Just wondering what the general opinion is regarding joining the Disney Club to get the resorts discounts coming out on April 1st...supposedly a week before it will be available to the general public. Is it worth joining for that or do you think there will be rooms available when it becomes available to everyone a week later.

Not sure how this discount thing works.

Thanks, Lisa

Why don't you see what the deal is first. I'm sure there will be people posting on this board. If you would save money by joining, do so then and don't wait until it is available to general public.

honeymom...

the DC site says it takes 2-3 weeks to receive your membership but do you know if you actually get a membership number as soon as you join? And will you need a number when you book or is it like the AP rates...book & show proof at check-in?

Thanks,
Lisa

Lisa,
I joined online a few months ago and got my # immediately. I imagine if you call they would also give you your # to use right away.

When you join online they send you a confirmation e-mail that has your #. You can use that membership # immediately. I did just that last month.

I also joined the DC a few weeks ago. I got my membership # within 24 hours, booked my trip and saved my self $200 (hoping for more with the new discount on April 1st):sunny:

Another good thing about DC is that you can cancel your memebership and get your $$ back within 90 days.

The DC website actually does not give you a lot of info on discount. You will only see them once you join. If you want, I can give you a copy of the springs benefit of DC membership.

So I see this membership as fool-proof.

Good luck!

I'd love to see some of the examples.:D

Thanks!!

-- one day free car rental for 3 days + car rental
-- 10% on car rental
-- various discount for Disney Travel Packages (I got $75 off for my Discovery Magic Plan)
-- 1 800 number to call for travel reservation and restaurant PS (save $$ on long distance.. I am from Canada)
-- various discount on resort and hotel
-- discount on tickets for shows (Beauty & Beast, Disney on Ice, new Disney movies)
-- discount at disney stores and stores in Downtown Disney
-- discount at Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Cafe...etcs.

you can also see some information at www.mousesavers.com

So far, I love DC... that's one way of enjoy the Disney Magic.

jeank74 - Thanks for the quick response. Like you mentioned, the DC website doesn't give much info.

jeank74 - I sent you a private e-mail...you can check it by going to the bottom of the main discussion page...might want to check it.

Do you think the specials will be made "known" to DC members a week early and available for anyone to use or "available" to DC members only for the first week....what has it been in the past or has it never been offered a week early to DCers before? Anyone know?

the discounts will be available to DC members on April 1st and to the general public a week later...

when I booked with the spring special - I received DC discounts above what was posted for the general public - saved money on UPH passes, discovery magic package & car rental. (I booked the airfare myself)

If you call to join DC then you get your membership number right away.

Are the DC discounts usually on packages or can they be for room only?

When I did the math - and asked pointed questions of the CM doing the booking - the room was the same as what was offered to the general public. The extra discounts came in the price for UPH passes, the car rental & the discovery magic package - over what was quoted for non-DC code price.
