It is truly heartbreaking what John Travolta and family are going thru right now, and, as many have long suspected, John disclosed that his son Jett was autistic and had a seizure disorder while testifying in the Bahamas in the alleged extortion against him. My son is autistic as well and ironically the same doctor delivered our boys, as I live in the Daytona area and the Travoltas used to live here as well. So sad:(

Legitimate link or source please. :magnify:

I have often wondered why the Travolta family didn't say earlier that he was autistic. As I recall, they weren't wanting to discuss it, give it a name, etc. I say this not from a "celebrity news, we want to hear it all" standpoint, but perhaps it would have been good for other parents out there, perhaps they could have been a source of support for other parents going through the same thing. I'm not wanting to come across at all as being harsh or assuming that I know why they made the decisions they did. I truly feel bad for this family - what a tragedy.

what the heck are the two Bahamians trying to do exactly? they want money for what?

He always said that his son wasn't austic because they don't believe in that in scientology. Why is he now admiting to it?? Thats wierd.

Because John signed a "refuse to transport" form that basically said he did not want Jett to be taken to the hospital. What those sleezes were trying to insinuate he was refusing care for his child. They wanted $25 million for the form or it would be leaked out. The testimony from what I have read & eyewitnesses at the scene are quite different. In those desperate moments when their child was receiving CPR from his nanny & John himself he thought if he flew his child to Miami he would receive better care. He then changed his mind & the child was taken to the hospital in the Bahamas where he later passed away. It's beyond disgusting what this family was put through

some guesses as to why now...maybe to be completely forthcoming in his testimony, maybe the rumours that he has soured on scientology are true, or maybe he wants to bring more to public awareness the potential seriousness of a seizure disorder in an autistic child.

Because he is under oath in a court of law?

If there was ever documentation (medical records, etc) that diagnosed autism it wouldn't matter if as Scientologists the Travolta's didn't believe in the condition. It is a medically established condition and if documents listing the condition could be produced it could be construed as perjury for Travolta to deny it in court. "Lying" could taint his entire testimony.

Well I guess it depends on how he said it. If he TRUELY believes that his son is not autistic, then its not lying. But I don't know how he was asked, or how he answered it. He could have said something like "I don't believe he was autistic, but a Dr. come to another conclusion." hence NOT admitting that he son had it.

I hope this is true as he and Kelly Preston have a website speaking out against the drug that has given ds who has seizures, his life back.

I feel horrible for the family but especially for their child. I hope (but doubt) that he received legitimate therapy along with whatever Scientology regimen they put him through. As the parent of a child with autism, I am actually glad they didn't do what Jenny McCarthy has done. There is enough "crazy talk" out there about autism. I would hate for people to believe that Scientology offers hope for their autistic kids.

Then why all these years has Kelly saying he was the way he was from all the carpet cleaning chemicals they used? She gave it another name. Not autistic. Did she & John not agree with what was wrong with Jett?

Really? I never heard that one, then again, I never really followed them at all. I heard that they said Jet had some condition that primarially Asian people get. I forget what it was though.

Maybe they changed their story again because for the longest time she blamed it on carpet cleaners. She was very outspoken about it. They used to have their carpets cleaned every week when Jett was little so he could crawl around on clean carpets. There is a name she used for the illness but I don't know it. Some googling will find it though.

Kawasaki disease

I think John even as a brother or relative who did a documentary about autism & they wouldn't speak or attend anything to do with it.

Kawasaki Disease. He may have had that. Autisim isn't an "only" diagnosis. He had a seizure disorder also , and may have also had the Kawasaki. Or it may have been misdiagnosed initially.

They may also belive that the autisim was caused by the carpet cleaners and/or Kawasaki.

Very sad for the family. :sad1:

I can only pray that the child did have the care that was available to autistic children...despite the parents "belief" in Scientology. To think otherwise is horrifying!

Maybe they just didn't want to turn Jett into a celebrity poster child for autism, so they kept the diagnosis under wraps.
