Joined Patina Groups birthday club

Totally missed the bolded part, so that is good to know. I will be checking this out in about 10 days, woohoo. :goodvibes

I didn't notice where you live, but one of the first things you select is a State from the drop-down box, well, we live in North Carolina, and they sent my DH a coupon for restaurants in New York. So I signed him back up using an office e-mail addy and selected California as my state. If you want California locations, choose California in the drop-down, not where you actually live.

We'll be going for my birthday next year... I hope this deal will still be available then!

So has anyone used their voucher lately? If so how did it go?

I'd like to use mine at Uva Bar, but since it says you have to make reservations and I don't think Uva takes reservations I guess you can't use it there?:confused3

My voucher came in my inbox, and it is valid for 2 weeks past my bday, which hasn't happened yet.

However, it does specifically state that it covers $30 after the first $30. It even gives an example. It's not fine print, either. It's very clear and near the top of the voucher.

That's awful that people didn't tip out of pocket, just expected it to come out of the voucher :(

As for food, I like both. Naples is kind of "fancy" pizza which is maybe why some people don't care for it. For instance my husband ordered one with quail eggs on it. Not my thing, but he loved it.

Tortilla Jo's probably has the best house margarita in DLR. It is so good. They are super pricey for Mexican food ... I find that I'm happy with something off the appetizer menu.

That's really weird. I got mine last week and it doesn't read like that at all. And mine was good for 60 days after my birthday.

I used mine on Sunday night. We made a last minute reservation, but didn't mention the voucher (someone else in our party made the reservation).

The only issue I ran into is that you can't use your Annual Pass for any discount if you're using the voucher.

wow, so this really can end up being a great deal.

Mary Jo- had you made ressies or did you just walk in and then let your server know of your certificate ?

Sorry, I didn't see the question earlier.

We just walked up without reservations and were able to eat there. We went in the early afternoon, and there was literally no waiting, and we were seated right away.

I told the waitress when we were seated that I had a certificate, and she said 'no problem' with a smile. I didn't mention it again until the check came. I gave them my certificate and they took $30 off of the $57.xx bill, so I was charged $27.xx for the meal. I then tipped for the $57.xx total, and since service was excellent she got a good tip. So, in my case, I did not pay $30 before the voucher was applied.

They may have changed the way they are accepting these vouchers to ensure that the restaurants really don't lose money.

Like, ImTooExcitedToSleep, our vouchers were good up to 60 days after our birthdays and when I signed up after my birthday (but in that window of time) I got a certificate.

The waitress told us that the person who put this promotion into effect no longer works for the Patina group.

Thank you so much for letting us know about this! My mom and I are going this September right between our 2 birthdays and we are potentially going to be able to use 2 certificates! $60 off our food budget means more souveniers!!! :cool1:

ImTooExcitedToSleep - What's in the highlighted part in the yellowish color is what I'm talking about. Some people were making it sound like servers were taking it on bills for less than $30, and people were walking out paying nothing. I was saying it clearly doesn't mean for that to happen.

I didn't mean that it said what I wrote verbatim, I just wrote it a bit differently, but what I said and what the certificate said have the same meaning. It amounts to $30 after the first $30, but you have to spend $60 to get the full $30. On their example, you spend $88, save $30. However you want to do the math, both work out the same. You spend $30, they pick up the next $30, you get the next $28 for the same total in the example.

I could be wrong about the expiration, but it doesn't matter b/c I'm going to be in CA two weeks after my birthday (hence where I probably have 2 weeks). 60 days doesn't do anything for me. :goodvibes

I think you're right, carolinamama. The waitress told me that some people had got less than $30 worth of food, dropped the certificate on the table and left - doesn't mean that that was acceptable, but it had happened.

I didn't follow up with her to ask if the restaurant workers had followed those people & asked them to pay, but she gave me the impression that they had not.

In my case, the restaurant took off $30 even though my bill was less than $60 - they may have changed it, but that is my experience.

How soon before your birthday do they send it to you? I thought I read 60 days?

My birthday was in early May so when I signed up last week they sent it right away. It has my birthday printed at the top of the page.

So does anyone know if you can use it at Uva Bar? Their menu looks the best to me and we have amazing Mexican restaurants at home so we rarely get Mexican on vacation so I'd rather pass on Tortilla Jo's. The certificate says Catal and Uva Bar, but it says you must make reservations and Uva Bar doesn't take reservations ( I think :confused3).

If no one here knows I'll give them a call and pass on any info I get.

i like all.. naples, tortillia jo's .both are good. naples has good pizza, and yummy salads. tortilla jo's has in the mind the best fish tacos....

hope that helps! :yay:

Just registered for my certificate so assuming they still have them next year and they are good for 60 days after my bday we will be using them during our May trip.
Checked out all the menus and looks like all 3 places have some good stuff, obviously just hard to compare since they are completely different. And just for very future reference can someone tell me how big the salads are at Naples?

Thanks!

Sherry E. posted that a small pizza might feed 2-3 people depending on how hungry people are. So, here is my question to anyone that might have ate there before.
We are traveling with 3 teenage boys (13,14, and 16) my husband and I. I signed up for the birthday club because my husbands birthday is August 10th and I read that they will email you the certificate the last week of the month before your birthday. We will be at DL thru july 29th so, my first question. Does anyone know if you can use it before your birthday?
Second question is how big are the pizza's in comparison? I looked at the menu and assuming that my dh and I get dinner salads, we order a family size pizza and 5 drinks (well 4 I always drink water) if we are able to use the coupon the bill would come out to around $70 then I could minus the $30 which would make my meal $40 plus tip on pre certificate total. Which to feed 5 people at DL is really good.
Does anyone know if there is a flaw in this before I make a ressie?
thanks for the help.

I had made my reservations for 11:30 am lunch at both Tortilla Joes and Naples- and now I went to print out my coupon to get ready for visit next week and noticed the coupon states for after 5 pm... did anyone have problems with this before 5 or are they strict?

I have not signed up with the birthday club. didn’t even know about it till now, so I will sign up BUT, I have raved about Naples and tortilla jo’s before and in a good way. :)

I have always had the best food at Naples, oh I don’t maybe it’s my luck but the service is always spectacular ! The food is awesome hands down, and for tortilla Jo’s, love those fish tacos!! :thumbsup2

Mmmmm yummy, getting hungry just thinking about it! I think also catal/uva bar is apart of patina group also and umm I have eaten at Uva, it was good, a bit pricy, but good! :)

I was surprised to see my original post resurface. Here is an update on what we did. Our first night at the hotel, the four of us went to Tortilla Jo's. Food was o.k., nothing special. I don't remember how much the bill was, but I can check when I get home if anyone cares.

The rest of the week, DH and I were on our own, we chose to eat at Naples. I believe we had the "middle size" pizza of the three sizes available, and I believe that was called the "Family" size. It was delicious. We ate it all but 3 pieces, and I took those back to the Bell Services stand at the hotel and asked if they would be interested. The guys there jumped at the chance.

The pizza was so good, we went back and ate there the next night, too, and I have been thinking about that pizza ever since. :lovestruc

We did not have a reservation for either night, and I believe our wait both times was around 10 minutes or so. I have had longer waits at places where I did have a reservation.

I definitely plan on going back to Naples. I would go back to Tortilla Jos if I couldln't get into Naples. HTH
