Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

That is just not right. If they want to give to charity, give to charity out of your own pocket. Don't use your childrens birthday party as fund raiser. Don't use your septuplets as "the main attraction" or a spectacle that one needs to pay to see like at a freak show. It would be different if they invited friends and said "in lieu of gifts, please consider donating to ____ charity" but to just have people pay to come and gawk? WEIRD! They don't have friends, so they had to get customers.

Kate did this, because it would have been sad to show on national TV that they didn't have any friends to invite. The kids aren't in school yet, so it's not like they could just invite the class. She had no options.

Side show is a good word. Kinda reminds me of what they said happened with the Dione quintuplets, the first know surviving quintuplets that were born during the depression. The Dr. turned them into a side show.

The bodyguard has been around for a long time- way before the book. The first time I noticed him was on the flight to Utah when Kate had a come-apart because they were diverted. I kept watching that "poor" man who was sitting behind them and having to endure the whole scene. That guy is Steve and he has been with them for a long time. :teacher:

The picture of Cara crying at the birthday party makes me want to weep for her. She is 8 1/2 years old...my daughter is the same age. She would be humiliated to cry in front of ANYONE...let alone in front of cameras, an entire party, and essentially the millions of TLC viewers. And Kate's overly dramatic eye-rolling was so nurturing. It breaks my heart for Cara. I can just imagine what these past few weeks have been like for her, and Mady.
I can only hope that Kate and Jon use their power of veto to keep Cara's moment of humiliation off the air. That poor kid.

Out of all the kids Cara is the one that you see the least. I remember hearing Kate say "we film on the day. If you don't want to be filmed than they go to a friends" I think Cara spent a lot of time at a friends house and then wasn't she the kid that didn't want to move!!!

I'm wondering what you think is wrong with their speech (aside from the probable speech and language issues associated with multiples).

I kind of thought the same thing as you. My 5 year old is speech-delayed and the sextuplets' speech is way better than my son's.

My DH watches this show from time to time. I have only seen 2 episodes and was put off by how the little ones spoke. To me for their age their vocabulary should of been broader. It seemed to me that they were talked AT instead of talked with. I got flamed for even saying that. That being said I guess I will tune in this season to see how it plays out in the marriage. I already think they both are horrible parents but that is JMHO.

My question is what channel is TLC on Direct TV? LOL I don't watch that so have no clue.

I think that funny that you said that. My daughter last month just got "released" from speech therapy and 1 night while I was watching J&K my DH asked if any of the kids were in therapy? "Speech? Not that I know of but Kate's their mom so when they get older they will probably be in another type of therapy!"

Must stop posting and go buy DD shorts that are dress code appropriate!

Well said! You know, I think I have officially stopped watching this show. I will not be watching the season premiere either. I really think they are hyping this marriage problem just to get ratings and I think that is disgusting. I will not watch any more. But I'll keep reading this thread.;)

Ditto :thumbsup2

I'm with you... although I might watch the show, I haven't decided yet. It's a holiday and a school night. The bedtime routine will be out of whack, I'm sure. I don't know that I'll be sitting down to watch TV at 9pm.

IF this is a ratings stunt, expect things to continue full throttle this week.

And if this is a ratings stunt .. are we to believe Kevin and Jodi are involved with it?

Oh, I love a good conspiracy theory. I think that it's possible that they would just jump on the band wagon and air the dirty laundry on their own.

I think you may be right ... and if you are AND they're (Jodi and Kevin) telling the truth? That Jon & Kate's marriage is in trouble? and it's not a ratings ploy?

will we ever know? probably not.

They are filming again, show must go on. I wonder if we will see more Jon and Kate filming apart more this season? One parent doing things with the kids at a time?

One thing is for sure they have a lot of coverage on them now a days. I wonder if the kids notice the extra attention? They have to notice the extra cars and people trying to capture pictures?

I don't watch the show much. I lurk on this thread from time to time. From reading here, I am always under the impression that Kate is some horrible woman. Then I watch the show and I am like :confused3 . Sure she is a bit of a control freak, but the amount of hate on here for that?

For a cable show, it gets HUGE ratings. I think they deserve the 75k an episode, if not more.

Any why all the hysterics about Cara crying at a birthday party? Kids whine and cry you know. It could have been over something ridiculous which is what Kate is reacting to.

[QUOTE

you can pay to see Kate talk at the Ronald McDonald House where they did the give back thing last year -- this weekend, I think? they're donating those proceeds to charity, too.
[/QUOTE]

I thought Kate said she wasn't doing anymore appearances so she could stay home.

You guys disappoint me...lol

I came here to find out the scoop of Kate on the People Magazine cover and I didn't see any posts about it.

The lines were short at the grocery store so I didn't get to read it. Anybody?

Deb

Someone posted links to the entire article, probably 10-12 pages back if not more. This thread is moving fast. :)

Then how does she explain that he was shopping with Kate and the kids on Saturday and at the birthday party on Sunday?

Like I said, it's just a blog....just another opinion to share :goodvibes Were both books from the same publisher and will the cookbook be as well? That could be why he's been around so long?? Maybe he was hired on in the beginning and he's sticking through until all of the books have been "toured". :confused3

I think that's great that she gives them that option - they're certainly old enough to make that decision. That is a lot of pressure to constantly put on "friends" though.....

I don't think (it's changed more as of late) that anyone would think Kate's a terrible horrible person from this thread. Like I said, the last 50 pages or so (not sure since things have moved so quickly lately) that there have certainly been more harsh feelings of her shared. Kate's BFFs are still here though and they'll share the goodness to help keep the thread balanced :goodvibes

Yes the rating are huge....I've always thought actors in general are way overpaid so I guess I think $75,000 is a CRAZY amount for a tv show that's supposed to be doing you a favor and recording your family's memories - JMHO.

I don't think the "hysterics" are over Cara crying - I think it's more Kate's reaction to the cry (huge eye roll). Now I will also admit when either of my DS's are tired and fits ensue (they always manage to) I've been one to sit down on the ground to whine and cry to try and get my way (a little taste of their own medicine). Now I'm not mean about it (I don't think) and they're just little and it usually ends in laughing and the whining fit going away which is always good.

I think the hospital is close by. Likely a day trip... I don't get the impression that Kate intends to live under house arrest. LOL.

Welcome to the thread, it really moves fast. I think they deserve a whole lot more than 75K. Each person should be receiving that amount. TLC is making a ton of money off of the family.

I think someone answered that for you. Madge had the People magazine scanned for us to read, before you could buy it at newstands.

I feel TLC is making a ton of money off of this show, as I said above, each family member should be making that amount, per show.

I think everyone is making a bigger deal out of this party then it really is. Yes Cara is crying. So what kids cry. Yes Kate is making a face, well if that makes her a bad mom then I guess I am because I just rolled my eyes at my son because he was acting silly over a school project and he tends to overact.
I think people are now just reaching, trying to find something wrong when in reality it was just a typical day with 8 kids. I saw the video on Radar of the party and it did not look like there were camara's all in the kids faces. Yes they were there but they were all over the park. These kids are use to it.
If there is a picture of one of the kids looking sad that could have been them taking a million pictures at one time and they were able to pull that one because the kids face was changing or she was just looking at something. I have candid pics of my kids and they are not always smiling.

I've only seen the pictures..can you please post the link to the video? Thanks.

And I hope no one from here saw my grandson when he was 7 at Disney. Cry, whine, cry, whine. We obviously were lousy grandparents to bring him to Disney.
