Wow, thanks so much. Is that the house in NC? Does anyone know when they're moving- or have they already in "real life":)

Okay so I just read the rest of the posts, I wonder what part of PA they're in now. I grew up in Lancaster, which was close to where they were before. It was really neat getting to see some of the places that I used to go as a kid- Dutch Wonderland, the Castle-skating rink where Cara went on her day out, Park City- the mall the Maddy got her ears pierced ect. I'm glad they're staying in PA.

I just wish they would show more footage of Kate with her boys. They showed her swimming with the girls (I can't remember if the boys were in the general area or not but if they were they didn't show her near them). Then the hula lessons with the girls while the boys get to go shopping with daddy (yippie) after a treasure hunt (lame) or was it a scavenger hunt?

Even at the meals they showed, Kate was always surrounded by the girls and the boys are at the opposite end of the table with Jenny. It seems fairly obvious to me that she favors girls. Didn't she even say pif they adopt it will be a girl? I guess she can't handle any more stinky boys.

I hope they show her doing at least one special activity with ONLY the boys, the way she seems to always do with the girls.

I looked at the photo of the new house and part of me has to wonder, do they REALLY need all that space? Really? I don't know how many sq. feet their old house was, but it seemed more than adequate to me for their needs. And I have to admit I got kind of annoyed that they went to all that trouble to recarpet the house and fix up the attic into a nice room for the twins and now they're moving.

But that's just me. YMMV.

Who decides how much space a family needs? If they feel they need (or even just want) that much house, why does it matter to anyone else?

Also, the improvements to the house just up the resale value for the owner. Why is that annoying?

Great episode last night! :thumbsup2 The resort looked beautiful! I loved when Leah was swimming under water. How cute is she? Loved the part when the lady came to take them down to the cookie making project and they kept asking her what her name was. They looked so cute in the little chef jackets. The hula lessons were cute. It was nice to see Mady happy. And I was happy that Kate and Mady both went into the water to see the sea turtles.

In the previews for next week, is that Jon's grandmother who is putting something around Kate's neck? Looking forward to next week's episode. :goodvibes

Also I read on TWOP that Matt Roloff posted a response on the TLC boards that said that for the trips TLC or whoever only pays for the days that they are being filmed. So if they took a two week vacation and only filmed one week, they had to pay for the other days out of their own pockets. I'm sure it is similar for Jon and Kate. Thought that was interesting. So the trips they take probably aren't completely free.

Jon and Kate have often said on the show that places have invited them to come stay. With the Roloff family I don't remember them ever really doing a trip or vacation as a "product placement". We know that the resort o San Diego and the one in Hawaii contacted to Gosselins and invited them to com stay there, so I'm guess that the trips were free in exchange for the free advertising.

As for the house...Who knows really. During the fan email show they hinted that the new hosue was not in PA. If the hosue shown really

Wanting to have a lot of space is one thing. Actually needing it is another.

some of you are going to faint from shock at what I'm going to say. :lmao:

of all the things that bother me about JK8. The house doesn't bother me at all. Not one bit.

there, I said it.

I should put one qualifier in there, though.... I'm curious to see who bought the house. There is some question about who actually bought the house (at least there was last week). Apparently, it isn't listed as Jon & Kate buying they house. It's a business name. I'm going to assume and hope that the business name is something set up by Jon & Kate, like a trust or something? Jon & Kate have earned a lot of money and investing in a nicer home would be a logical thing to do.

Now, if Figure8 or TLC bought the house ... then, I'm not so sure. No doubt they'll be paying for renovations to make filming easier, but to purchase the house doesn't sit well with me. It would seem like those kids are in for a LOT more work if the company is buying the family a $$$ house.

With all that said, the fancy vacations, high dollar home, etc really do move Jon & Kate away from the young, cute family struggling with the day to day life. I've seen it mentioned over and over (and I agree) that people enjoyed - for all their faults - the early episodes. People could relate to potty training, etc. I'm sure the Hawaii episodes are going to draw in many, many new viewers, though. It won't really matter what the older fan base prefers.

Get ready to faint -- I agree with you. :)

I thought the earlier shows were much more entertaining. I DVR the episodes, and have yet to finish watching the one from last week. The show just doesn't hold my interest like it did back in the day.

The Gosselin's are loaded now and can get as big of a house as they want! It makes perfect sense to me. It looks like they will be living in the lap of luxury now. They earned it.

I try to tell you people I'm not an across the board basher ... I know some of the things that bug me are silly, but I do have at least a lick of sense, sometimes. :rotfl:

I watch the show House Hunters all the time and I don't think some of those families "need" more space either, but in their minds they do and who am I to tell another family how much house they need. That's not up to me to decide.

It was important to do those upgrades for resale value, you must not watch as much HGTV that I do. Not understanding why anyone would be annoyed at that? :confused3

Too true. I am having my kitchen renovated just for the sake of bringing my co-op up to resale value.

I don't either. When they upgraded their attic, it was to give the twins more space, right? At that time, they needed it. Did they know they'd be moving so soon and frivolously remodeled? I can't imagine that they would do that.

You said it perfectly. I could relate to them struggling, using coupons, etc. I can't relate anymore, and I look at them as being spoiled rotten. I GET why they're getting freebies, thats a given. But I don't have to like it, or enjoy watching.
I won't stop watching though!:) I still love seeing those adorable kids. But please, enough already with all these trips. Bring us back to the home, and let us all relate again.

I don't remember them saying the house wasn't in PA, but I do recall them saying it wasn't in the same school district. We'll see soon enough.

IMHO adding another bedroom upstairs isn't frivolous. As MichelleVW and FergieTCat have indicated remodeling to up resale value is common.
In fact I often wonder watching the shows on HGTV if some people change their minds about selling after following through with all the improvements they made. It often really depends on what is selling well in th area. IE If 4BR homes are the standard and pr selling better in their neighborhood, it would be hard to sell a 3BR.

that was my point. it isn't.

I can't imagine that they would have done all they work if they knew for sure they'd be moving so soon.

I loved the episode last night..mostly because my DH and I went to Hawaii on our honeymoon and although we didn't stay at the same hotel as Jon and Kate, we visited it and had dinner at Humu Humu, (it showed them having dinner there last night). It looks like the entire family had fun. I loved the hula lessons and watching the kids play in the pool.
