John Kerry for President!

I totally disagree. I think he looked very comfortable and the words flowed naturally. I think he was confident and excited to deliver his message. JMO, of course.

Of course, the proof is always in the pudding. We never know for sure if they'll follow through on their campaign promises until they're actually in office, now do we?

IMO one has to mentally insert "I will try to" in front of every promise by any political candidate. There are way too many complicating factors-- we don't live in a dictatorship. IMO anyone who takes the promises literally is naive, but the promises do point towards what their intentions are and that is what I care about.

Many of the things Pres. Bush talks about intending to do are not important to me, while the things Sen. Kerry talks about are important to me. JMO

So true and ITA on both counts.

Great speech!!! Wish the networks had not rushed him through
it. My neighbors set off fireworks and people were out clanging
pots like they did on the Millennium New Years! Around here
the slogan is "Hope, NOT FEAR!"

Go Johnny Go!

I saw his daughters speak...very well done. Almost brought me to tears a few times. I switched channels when they showed the film and were really pushing his Viet Nam service afterwords....a bit overdone in my opinion. Kids started watching a DVD so I missed his speech...will have to check out the news tonight and tomorrow morning.

Are you guys being serious? That was a disaster. He rushed through it... not even pausing when he should have (people trying to clap)... sweating profusely.

He looked very uncomfortable.

I agree.::yes:: It could be anyone but Bush and the opposition would still think he/she did a great job.

Nope. But I suspect that if he had spoken at his usual pace, we would have heard comments from his opponents that they fell asleep.

He was no Pres. Clinton or Obama in terms of speaking, but I truly feel like he gave a powerful speech-- some of it had to do with the words and some with the expression and energy.

I seriously thought this thread would be, "Wow he did not do well... what now?"

We must have been watching a different show. All of the speakers prior to him (that were televised) put him to shame.

Definately not a polished speaker.

Nope, just from a different perspective I guess. Mine was from an open mind.

Tiggersmom--Nah, if Cheney spoke, I probably wouldn't approve either;)
And for the record, I don't consider myself the opposition.

I don't think this could be more untrue. Kerry did a great job of staying positive, delineating what the next administration will do to ensure the future success of America, and charting a course for the next three months.

VERY well done!!!

A Kerry/Edwards vote from this Texan! I thought it was a very positive upbeat speech.

Another vote here. It's a shame that most Texans are so rigid about voting along party lines.

"Hope, not fear" Wouldn't that be a nice change in attitude? A sense of hope would be a relief IMO.

And a vote for Kerry from PA (via South Korea!)

I just find John Kerry & John Edwards to be very optimistic and cheerful. I have ALWAYS viewed George W. Bush as being not a nice person to say the least. He took our bad 9/11 situation where the entire world was feeling bad for us and turned it around so we look like bullies and now no one really wants to help us.

I think that the world would look better on us with someone different in office and I think John Kerry is that man!

Well said!!!
Over here in Europe the vast majority hopes that the US-voters send Bush and Cheney into early retirement.
And let's hope that Jeb Bush stays in Florida and we don't have to go through the whole ordeal again in 8 or 12 years ;)

After 4 days of John Kerry's coronation and a rambling, incoherent, utterly "theme-less" speech - complete with flop-sweat - we still don't know anything about him that took place between the years of 1969 and 2004. Nor has he ever said exactly HOW he's going to accomplish all these general goals he sets forth.
There are reasons for this. He doesn't want you to know what he's been up to since he's back from Vietnam (he served in Nam, did you know that?) And we, and most importantly, he, has no specific plan for what he will do.

When it came time to stand and deliver, he failed. . And is it just me or did it seem like the speech was on 78RPM's and he thought his mike wasn't working? This was a stylistic performance of a 9th grader running for Student Council, not the most powerful position in the world. What the Dems were hoping for was Bill Clinton or Barack Obama (or even Rev. Al), not Annie Wexler. It's pretty sad when the best part of the speech was the choice of Van Halen's "Dreams" as a finishing song.

And for a guy who said "Judge Me On My Record", he said virtually nothing about it.
