Why does everyone assume that if they divorce that Jon would not have himself and the kids in the media and that it would only be Kate?
How would either of them at this point support the kids and two households without some type of media? Not saying this is right, but it seems to be where it has gotten...neither has held down a "normal" job for a few years.
I think because Jon has said many times that he doesn't enjoy the spotlight and most recently that there's more to life than TV and ratings. I'm sure Jon could land a job if he wanted to, something more understated than a reality show. I've always felt that Jon was more hands on as a parent...he would run around, play with them, get them ready and he looked like he loved them to pieces. That's how I've perceived it anyway. Kate does have her moments too where she looks that way but it seems Jon has had many more.

Has anyone ever seen Kate smile? Or look at all happy? Except for the photo shoot pictures taken by TLC (where Kate and Jon are beeming and the kids all look downtrodden and sad and bewildered and tired) I have never seen a smile on her face. On the show, if she is not being a beast she usually just looks extremely focused, but not happy. I have never seen her climb into one of their beds and read with them or snuggle. Sometimes it shows her pass a child and say hi to them and keep going, and the camera focuses in on what the kids is dong nad it is the cutest thing...but Kate doesn't seems to notice and just keeps going. It seems she never stops to enjoy them. It is so sad. Like when Hannah ws tiny and folding a basket of towels for the folding neighbor (not Kate mind you, but the volunteer neighbor that came to fold and Kate would just drag the baskets of laundry in for her and not help and just act like the lady owed her something) and she was sitting there so cute. I couldn't have walked past that. I would have stopped and taken picutes and gobbled her up.
That's a little bit unfair as I recall seeing times on the show where Kate was smiling and enjoying her little ones. Granted more often than not she is barking orders or complaining but I have seen her numerous times snuggle with one of the kids or play with them. And her smile when she does is very genuine looking to me, like another poster said in Hawaii she was swimming with one of the girls and was so excited to see her swim. I remember another episode where one of the little girls was sitting on her lap pretending to cut her hair and Kate looked very happy. I guess that's what makes this all rather sad then, that she's gone so much now that those moments (I'm totally speculating) are fewer. But I will say that I have seen her in past episodes genuinely happy/smiling with her kids and (GASP!) Jon!
I agree with you on the job thing. They are always looking for nurses and if memory serves me right Becky Dilly is a nurse and she went back to work and her hubby was the stay at home parent. ( Oh wait sorry Kate doesn't talk about other families with multiples) Also what happened to Jon's job with Bob??? I get the feeling Jon quit but why??? Was he pressured by Kate to quit because she could then travel more on book deals and speaking engagements. It wouldn't surprise me if she didn't pressure him into quitting.
I didn't know that about Becky Dilly. I've wondered too if the reason Jon quit working with Bob was that Kate wanted Jon around more, now that show was paying so well. Speaking of the Dilly's, isn't it amazing that they were able to make it work without a reality TV show, books, tours and speaking engagements? I'm not being snarky, I'm seriously comparing them to the Gosselins. Maybe Becky Dilly should give Kate a call...
