Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 4

But is their marriage in trouble just because he is being a jerk? It seems much more serious than that. After watching the premier, it seemed obvious that something pretty major was going on. Jon has been a jerk lots of times on the show. Kate is used to that. Something has driven a huge wedge between them. An affair seems like the most logical conclusion especially when there seems to be some evidence to support that conclusion. Although Kate did not say for sure that Jon was cheating, she did seem to lean that way in her People magazine interview. If Kate doesn't buy all of Jon's stories, then why should we? She knows him better than any of us do. She would know if Deanna was there at the house with someone else. Not one time in the article did she say that any of the pictures of Jon were fakes.

Maybe their marriage is in trouble because Jon is sick of Kate treating him like a whipping boy. Maybe Kate is sick of Jon's passive aggresive behavior. Maybe Jon doesn't want to do the show and Kate wouldn't think of stopping it. Maybe they grew apart and realize they have different views of their future.

Who knows? There are plenty of divorces that aren't started by one party having an affair.

The outfit that she had on at the b-day party from Loft did not cost anywhere near $200.00. I have that sweatshirt, it was $39.50 and the jeans too so I would say it was around one hundred. Her sunglasses were from Loft too!!!!!

I am wearing the dress that she had on at the barbq at the end of the show right now. So cute!
25.00 on sale at the Loft.. I bought all three colors. Now at full price 49.50 I wouldnt have done it, but everything in the Loft goes on sale all the time. I dont think Ive ever paid full price for anything there, unless I was just desperate. If ya wait a cpl of days its on sale lol.

I thought that dress was adorable but I do not see it on the website. Was it an in store sale only, maybe? Too cute! I hope I'm not too old for it!

I thought it looked like her as well. Everyone said she looked old I didn't think she looked that old

She looked old? I didn't think so. She didn't look real young either but she didn't in those photos in the car either.

And this all just happened to come to a head at the same time as the pictures surfaced? I know that marriages end for many reasons and affairs occur for many reasons. I'm also sure their marriage problems are more than just one issue. But the fact that this all went down at the same time as the photos surfaced, just seems too big of a coincidence. And the fact that Kate mentioned how she felt when she first heard Deanna's name just makes me think that at least Kate thinks he had an affair.

This thread is moving way too fast. I'm not even going to try to catch up page by page.

LOL! You can say that again.. I zipped through real quick from where I "thought" I left off last night and only found one thing worth commenting on..

C.Ann...Are you a poster on GWOP?...Because a lot of what you say sounds very familiar to that site. The going after sponsers and "extreme" approach...The anger? This is a genuine question.

This is a reasonable question - presented in a polite way - so I will answer it for you - although I already answered it on the other thread..:goodvibes

I don't know what GWOP is - so obviously I don't read or post there.. The only place I read and post in regards to the Gosselin's is here on the DIS.. I have heard (here) that there are many, many hateful sites out there - zillions of pages from various "sources" commenting on the Gosselin's - but I don't read them nor do I post on them.. No "grassy knoll" conspiracy going on here..:goodvibes

I'm a little confused by this part of your post - "The going after sponsors and the "extreme" approach." Are you saying that contacting the sponsors is "extreme" when one does not agree with what the Gosselin's are exposing their children to? I don't see that as being "extreme" - I see it as attempting to be part of the solution, rather than the problem (for those who agree that it's a problem and something to be concerned about).. I can't address the "anger" because I know nothing of what goes on over there - or anywhere else - unless someone posts it here on the DIS..

It seems to me (not directed at you - just a general thought) - that many here feel very threatened by the fact that people are contacting the sponsors and TLC to voice their concerns on this matter.. Why is that? Because they are afraid someone might actually listen? For anyone who feels threatened by this, you (general you) also have a choice - contact the sponsors and TLC and tell them how much you love the show - and that you want it to continue.. We all have choices.. Rather than sit back and grumble about choices that others are making, do something about it.. Let your voice be heard as well..:)

Hopefully that has answered your questions.. :)

I have been gone for about 3 hours and I was so afraid that I was going to come back to 20 pages and it was only 1. I am so glad. Now everyone can talk again.:lmao:

Even on the very low estimates of $25,000 per episode they would have earned 1 million last year from the show alone. Surely they could provide for their family with $100,000 per person. And by most estimates they earned 3 times that.

I have seen in several articles that they make $75,000 per episode, not $25k. So for 40 episodes, we are talking 3 million:scared1: Us Weekly also listed some of the freebies:

Below, a sample of just some of the swag they've scored:

- Free beds
- Front-loader washing machines
- New furniture
- Free solar panels for "Going Green" episode
- Clothes from Gymboree and Gap
- Mady & Cara birthday at American Girl Place (2 dolls and birthday package for 2 adults & 2 kids): $710
- Trip to Florida Key's for Jon's 30th birthday
-Tickets to Dutch Wonderland amusement park: $309.50
-1/2 an organic cow from Natural Acres Farm: $1,395.00
-Tickets to Philadelphia Zoo: $104.00
-Tickets to Walt Disney World: $654.00 per day
- Utah house rental (estimate: $5,000), ski lift tickets $72 for six days), ski school lessons ($140 per child)
- Upright piano, which they got rid of when they moved into their new $1.1 million home : $5,550-$6,350
- Violin: $100-$300
- Old house re-carpeted
-Crayola Factory Tour: $90.00
-Teeth Whitening (for Jon & Kate): $1,310 (average price for 2 adults)
-Hair plugs (Jon): $5,200 (average cost)
-Sesame Street Place tickets: $509.50
-Day with Thomas the Tank Engine: $180.00
-Beach trip to North Carolina, house rental, Jeep tour
-Sight & Sound Christian theatre tickets: $236.00
-SkyBox at Phillies game
-LegoLand tickets: $550.00
-San Diego Zoo tickets: $278.00
-Grand Wailea Resort (Hawaii) for 2008 vow renewal: Suites range from $725-$1,080 per night.
-2 purebred German Shepherd puppies: $1,000-$3,000 per dog
- Please Touch Museum tickets: $150.00
- Giants grocery store: $5,000 in gift cards and a year's supply of diapers

I am sure there is much more. No wonder Kate doesn't want to give it up. It is also said that she sells autographed photos of her children for $20 each during her church "tours" and while she doesn't ask for a specific amount, the church love offerings must be generous enough for her to keep doing them.

Good for them:)

I was thinking over this whole mess for what seems to be the 1000th time  and came to this conclusion:

We will never know the truth. Plain and simple. Kate is saying one thing, Jon is saying another, the tabloids are saying a little of this and a little of that. People can pick and choose what they want to believe from whatever source it's coming from. We even have an "inside source", Kevin & Jodi, but people choose to believe/not believe them either. So, unless we actually get our hands on written documentation, I just don't see how we'll ever get to the truth. Jon can deny cheating all he wants, Kate can deny that she did anything wrong, TLC can say they're portraying a real family and blah blah blah! Seems to be the only thing we know for sure is that Jon isn't living at home and that we learned from sweet Alexis saying she doesn't want him to leave anymore. So this is how I feel :confused3, I don't know what to believe.

I agree. I wish they would just say it but I know their not. It is a train wreck and I can not turn away as much as I try. I need help!

I wonder how the P-people and reporters are being when she is out with the kids. Are they yelling out stuff like "Do you belive your husband is cheating?" "where is Jon? Is he out with Deanna?" "Are you getting dovorced?" in front of the kids.

Kate's TLC blog mentioned that the children haven't been out much (to a store) recently and that was going to be a big treat. Hopefully, they haven't been exposed to much of the paparazzi mess.

as for what the p-people say? I wouldn't put it past any of them to say what you've described.

Hi I am a newbie and already addicted to this board, its really bad! I too so want to know the real truth! On another note...does anyone know what was written on their old set at the end of the season finale. They both wrote something on the walls, and I am curious what it was! Thanks!

:welcome:
I think it said Hasta La Vista and then their signatures around the walls. I really can't remember!

she didn't sell pictures when she was here -- well, not that I am aware of. Nothing was sold at the church. I never heard mention of picture sales at the book signing, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

The time Kate actually spent speaking/working here seems minimal compared to some of the other events she's made an appearance. Kate arrived in Kentucky sometime on Saturday -- I never heard if she spent the night locally or in Louisville (about an hour away) -- she arrived at the church very before the 9:00am start time, spoke for 25 minutes each at 2 different worship services. Kate did not linger after the late service, had lunch at Ruby Tuesday and went to Target before she did a book signing at the local high school. (the people I know that went to the book signing never did say how long it lasted so I don't have a timeline for that) .. and then flew home. There was no public meet and greet with Kate at the church. I don't know if the book signing was part of Kate's obligation to the church, or if it is something the book people/publicist arranged.
