I would like to know if it is worth joining the AAA. What type of discount do you get with them? I already have a package booked for the month of July for Pop Century for 2 adults and 1 child. I booked 2 reservations, 1 for 10 days with 10 day tickets with the dining plan and the other reservation was for 6 days hotel only.

If I join the AAA now can I get the discounted rate? Does Disney have an AARP rate? I never asked when I booked my trip.

yOU CAN DEFINATELY CALL..THEY ONLY HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF DISCOUNTED, aaa Ap OR OTHERS THAT THEY HAVE SET ASIDE. wHEN YOU MAKE THE RESERVATION YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE THE aaa MEMBERSHIP JUST WHEN YOU ARRIVE. nOT SURE ON aarP...

There is not an AARP rate. The AAA rate is 10-15% off rack rate, depending on which resort you book. If you call an AAA agent and ask the price for a package, they will be able to give you a quote so you can make an accurate comparison of how much you would save and decide from there. ~Ev

I got Pop for July 9-15 for $84.15 per night, which is 15% off rack rate. Not phenomenol, but every little bit helps. It saved us about $90 total.

I've had AAA for several years, but this is the first time I've used their travel department (always had an AP or did room only's with passes). Considering my current vehicle is 12 years old, it's nice to know I have it for at least the towing aspect alone. You can also get discounts to the movies and certain stores as well as on trips. I priced the package I wanted on the official Disney site, then called my AAA office and asked about the same thing. Ended up saving about $400. I also looked at AAA for a 2 night stay in August at the Movies and was quoted $84.

AAA is definately a way to save money. You will probably get a %15 discount on your rooms. There is no discount on park tickets or dining plan. Once you join AAA get their credit card. You can use your rebates on future travel purchases plus save 5% on gas purchases.

I believe you can get WDW park hopper passes at AAA for a discount. Not all offices have these in stock.

I joined this Saturday to take advantage of the AAA discount. I paid full registration fee and got DW a membership for free with booking the trip. Saved almost $300 off the cost of the trip too. Worth it to us.

so could someone clarify for me...the aaa rate includes the normal dining plan and the tickets are or are not available cheaper? do you make the ressie through them? or disney?

so it's 10-15 % off the room plus tickets and dp the same cost as if i got it at disney? does anyone know if a better promo comes out after you book can you change to that with out penalties?

Thanks always looking for a bargain :teeth:

When I did my ressies I went thru Disney and you can change if you want but if you go thru AAA i don't think you can

Maybe this is a question that needs to be asked on a AAA board, but who needs to be a membership holder to get these discounts? Just one primary holder or do I have to get a depentdant membership for my wife and kids also (i.e. everyone in my travelling party)?

That's what we got All Star Music for in June!! That's a nice little saving especially because we have two rooms reserved!

For the time being(while waiting for any October discounts to come out), we have a room only ressie through Magical Journeys(use them every trip and wouldn't do it any other way) and are getting the AAA discount. I don't even have AAA right now, but will get right before I pay off the balance if need be. You don't need to go through a AAA agent to get these discounts nor do you need to have the AAA at the time of booking. I think we'll end up not using it and going with the pkg and DP, but I wanted to go ahead and book something. This was a great way to do it!

sorry evidently i am slower than usual tonight :confused3

so with triple a i just call disney, make my ressie as normal and tell them i have triple a? ( and show card at check in)

then can someone tell me for sure if i can or can not change it and get a disney promo if it's better but comes out later? guess i could just cancel and redo but want tomake sure i won't lose anything in the process.

i figured at 15% would save me almost $400 so it would be worth it for me if that's the way it works

On the phone when I was inquiring about the DCL the rep told me the best way was to put it on my Disney card to get the $100 ship credit, then the $50 credit for the reservation through Disney and lasst was once all of that was done to switch the reservation to AAA in order to obtain their discounts! I was kinda shocked that a disney employee would tell you that!

can you book 2 rooms with AAA discount or do 2 people have to have seperate memberships (ie 1 per room booked)

I got the AAA rate for the two rooms we booked. The CM just asked for my card # . :)

AAA is about 46.00 per year for basic membership. You get the discounts, but also have roadside assistance and they come unlock you if you lock your keys in and such and have limited towing. My Dad always made all of us keep our AAA memberships up to date. One of those things you never knew you wanted until you need it. :teeth:

And a cool AAA benefit: It goes with YOU, not your car. So if you go to FL, rent a car, and need a tow, you just call and show your card. If you (as I did once) go to a concert with a friend and she locks her keys in her car, you can call AAA to come get them out. If her car had broken down, they would have towed it for us, as long as an AAA member was in the car.
