Anybody know anything about this place? Online it looks like a nice clean place just older.

Yes. The Jolly Roger is an older motel though nicely kept. They had added two large tower onto it many years ago and those were seperated a couple years ago and turned into the Portofino Inn and Suites. The older Part of the Jolly Roger is still there. I have been meaning to try it out. My Sister stayed there the week DCA opened and said it was clean, comfortable and fine. The walk from the Jolly Roger to the parks would be about 10-12 minutes.

jollly roger has been there as long as I can remember, and I am older than dirt LOL--but it always seemed well kept--I have never stayed there, sorry

Trust me, go around the corner to the Candy Cane and you will be much happier.

I agree with YTL, I was at the JR in 2001, it was very run down, the rooms had that musty, midewy smell, it was not a good place IMO. The pics of the Candy Cane look much nicer, but I haven't stayed there.

PS I did not stay at the JR, it was the HQ for the other Disney group that was there for the weekend. I was at the Fairfield Inn, very nice, clean, no complints there.

I don't know about the JR, but ditto for the Fairfield. Very clean, and comfortable. Not much of a pool, but decent. An added bonus was a clear view of the fireworks at night.

Thanks all. I was looking at a possible trip using the Disney club and it was one of the cheapest. The Holiday Inn Anahiem at the Park is not much more.

Might I sugest trying a 3 star disneyland area hotel using priceline?

I have never gone wrong and my bids are frequently around 35 dollars.

OK, this may not be of much help, but my family always stayed at the Jolly Roger when we used to go to Disnaeyland when I was a kid. It was always a clean and comfortable (but not fancy) motel. However, realize that these trips were about 25 to 40 years ago. I still remember that during my first trip to Disneyland we walked from the Jolly Roger and passed real Orange Groves! Last time I went to Disneyland (6 years ago) we stayed at a nice adjacent motel that is no longer there (torn down for the DCA complex).

As I say, I don't know if this is much help but the Jolly Roger gives me such wonderful memories in our 3 or 4 trips we stayed there I just had to reply.

In any case have a great trip.

Stan
