Shortly after her Monday morning appearance on the "Today" show, where she revealed that her estranged ex, Jon, nearly cleaned out their joint bank account and halted production on their TLC reality show, Kate called into "The View" to divulge more detail.

"We're on temporary holding right now. A lot of this stuff is out of my control," Kate, 34, said. "I can tell you that my kids are upset that it's on hold, that the opportunities that they did have. For example, they're supposed to be in New York. We were supposed to come up this weekend and see the Statue of Liberty and they don't understand why we can't do that now. So for myself and the kids, I'm hoping it goes on for the opportunities as well as, obviously, the financial. I mean, essentially, it's my job, and I'm hoping to continue working."

Do you mean that they were actually going to be paying for a trip and not getting it as a freebie?

did anyone catch joy behar's new show last nite? she did a segment on the newest gosselin issues and i thought the people on the panel hit the nail on the head. they were discussing kate's reports that the kids were devastated that filming was being halted and they remarked that they could totaly understand why, but they did'nt feel it was because of any great joy/love the kids had for filming-it was by virtue of the filming crew not being around. they remarked how with the kids, given all the years of doing this had likely bonded with the crew, saw them as close members of their extended family, and now with them gone it was a loss. they also added that the kids likely (knowingly or unknowingly) realized that when filming happened there was the consistency of one (and previously both) of their parents being at home and interacting (even if it was staged) with them-with all the travel both j&k have been doing recently the kids probably looked to filming as the only time they knew for sure a parent would be home



on the money issue-i have'nt seen it mentioned in recent days, but i remember back several weeks ago there were reports that one of the demands jon was making of kate was for HER to disclose some financial information. something about a million dollar payment she was thought to have received from a publishing source after the official split. anyone heard anything more on this?

I caught that too! I don't feel sorry for either of them, they demonstrate new lows of stupidity every day!

How do we know if the withdrawals listed at the very bottom were done by Jon or Kate? It doesn't say, it just lists them and then says, "I did process your other transfers for your other business accounts.".

I have a real hard time believing Kate didn't notice the first 100,000 taken out on Aug 10!

And I have to add (again) these are simply the documents filed by Kate's lawyer (notice it says Cheryl Young, not the guy who was on LKL as her rep?). These are not the response from the arbitrator's office. Until we see that, I have to give Jon the benefit of the doubt.

And I do TRY to do that for both of them. For example, just because Kate keeps a mixing spoon in her van doesn't mean she hits her kids with it. Maybe she likes to be prepared in case she needs to make a cake while on the road -- I don't know. Until I see pictures of her using it as a disciplinary tool (or until Mady's book comes out) I have to give Kate the benefit of the doubt.

I think Kate may have blown her cover on the 'it's not work it's just the kids doing normal activities and being filmed'.

Nope, it's all scripted and when the show got suspended so did their trip to NY, and apparently, not filming means they also lose the crew who were their friends/family. It's all completely normal and healthy for them!

That said, he was pretty funny during his keynote speech in front of 500 women at the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, in which he answered the burning questions he and his wife, Kate, are most often asked. He also called her tummy tuck "cheating" and quipped: "She'll never leave me and I'll never leave her, because I'll be the poorest man you know."

my guess is they 'can't' because it would mean kate would have to pay for the outing herself, and without the film crew she would'nt get the perk of not having to be around other people in a closed film production setting (long gone are the days when you saw the gosselins wait in line and go into venues with us 'common folk'). and if she paid for it herself it would kind of smack down her assertion that jon's withdrawls have put the kids in financial peril.


so i'm guessing by her recent comments that she's entirely ruled out ever considering going back to the profession she's actualy trained and educated for that COULD provide a respectable income?

can you imagine any mcdonald's being insane enough to hire her? yeah right, what fast food would want to hire a woman who has bashed fast food over and over again?

i'de be incredibly insulted if i worked for a mcdonalds or owned a franchise-she's likening working there as the worst thing on the face of the earth. lots of great people work there and take advantage of educational and promotional opportunities that DO allow them to support themselves and their children in an entirely appropriate manner.

I just thought of a great question I wish all of these reporters interviewing Jon the past few days would ask him: "I realize you believe it's in the kid's best interest to stop taping the show now because of your 'ipifany', but can you please tell us how you plan on providing for your family without the show's income?"

I'd LOVE to hear his answer to that one. I'm surprised no one has asked him that question so far.

They did ask him this on The Insider. Jon's answer was that he has "offers" but can't discuss them.

Jon is supposed to be on The Insider again tonight. He says he has PROOF that he didn't take the $230,000, says he has a receipt that he only took out a withdrawal of $22,000. Which.....

1. If you weren't supposed to take any money out of that account according to the arbitrator, then $22,000 is the same as $220,000 IMHO

2. And so what if you show everyone one withdrawal slip for $22,000, how does that "prove" anything? There could be 9 more they you aren't showing everyone.

Also Kate said on GMA that Jon took this money out over a series of time beginning in August up through Sept. 29th. She didn't say he did it all at once.

I wonder if Kate isn't a little shocked that Jon is speaking out and not the meak little pion she thought she married.

No wonder she wants the "old Jon" to call her. She's afraid he's going to give away all the dirty little secrets.

Thanks! That's one show I didn't watch because I misunderstood and thought they meant "Insider Edition" and watched that instead. He was on that too!

From her GMA interview it seemed like Kate knows Jon pretty well, IMO. I think she see's it for what it is, Jon being fed what to do and say by others right now. I wish he would listen to people that really care about him though and not Michael Lohan, Mark Heller or a girlfriend that is too young to help. Too bad his father isn't still alive to give Jon some wisdom, he was close to him.

BTW--Congrats on not smoking, it isn't easy but so worth it!

She said he's changed. I think she also mentioned an alien at some point a while back. I do agree w/ you on the people / floozies he is hanging around w/ . I do wonder where his mother is now. She must have stayed in Vegas

On the today show she said she pretends she is talking to the old Jon. Jon was never a weak little pion thats just an act he is putting on. He was always a biker dude with tattoos... he just dressed like he had a job back then.

I just read the Fox article. It seems that Jon is saying Kate is in contempt because she still hasn't provided records about missing money ordered in the original agreement.

All of this talk about not being able to support the kids without the show is ridiculous. There are plenty of large families that do it without putting their lives on TV. Anyone remember the McCaughey family?

RN's make pretty good money. Not enough to afford a $1M plus house but enough to live on.

If Kate is making so much more money than Jon (book signings, speaking arrangements, show...) why are the expenses being split in 1/2?

She did say on one of the single couch interviews that he seemed to change overnight. It was like an alien came down and took him...something to that affect.

I'm not referencing GMA or NBC at all. This was a while back, soon after the seperation that she said this.
