Well, I would hope that they have been working with a financial advisor to make sure that they have a nest egg to fall back on. I hope that they didn't think the show would go on forever.

If they aren't on TV anymore and the cash flow from the books, clothing, speaking engagement stops then so will the interest in the family. Yes, there may be cameras for a short time, but people will stop caring. The paparazzi will find a new target and they will be left alone.
The kids will be in school full time so no one will need to be home all day,every day. Kate can work a 9-5 like the rest of America and be with the kids at night.
A lot of people have to get rid of pets when times get tough or sacrifice other things to pay for their animals. It's a part of life, why should the Gosselins be any different when times get tough? Because they have 8 kids? A lot of families have multiple children to care for, not just them.
