ok - since the WDW icecream has come up I'll add my opinions too...

yes I think WAAAAY overreacted - as she does EVERYTIME the kids even THINK about getting dirty (remember the Crayola factory she said it was a bad idea & the cookie baking episode she said somethinng & I think she said something even at Duff's shop!) she needs to CHILL & let the kids get messy!

We were at MK last July & the girls had to have a Mickey - well it was I think 10 seconds MAX before they were covered in chocolate - on the 1st day there & they were wearing matching shirts - that I made just for the trip. Did I freak & say they were ruined?!? NO! Though I wasn't sure 'cause it was chocolate on a white t-shirt - I just got out the babywipes & scrubbed as much as I could (after taking pictures of course!) & quit worrying about it - though I may have thought a little about it next picture moment - but I'd just zoom in or made sure someone covered the spot - actually don't remember ever making an issue of it. ANd I'm HUGE on matching outfits @ WDW (mom & dad & grandma have to compliment too) but *if* its that big a deal then another set of matching clothes is packed. And YEP! I've been known to go buy another set of matching clothes if need be....but I certainly would NEVER snatch the icecream away from my children & spoon feed them like that just 'cause of a mess. Those poor kids that can't do anything for themselves.

BTW - who the heck still keeps their 5 year olds in bibs!?! and in highchairs?!? Those poor kids are in for a rude awakening come kindergarten -as well as Kate when all 6 spill their lunch on themselves the same day - or they walk into another kids tray while not paying attention....or wipe the paint & glue all over their clothes.
Obviously these kids will never play sports like softball/baseball 'cause they'd put Kate in a mental institution the 1st time the slid into homeplate!

I thought it was crazy that she put bibs on them too. My son is 3 and he no longer wears a bib nor sits in a highchair. He will sit in a booster seat but not a highchair.

Granted, I take care of my son's clothes and I like him to look nice. I keep extra clothes when we go anywhere in case he needs to be changed because I do want him to look presentable. I wonder how long Mady and Cara had to wear a bib. How old were they when they first did the show?

Growing up, we called adults Mr. & Mrs. Last Name. But if Emeril came to our house, we'd call him Emeril. Just like when we met the Sesame Street characters at the local mall we called them Bob, Susan, Gordon, etc.

I was thinking of something last night. I don't understand why they need a helper so often. If the helper can take care of all 8 kids on her own then why can't Jon and Kate take care of the kids on their own.

I dont understand it either,there is another new show with tups and the mom takes care of the kids by her self,and works part time at night.

The part I saw was Joan calling Kate a, curse word, and that Kate needs to get out of the bikini and get home and take care of her 8 kids. Wish I had seen the whole thing but I was busy flipping between J&K and the Bachelorette!

In Ohio we never called anyone Sir or Ma'am and my DH is from Texas and said he would get thumped on the head if he didn't say it.

same thing at my house... the head thumping if you don't say ma'am and sir.

Interesting how two people can watch the same show and see something so different. I thought we saw more of the light hearted Kate we used to see (however, I know much would be made of her saying Jon couldn't cook, so I did cringe when she made any of those type remarks). I never did figure out what he did with all that garlic, but it was funny when the kids wanted to keep smelling it.
They definately were interviewed apart, so those of us who always watch realized not all was right with the adults.
I enjoyed watching the kids with Emeril, and I thought he was playful right back to Kate when she swatted him and through the show. I didn't get the impression at all that he thought it anything but fun. I loved his patience with the reasons I watch the show..the kids.
Watching the kids outside playing 'cooking' was also fun, as was watching my favorite show, when Kate came back from getting her tummy tuck and we heard, "Mommy? Mommy?" like she wasn't sure it was her mommy.

I do have to wonder what Kate will think when she looks back of at the episodes & sees her transformation - of her looks & then her behavior - or will she just not see it? It's CRAZY how different she looks. I watched the National Forest episode the other day when she was just in sweats - you think she'd be caught dead in sweats now? NOW WAY!

The reason they can't take care of the kids on their own is 'cause Kate is always out shopping for her new wardrobe! Or at least she's shopping online for it - so someone's gotta pay attention to the kids....

that is one of the things that always fascinates me about this show. LOL ..

I did not watch last night's episode, but have read several reviews from various sources ... but not the (pro- or anti-) blogs. They were varied in their take on the show, but were all pretty clear that it happened before the tabloid mania and most felt like Jon and Kate were getting along ok, but you could see the tension beginning to bubble under the surface. And that tells me if people who don't necessarily watch the show all time are seeing tension, that even if the tabloids hadn't picked up on the story .. Jon and Kate would not have been able to hide their issues much longer on the show. The viewing general (non-blog reading) public is pretty smart, I think.

I did it! I did not watch last night. I have been a big fan of this show but the train wreck disgusts me. I hate/disagree with the decisions they are making for their family. I will not watch anymore. If and when they do divorce it will digust me beyond belief because I feel that they sold their soles for fame and money. They have eight beautiful, healthy reasons to stay and work on their marriage. IF J&K want to "be there for the kids" then they need to start my loving each other and creating a SECURE loving family for them - turn the cameras off!

I totally agree!!! I think the ratings will start dropping soon.

That's so funny because Kentucky and Ohio are so geographically close, yet so different in so many ways. My mom just looked at my DD really strange when she called her Ma'am for the first time.

I thought last night's show was painful to watch with J&K. The snide / snippy remarks they made back and forth all day while Emeril was there was painful. AND I am so guessing this was taped wayyyyyyyyy before all the news of their break-up hit the media. So Emeril would not have known there was any ******* among J&K.

The kids are absolutely adorable. I could watch them all show long and leave J&K out of it. Their playing outside on their bikes and playing "cooking"....just so cute. Not too cute when they are the beating the crap out of a bathroom door while someone is in there BUT we have all seen our own kids do stuff like that time and time again.

Again, as I look at the kiddos I am amazed they ALL have BROWN eyes, almost black yet J&K do not...they have more of a blue/greenish color! Interesting.

Ohhhhh...interesting. Because the twins and the 'tups all have very dark eyes and every time there is a close up interview of J&K, they appear to have blue-ish/green-ish eyes...nothing close to the kiddos.........hmmm!

Totally regional because it was common in our neighborhood to use first names.

In Ohio we never called anyone Sir or Ma'am and my DH is from Texas and said he would get thumped on the head if he didn't say it.

I'm from Ohio (outside of Cincinnati) and we called everyone Sir or Ma'am. And we used Mr./Mrs./Miss [last name]. My parents would've been appalled if we'd done any differently.

Now, I live in SC and it's more Mr./Mrs./Miss [first name]. I still call everyone Sir or Ma'am and I'm almost 34. It's a habit now.

I just saw an episode yesterday in which Jon and Kate go shopping, because Kate according to Jon doesn't know how to put an outfit together (not the exact words). Kate says (again I'm paraphrasing here), I don't feel comfortable with color...I was just thinking that things have certainly changed...lots of color now (not a bad thing, just an observation).

oh, you cross the river and it's a whole 'nother country up there.

I grew up in the northern part of the state, and now live much closer to Tennessee. You can a difference, or at least I can.

The show aside, I'm curious. How many people here think this marriage would have lasted with or without kids or this show? I don't think so. I think this just rushed it down the can a bit faster.

I predicted a long, long time ago - on one of these threads - that this marriage wouldn't last.. (And I also knew that it would be Jon who would "check out" first..) However, I had hoped that the show would be over before that happened - so the kids wouldn't have to be exposed to all of these horrendous scandals that are now swirling around them..
