Join the letter writing campaign re: new Loews program

So is everyone extended to 2010 or just if you send an email? We stay at Loews Hotels all over North America because of their great program. We won't anymore if this is the case. I'll just look for the cheapest hotel instead.

I sent an email. I wonder how many they are getting.

My automated e-mail arrived before I sent an e-mail to corporate, so I doubt it had anything to do with my e-mail to them.

Mine has no mention of staying one more night to get the additional 12 months, just that my platinum status has been extended to January, 2010.

Perhaps it is because we have already stayed our night in 2008 to extend the 12 months?

But Damo, haven't you already stayed at least one night this year?

Good for all you guys who got a response. Even an automated one. I have not even received an automated response. :(

Maybe because I asked them flat out to explain to me how it makes sense that someone can have 2 stays for a total of 12 nights and be Blue and one person have 10 separate stays of 1 night each for 10 nights and be Platinum. They obviously don't want to answer my question. We'll be taking our vacation dollars elsewhere.

Maybe that is why yours is reading different than mine. My email said:

"We've missed you. The enhanced benefits of our new YouFirst program are a great reason to stay with us soon.

You're automatically enrolled in YouFirst as a Platinum member until January 1, 2009. Extend your Platinum membership status for an additional 12 months just by staying with us at least once between now and then.

Maybe since my stay hasn't happened yet, it will in November, mine is reading differently than yours? :confused3

Sorry for the confusion, I may have read it wrong, it says you are automatically enrolled until 2009, extend it an additional 12 months with one stay.

So I read that to mean, I am platinum until Jan 2009, 6 months from now, if I stay before that time they will extend it another year, making it 2010. Am I reading this wrong?? I am sooooooooooo confused!!! :headache:

mine read:

Now there are more reasons than ever to experience a Loews Hotel and start enjoying the benefits of your YouFirst membership.

this email came before today's flurry of posts on the dis.

this is the 3rd email i have received but the others said, i was switched over from loews first to loews youfirst program.

as it stands, any platinum member that stays just once at a loews hotel between today thru jan 1st, will automatically recieve one more year at platinum level.

check and see if it went into your spam folder.
my last one did but i retrieved it.

i'm good to go for the extension but only have one little problem now, per loews', i do not have a ressie for oct this year.

nothing in their files....

good thing i printed out my confirming email when i made the ressie.....
that's the only thing that will save my butt.

Nope, no SPAM folder. No nothing. Loews obviously doesn't want to answer my question because they realize how dumb their logic is.

Strange how these generated, automatic, emails all seem to read differently. Mine came at 4:50 pm yesterday...after all the hype here. It reads:

We're in full swing!
LoewsFirst is now YouFirst. With exciting new benefits for our Blue members. Like special YouFirst offers from our valued partners. And free internet. It's our way of saying "thank you" for your continued loyalty.

You're automatically enrolled in YouFirst as a Blue member until January 1, 2009. Extend your Blue membership status for an additional 12 months just by staying with us at least once between now and then.

I am platinum and mine said the same thing.

I called the new Customer Service number this AM to ask a few questions. I inquired whether my 7/4 stay would count as my one stay before 1/1/09. Answer - no, my stay has to occur after 7/15/08. Looks like I'll ake my son to se the Real Pirates exhibit in Phila this summer.

I asked if they would continue to match other reward programs like Marriott and the answer is no.

I inquired about the $100 credit and if that applies per stay, whether one night or 5 nights. She said it is credited per stay, no matter how many nights. I am not sure I am confidant in this answer as that seems too ggod t be true for just a one night stay.

I inquired about the special welcome gift and was told it is along the same lines as the welcome gift that was available to all Loewsfirst members but it will now only be available for Gold and Platinum members.

So it looks like we will be Platinum members until 1/2010 at which time we revert to Gold, I am assuming until 1/2011. My main goal for Platinum was the free upgrade to a suite. Since it appears most people will be in the same position as me and lose my Platinum status as of 1/2010, there should be more suites available for upgrade at check-in. It seems suites are always fully booked before I check-in.

I got the same 2009 email. I took it to read that if I don't stay again between now and January, I am bumped back down to blue.

This program is geared towards businessmen who have their companies paying for their rooms. There aren't many families who will benefit from this at all.

That's what I got too. So, since I won't be staying there until next spring, I will no longer be a platinum member 6 months from now even though I stayed 7 nights this spring.

Wouldn't you be bumped down to Gold for a year before down to Blue? I thought you do down one level at a time.

Yes, you are bumped down one level each year.

DH said, well we'll go visit Philly 9 times in 2010. It's only $200 a night. :scared1: But I guess if we get the $100 credit, our dinner is paid for. Hmmm, maybe he is on to something. LOL! :rotfl:

Very few people have the luxury of doing that. I know with the Orlando vacations, we usually go once or twice but stay for 7 days. That will give us a max of two qualifying stays. That just doesn't seem fair. In two years, we will be back to blue after so many years of spending thousands of dollars at the hotels.

It is just hard to take that businessmen who don't even pay for their own rooms will be the ones who benefit from this new You First. They should have named it Businesses First. Perhaps that is where they wanted their hotels to get the business. I don't know but it is disappointing.

Well, I got my email today telling me to log in using my email address and use the Loews First number as my password. Finally got it to work, but as others have mentioned I don't think we'll get much from it. On our visit in October '06 we received no acknowledgement of it at all, so I'm not holding out much hope for future trips. ORL and the Don Caesar are the closest Loews to us, I like the pet policy, wa making us lean more toward them for our next ORL trip, which will probably be in fall or the holidays. I guess if I can squeeze it in before the January cutoff I'll at least keep Blue!

Don't get me wrong Damo, I know we are lucky to be in an area where the Loews hotel is pretty reasonable, $179.00 isn't to bad, DH and I were just joking about it. I doubt very highly I am going to fork over $1800 to remain a platinum member. I am in total agreement that I think it sucks the way they are pushing out the loyal family travelers to make way for the business traveler and giving them the perks. It was nice that Loews did it for so long, but I guess all good things come to an end. I will be enjoying my final 2 years of platinum status and who knows, maybe the response will be so negative in that time that they change it back. :confused3

Tizzy Meliss, did you notice on the list of new benefits it mentioned free internet, is this new? Seemed like it was something like $10 a day when we stayed at Portofino Bay.

Yeah I noticed that too, last time we stayed at the HRH (only blue member at the time) they charged us $9.95 for internet. My stepson packed up his whole computer to take with us. :sad2:

Oh, I know. I just meant that although it is possible for people to maintain their status by doing things like this, not many people could or would. It might be worth it to some people though. Staying in a suite is big bucks!!!
