Of course, the proof is always in the pudding. We never know for sure if they'll follow through on their campaign promises until they're actually in office, now do we?
Many of the things Pres. Bush talks about intending to do are not important to me, while the things Sen. Kerry talks about are important to me. JMO
So true and ITA on both counts.Originally posted by Rutt and Tuke
IMO one has to mentally insert "I will try to" in front of every promise by any political candidate. There are way too many complicating factors-- we don't live in a dictatorship. IMO anyone who takes the promises literally is naive, but the promises do point towards what their intentions are and that is what I care about.

Are you guys being serious? That was a disaster. He rushed through it... not even pausing when he should have (people trying to clap)... sweating profusely.

I agree. It could be anyone but Bush and the opposition would still think he/she did a great job.

Nope, just from a different perspective I guess. Mine was from an open mind.Originally posted by Pugdog007
We must have been watching a different show.

I seriously thought this thread would be, "Wow he did not do well... what now?"
We must have been watching a different show. All of the speakers prior to him (that were televised) put him to shame.
Definately not a polished speaker.
Another vote here. It's a shame that most Texans are so rigid about voting along party lines.Originally posted by Aristocath
A Kerry/Edwards vote from this Texan! I thought it was a very positive upbeat speech.

"Hope, not fear" Wouldn't that be a nice change in attitude? A sense of hope would be a relief IMO.

I just find John Kerry & John Edwards to be very optimistic and cheerful. I have ALWAYS viewed George W. Bush as being not a nice person to say the least. He took our bad 9/11 situation where the entire world was feeling bad for us and turned it around so we look like bullies and now no one really wants to help us.
I think that the world would look better on us with someone different in office and I think John Kerry is that man!
