or anyone who can remember what John said!

In a post recently you mentioned that you had tried several systems for your car to play your iPod through the radio. I am currently in search of this type device and can't find the thread where you mentioned that best one you had found so far. Hope you see the thread and can jog my memory!

TIA

I found John's post...

We bought a Griffin iTrip for the PT Cruiser and it works suprisingly well.

We have an auxillary port in the other car so we're kind of spoiled - the iPod really sounds best when you have a direct connection. We tried various FM transmitters and all worked well but there was always some sort of static - this one really works great.

You plug it into your cars cigaratte lighter so it also charges your iPod. It doesn't go through the CD player - it goes through the radio.

If you go to this page http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itrip/ we have the one on the far left (black).

I bought ours at BJ's but I'm sure you can get it anywhere iPod accessories are sold.

Thanks Kevin. I bought a Belkin one yesterday that looks like that but doesn't work very well. I will return mine and look for the one you guys have, maybe it will work better.

I had the Belkin one too - it is awful. I don't know the brand name of the one I am currently using - (I switched with DH!) but it also charges my MP3 player if needed. (don't use iPod)

Yep i got (stole :lmao:) a Belkin one from my dad, and it's terrible!!

:goodvibes

My newest favorite gadget is I got a new cell phone that holds a memory card. I can download music/podcasts onto the card. Then the phone pairs up with my other new gadget, a MOTOROKR T505 Bluetooth Car Kit. The Bluetooth tells me what FM station to go to and completely wireless - plays the music perfectly!! I love it!!! I have to admit, I haven't done the podcast yet, I only just got it, but I've been using it with music so I'm sure the podcast will work equally as well. (my phone is a Motorola W490, no bells, no whistles, just a phone - except for the memory card).

I went and picked up the Griffin model, thanks for the info. If this one doesn't work I think I will look into getting a direct connection installed in my Tahoe.

It's only a 2006 and I have no plans to get a new car ANYTIME soon, but the next car will have to have the direct port!

I use the Griffin iTrip too and it works great. In fact, we have one for each car. I must add though that one of them seems to have a loose wire and we get a few crackles if it isn't sitting still.

We had the monster brand until we bought a new car. It had the plug in spot. Of course, you have to be a genius to find it, but ti's there. I bought a Griffin case for my itouch. Unfortunately, the 1st one I bought was missing a piece. The second one I bought was for an iphone :( One of these days I'll get the right thing.

Well the Griffin iTrip didn't work very well either. I have a friend who has been in the car stereo business for years. I guess I will give him a call and see what it would take to get a direct port installed.

Thanks for the help everyone!

FYI - DH had Best Buy install a port into his '07 Accord. It hardly took any time for them to get it installed, and everything cost about $200...well worth it if you plan on keeping your car for a while!

Since I'm sort-of in the market for a new vehicle (the SUV has 110k on it but still runs well) I was looking forward to trying out the Ford Fusion I rented this weekend because I've been intrigued by the MS Sync ads. Was it a let down. I'm sure the Sync works well with some phones and systems but after all the time it took to find the USB port (I gave up and looked at the directions) in the center console when I plugged in my iPhone 3g I was sooooo disappointed to get the "this accessory is not designed to work" with my iPhone. And no, I don't want to put my iPhone in airplane mode. I sure hope Ford comes up with an upgrade for the 3g.
