been indicated to have a tie-in with tlc.

many of the larry king type shows don't pay for interviews so it could also be that he's not truly in violation unless he's being paid for participation on a particular FILMED show. the appearances at clubs and such where he would be compensated could be entirely allowed within their contract (and i suspect they are because j&k both did their very lucrative paid appearances at churches, tradeshows and other events which tlc apparantly had no problem with during the duration of the series).

Excellent point :thumbsup2 TLC is going to have to show that they treated all parties to the contract equally.

And...they will have to show that Kate talking about Jon in interviews was providing PR services to the show :lmao:

Not that I owe you any explanation of my conversations with my hubby, but here goes. He doesn't say it "all the time' that was a figure of speech. He says it when he hears me watching Jon and Kate, and I ususally open up the conversation by saying she is such a witch, I can't believe she talks to him like that. We have our share of heated arguments and I do say things to him that are not nice at all. In fact he is much nicer than I am. But we both agree that in public we would never do that, WE say that of people we see fighting in public. She is just way to bossy for our taste and it is rude. And that is all I am going to say about that.

Thank you for the explanation...you did open it up to discussion by sharing it with us. You do sound normal now. Your OP made you sound like a perfect couple that never says things to each other that are not nice.

Kate has said she regrets what she has done. I do believe she has learned from her past actions with Jon.

I don't believe the draining the bank account story one bit. First of all why would they have so much money is a regular bank acct making little interest?? With all that has happened you don't think the bank would question a big withdrawl or Kate's legal team didn't anticipate this money might cause a problem??

Some of these latest press releases are total lies. Unfortunately you don't know who to believe as Jon & Kate are liars too!!!

I would agree with you - except you can't seem to put anything past this new lawyer of Jon's. He seems to jump ahead with what he thinks he can do and then says "take us to court" to deal with the consequences after. We'll see what comes out on Monday.
On the same track - Did anyone see Jon on "The Insider" on Friday? One of the interviewers at the desk questioned him on what he plans to do after JK8? What will you do for $? Have you put aside savings, for yourselves, for the kids? Jon mumbled...he had offers...was looking at his options...he doesn't know how much $ they had but a revocable trust was set up for the kids so they have savings. When asked if he would take $ from that - he said "of course - if we need to". Wish I could find the transcript for that - he said it so quickly I don't think he meant to say it out loud. That more than anything else would have me thinking there was some truth in the "emptying account" story.

Do you if the other interviews were done before or after LKL? I haven't heard much about them, except he might be on with nancy grace (i may watch that one).

I don't believe for one second that Kate left Jon with access to hundreds of thousands of dollars! As far as we know, the judge has awarded Kate control of the finances.

I would tell Jon that if he wants to be a man and grow up, then he needs to start my honoring the contract that he signed with TLC. He does not have to sign on for any mroe after season 5. But he agreed to it and he needs to finish his contract. Then he can go do whatever show he wants on another network. IF I were TLC, I would stick it to him royally and sue him. He is acting like a child.

No idea when they were filmed. They were promoting the one with Nancy Grace so I would assume they were done at the same time at least. Much less scripted than the LKL interview - cheesy but at least they were asking questions that he wasn't prepared for. ie "are you driving your family into bankruptcy to get your way?"

My guess with the bank account story...
Kate has been given control of 90% of the accounts by the arbitrator with one account left joint so they both have access to $ as needed. That is the account Jon has emptied - I doubt it had 100s of thousands in it. Likely $50,000 or so if it's the ongoing account used to pay family expenses etc.

Jon Gosselin -- Contemptible?

Posted Oct 4th 2009 2:42PM by TMZ Staff

Kate Gosselin, Jon GosselinKate Gosselin is drawing the big gun -- we've learned she's hired legal pitbull Marty Singer to go after Jon Gosselin ... asking a judge to hold him in contempt of court for raiding their joint bank account to the tune of more than $200,000.

We've learned there is an existing court order prohibiting Jon or Kate from withdrawing any money from the account without the consent of both parties.

We've learned lawyers for Kate will go to Pennsylvania court tomorrow and argue that Jon has flagrantly violated that order, that he should be forced to return the money to the account and held in contempt.

Ironically, Jon suggested on "Larry King" he wanted to save the marriage -- at the same time he emptied the account.

It's hard to believe he'll do that. Him and lawyer must have known that after LKL, the press would be all over them and pick up on this.

Wow! Monday should be an interesting day on the Jon and Kate news. I know I used to work for a bank and saw this same thing many times. Who ever gets to the bank first rule. But if they had a order from the courts that required both parties he will be a lot of trouble. This all is getting very Ugly and fast. The today show should be an interesting one to watch!

Here's another article on the same topic from Access Hollywood. Supposedly the papers are being filed on Monday asking him to put the money back.:

WERNERSVILLE, Penn. --
Jon Gosselin has reportedly emptied his joint bank account with estranged wife Kate, according to Radar Online.

In a report also confirmed by People, the site stated that Jon allegedly removed “hundreds of thousands of dollars” from the former couple’s bank account – leaving a mere $1,000.

Kate has reportedly responded with legal action against Jon, having a lawyer send a letter to him demanding the return of the funds, with papers to be filed in a Pennsylvania court on Monday.

The news comes just days after Jon appeared on “Larry King Live,” where he talked about wanting to repair his relationship with Kate.

“I want Kate and I to mediate. I want us to become friends,” he said at the time – after he attempted to bring production on the former couple’s TLC show, “Jon and Kate Plus Eight,” to a halt following the announcement of its name-change to “Kate Plus Eight.”

Despite his public entreaties to Kate, Jon wasn’t rushing back to the family home in Wernersville, Penn., this weekend.

After his “Larry King Live” appearance, he was photographed at a Los Angeles Dodgers game on Friday.

On Saturday, he was spotted signing autographs at West Hollywood’s Millions of Milkshakes, where the reality dad debuted his own signature drink.

A rep for Jon was not immediately available when contacted by Access Hollywood.

OMG, if he actually did this. WOW! I can't imagine his attorney would have given him the okay. Would he have done this behind everyone's backs?? Behind his lawyer's back, behind Kate's back?

If he truly did drain their bank account to the tune of $200,000+ -- and violated the rules as set down by the arbiter -- I cannot think that will reflect well on him in the divorce proceedings.

Really? :scared1: I can't believe its legal to ever do that.

No I bet this will not reflect well at all. I am shocked. WOW!! He is clearly not thinking!!!:confused3 I mean come on how could he see this going well? Like Kate was going to role over and say Oh Ok, yeah have all the money:rotfl:.

I know bank rules are that if it is joint and someone gets divorced it is first come first serve but if there was a court order and the bank let it happen she could probably hold the bank at fault as well. This just got very dirty fast!!

Really? :scared1: I can't believe its legal to ever do that.

Yup! The only difference would be if the account was set up as a two signature required which means all activity would have to be done by BOTH people on the account which with the court ordered statement is what the bank should have done.

When I worked at the bank this kind of thing happened all the time. It was very sad. One party would come in and clean house and the other would be in shock wanting action from the bank and we could not do anything. Sad!

You know, these two are just clowns. They keep hiring lawyer after lawyer and meanwhile the money just keeps flowing out.

I wish they would start to handle things in private, even I'm getting sick of hearing about them.

I thought that too. When they are all said and done can you imagine the lawyers fees? :scared1:

Jon has cut off Kates source of income & taken all the money in the household account. What do you think he is trying to accomplish?

1) Is he just being vindictive?

2) Is it a desperate/crazy attempt to make her dependent on him?

3)Is Jon Bi Polar? I'm starting to see Britney Spears all over this.
