I didn't realize there was more on that site about that cover....when trying to figure out where the Disney Mama comment came from I discovered this:

ahhhh. there are forums, in addition to the blog ... didn't realize that. It's getting harder and harder to keep up with all the JK8 blogs out there!

I think for a lot of people (on either side of the JK8 issue) it's either you LOVE the Gosselins or you HATE the Gosselins. It's trickier for those people who fall in between those extremes... if you can't pick a side, then you're not with us, no matter what side "us" is.

I've spoken my peace about Kate Gosselin on this thread (well, thread #2)and was raked over the coals for it, because I don't like Kate .. especially how she treated people here, after the speaking engagement. I posted stuff on this board, then found it used on other blogs without my permission .. it's CRAZY how emotional people get about the show, the family, the children .. whatever. Jon & ate are a lightning rod for controversy, and frankly, I don't know why they continue to subject themselves or their family to the public scrutiny. That's what bothers me the most, I think... that money is more important than anything else. It's sad.

I imagine there is some sort of contractual obligation in addition to the paycheck factor.

If you were in this situation, where you had ten mouths to feed, eight sets of school supplies, field trip fees, lunches to pack daily, etc. don't you think you'd try to get the most money possible for the least amount of (outside) work? I know it sounds a little cynical, but how many people say "I'm gonna go work my butt off for minimum wage today!" It's human nature to want more for less. Or to put a lovey-dovey spin on it, they're getting paid to do what they would do normally (hang out with the kids, clean the house, go to the store, etc., etc.) plus some pretty fabulous bonuses. It's not like they're subjecting themselves to the scrutiny for an extra $5 an hour or something.

Kate sure isn't doing much of that stuff. I don't think she's home long enough for any of that day to day drudgery. Maybe Jon is ..

I guess, though, in the grand scheme of things .. things said about the Gosselin children aren't all that different from things said about Suri Cruise or other famous children.

An interesting sociological experiment when all these kids are old enough to google themselves. I wonder what they'll think, and how the parents will spin it.

What the heck? That's my comment on the disboard link at the top! Guess what Totalsnowwhite, we're celebs now! Woo-hoo! Seriously, those people on the that forum are making fun of us for having "Disney" sounding names on the, guess what...THE DISNEY BOARDS! Wow, shocker that we'd pick something related to Disney on these boards huh? We're the immature ones when they're the ones ripping apart a family they don't know and then saying ridiculous things about us for commenting on our forum. Wow, I think I've heard it all now! Thanks people over on the retroblog for giving me a great laugh in the middle of my day!

BTW, last time I checked my real name isn't 3 pretty princesses!

That is how I am feeling. I watch the show every week and love the show but don't love nor hate Kate/Jon. I admire many things and am critical of other things. I think the parents absolutely love their children and are doing the best they know how for them. I do think Kate is often rude and Jon is often immature but I don't think they are rotten people/parents. I also don't excuse their behavior. If I saw someone yelling at her husband in Toys R Us, no matter who they are, I would think it was tacky.

I've been on this thread since the beginning. It seems at one time we had an equal balance between those that hate/love and those in-between. It seems the thread has mostly evolved into a lovefest which is fine. It's just not for me. I also don't post on the sites that are essentially a hate-fest.

I actually got my feelings hurt today as I felt my words were twisted. Maybe others believe that I twisted Kate's words. Unfortunately, I'm not a celebrity and don't get paid money for my opinion so I'm going to step away from this thread.

I'll say, though, that when people take offense (or go on the offense) without being called out specifically two words come to mind: guilty conscience. I see it with my students all the time.

I know, Disney is a wonderful place and obviously a lot of people feel that way or else they'd be out of business!

I agree, it's like textbook middle school behavior. Name calling, geez, I'm 36 and like to think I'm past that! Anywho, it made for a good laugh and I was sure you'd see the humor in it too!

we were accused at the end of the 2nd thread of being a bash fest. But, it has been a JK8 lovefest since we moved over here .. TotalSnowWhite and MichelleWV came back from vacation and look what happened.

I don't think there will be much to snark about until the Earth day episode. Gosselins Go Green, or whatever it's called? BTW, I thought they did that once already, with Sara Snow.... with the recycling tips and such?
