I also wanted to say that I saw the link to youtube of them and Emeril. I thought it was very cute. I thought the little flip oon his arm with the spatula was harmless and funny *bam* LOL, I thought it was cute that she got so tickled at her own joke. I didn't think it ticked Emeril off or anything. I think he seems like a great sport and she probably felt comfortable enough to joke around with him.
That was my take on that little scene and I know I have read much different here on the boards. So, it is true to say that we all can see the same things and see it very differently.

That was my take on that clip as well. Seemed harmless to me and shows that Kate does have a sense of humor and can be playful. I don't think Kate is awesome either but I also don't think she is the monster that the media/public make her out to be.

If I'm not mistaken, that was a picture of her shortly after the birth of the sextuplets. Back when she did her own hair nad make-up and didn't have a personal trainer. Also before she spent days like her childrens birthdays in a tanning salon. And before she decided to get the whacked out hair cut that is half redneck, half I'm preparing for an alien visit.

She still has that sour-puss," I'm trying to be perfect" look on her face though.

The only problem with that caption is that it implies that she was once a mom BEFORE she became a monster. And I'm betting she was always a monster, before becoming a mom, while becoming a mom, and all through motherhood.

Yikes.:scared: That's a bit harsh don't you think? Saying she was a monster before becoming a Mom, while a Mom and all through Motherhood? I know you're entitled to your opinion and I'm not a fan of Kate either, but this seemed pretty mean. When I saw US Weekly's cover, "Mom to Monster" I thought it was totally inappropriate. To me, a "monster" Mom is someone who beats her kids and denies them essentials and care. I don't think Kate does that. Just my opinion though...

Ya know, I've thought about this alot tonight, especially the Charm City Cake thing. I've seen Duff and company host a wish kid before, in the sweetest and best of ways. Charm City isn't open to the public for obvious reasons. There really wasn't any good explanation for having the Gosslins there, other than they have a TV show. I hope Duff goes back to handling things the way he used to. I respect and think highly of his opening the bakery to Wish Kids. I don't think much of him hosting the Gosslin group.
Personally, I don't think it's particularly good (or emotionally healthy) for children to be getting lots of endless extraordinary special treatment just "because". (And I'm not just talking cakes here--I worry about the total "package" that is now these children's daily lives.) JMO--YMMV.

What you've got to remember is that these firms are doing this for publicity FOR THEM. They're not doing it because the family have 8 kids and getting special treatment "because".

Publicity for the firms pure and simple.....I'll bet that companies are queuing up to 'host' events for the Gosselins - it's nationwide publicity for them.

I'm sure it is business but would the Gosselins be getting that treatment if they weren't sextuplets? I highly doubt it. :lmao: It's like the "which came first" scenario...the chicken or the egg! The Gosselins became famous because they have twins and sextuplets. Due to that fame, they are able to go to Charm City Cakes (I'd soooo love to get a cake from there!). :goodvibes

I have to agree with this, I might not 'like' Kate that much, but she's far from a monster. She does love her kids and it's pretty obvious her kids love her.

It doesn't say much for the rag mag in question that they've resorted to name calling.:rolleyes1

I wonder about the '40' staffers she fired? What's a staffer?

To me the phoning the other mum who had sextuplets was more a 'normal' thing to do. I know if it was me I'd be contacting anyone I could in a similar situation to ask "How do you cope, what advice can you give me to help make this situation easier - emotionally and financially?"

Have sextuplets - you'd get a cake no problem then! ;)

I agree that it was completely inappropriate. I think the 40 staffers had something to do with the nurses/infant care when the babies first came home? I don't know if I believe that she fired 40 people and I will say that if I brought home 6 preemie sextuplets you can be darn sure I'd be VERY discriminating as to who took care of them.

I read also that she called the septuplets Mom for advice. I would have been very aware of the fact that I now had 6 babies to provide for! I know J&K were able to get free diapers for the 1st year of the sextuplets lives so that doesn't seem "greedy" to me. Heck, I'd have taken free diapers for any of my babies, they go through them like crazy.

Have sextuplets - you'd get a cake no problem then! ;)

:lmao::rotfl: Ok, hold on, let me go tell my DH that we're going to try for 6! He'll love that! :rolleyes1

Wow.

I agree but I also think a child would not see Monster as a mom who beats her kids etc. I think a child might think of scary bigfoot type monsters. You know, randall type monsters. ;)

yes, but I do think you could say that about anyone famous. Why do we all (or most of us) love Walt Disney? If he had not created Mickey's, movies and DL and WDW, we wouldn't even know of him.
Very often, rich famous people get free stuff, deep discounts, etc. and they are then't the people who even need it. Everyday people need the help not someone making millions of dollars a day! :headache: Yet, people bend over backwards for the rich.

When you are on tv you get perks.....obviously they wouldn't be on tv without the sextuplets, but they have them and they are, so it's kind of a moot point. (moo point for all you Friends fans ;)).

My girls are insanely jealous of the Obama girls because their dad is the president and they can request the Jonas Brothers come play all the time if they want. Nothing special about the Obama girls (other than the fact that they are cuties :goodvibes) but their dad is the President so they get perks.

Celebrities and people on tv get things for free all the time for promotional reasons even though they could easily pay for them.

My DD16 loves the Ace of Cakes show and would flip to have a cake from there, but TLC hasn't come to my door yet (but my DD18's friend said they should because we are a riot ;)) so no cake for us!

I know pampers and huggies generally give free diapers for the 1st year for multiples.

Well you know the old saying that if you marry for money you wind up earning every penny? I think that may apply to freebies 'cause your on a TV show

True. Ditto on the Jonas Brothers too. I have to listen to regular discussions of which one is the cutest or has the best voice or isn't it sad that Nick Jonas has diabetes!

Celebrities do get lots of free things...I know when they do the Oscars and Golden Globes the celebs get excited because of all the swag they will get! However I still wish we could afford a Charm City Cake. Just a couple of nights ago they were tasting new cake flavors (I think one was green tea) and I was drooling...

Love that Friends clip too..."It's a moo point. It's all moo!" :lmao:

Here's my other favorite Friends clip..."Pivot! Pivot! Pivot!" In case anyone doesn't know that one, it's the one where Ross, Rachel and Chandler are moving Ross's couch up the stairs to his apartment. :lmao:

Ok...how about we had youngest DD tested for diabetes last year and all the girls kept saying was, "if you have diabetes you would have something in common with Nick!!" My kids are stupid...

We actually go to the same church as the Jonas Brothers but it's a huge church and we haven't seen them yet. But DD's did get to hear Mrs. Jonas speak and got to meet her and unlike Kate (keeping on topic ;)) Mrs. Jonas was a wonderful speaker, and very gracious. My oldest hugged her and said she was the nicest lady ever. :goodvibes

When the movers were trying to get my couch upstairs when we moved into this house in August I really wanted to yell PIVOT PIVOT!! :rolleyes1

OK, I can't stop laughing about your girls! That is funny. I hope she tested negative though, we have a friend who's daughter was recently diagnosed.

That is really nice to hear about the Jonas Bros. Mom. Mine would have been thrilled to hear her speak, well my oldest 2 anyway!

My DH and I moved our elliptical up our 3 flights of stairs and we couldn't stop laughing because of that episode! Needless to say I was completely useless and DH managed to get it all the way up without me!:lmao:

Yep...she was negative thank goodness!

Not sure if this has already been posted but I found this on E news so I thought I would share.

Call it Jon & Kate Plus One Angry Brother.

Jason Hummel, the brother of Jon Gosselin's alleged mistress, Deanna Hummel, is refusing to be quiet about her relationship with the reality star.

In a new interview with E! News, Jason claims that his Reading, Pa., home was the rendezvous spot of choice for his 23-year-old sister and the 32-year-old Gosselin, both of whom have emphatically denied that their relationship has gone beyond the realm of platonic.

The elder Hummel is also fuming over his sister's claims that he has been making up salacious details after her headline-grabbing public outing with Gosselin.

"I am not a liar," Jason insists. "The rumors are true. It feels good to let people know that I am not the liar."

And despite the ramped-up tabloid attention and continued production of the Gosselins' TLC show, Jason says: "Personally, I do think they're going to continue seeing each other. I think they think they can get away with it.

"I hope she is not in love with him."

He also offers more details of the purported affair.

"He'd pick her up at least three times a week," says Hummel, beginning in January or February of this year.

"She told me she was having a friend over that night, and I was like, 'OK,' " he continues, recalling his first encounter with the married reality-show father.

"She's never telling me she's having anyone over and, lo and behold, a couple hours later, here's Jon Gosselin in my living room…I didn't like him from the start."

Hummel also admits that he videotaped and leaked footage of Gosselin leaving Hummel's home early in the morning because he was "sick…of seeing all these rumors going around when you know what's the truth.

"It's literally going on right in front of my face."

Hummel later recalled one of his final encounters with Gosselin.

"My sister says to me, 'Oh, Jon's going to get you tickets to the Phillies game. He has season tickets.'

"He goes, 'Yeah, I have season tickets behind home plate to the Phillies.' So I'm thinking to myself, Is this like my hush money right here?"

Meanwhile, the entire scandal is turning into a family affair for the Hummels, as Deanne's other brother, John, is also breaking his silence and backing Jason's account.

"[Jason] is telling the truth, and they paint him in a bad picture, and that's why I'm here—to let people know he's telling the truth," John tells E! News.

As for Gosselin, there's apparently no love lost.

"His wife is crazy," says John. "I guess I would cheat on her, too."

As it happens, Kate Gosselin's side of the story will no doubt be heard when the fifth season of the reality show premieres on May 25.

"My kids are the reason I do everything," she says in a solo interview in a sneak peak of the show.

Jon, meanwhile, seems to be doing his best to keep things in perspective.

"The world isn't about ratings and TV. It's about happiness and love. Compassion and intimacy. Family and God. I think we all got caught up in everything.

"Kate and I have obviously been going through a lot of stuff and discussing what's best for our kids," he said. "It's a crazy life, but it's our life."

I'm going back to casting for the upcoming Jon & Kate movie...

John O'Hurley for the bodyguard. (Yes, it's Mr. Peterman!) :)

You people are good!!! All of the people you've picked for playing the parts has been SPOT ON! Good work! :rotfl:

Thanks for posting that link, Kritter. I'm from Birmingham, AL so it was interesting to see the family with sextuplets from our area. It clearly shows that there ARE other families out there doing it and making it work. I didn't know they were on that Home Makeover show. Right here in my own backyard, too!!!!

Anyways, thanks for sharing! :goodvibes
