John & Kate Take A Vacation

Its an interesting show - i do sometimes watch it.

I do find Kate whacko the way she is on John and to the kids too, more of a schoolmistress than a mommy - but then John comes across as a bit dopey and lazy too. At least she HAS a personality, even if its one that cuckoo, he seems to have none!

the one thing I find sad ..... you dont ever seen them PLAY with the kids. Having spend the large part of the last 5 years under a sheet tent in the kids room, or dressing up as a pirate, or building sandcastles I really ENJOY my kids and do something I never thought I could .... I behave childishly!!

you never see that with them, but then TLC only airs what it wants us to see .....

It's just her accent, I believe. I haven't ever noticed it as 'are'. I've heard it as 'our life'. *shrugs*

My wife never noticed it either until I pointed it out. Now all she hears during the intro is "It's R life."

I don't really have a problem with people who pronounce "our" the same way they do "are" but I've decided to make an exception for Kate.

My wife watches this "wonderful" program where a seemingly nice guy and his cranky wife take their 50 kids on awesome vacations.

Does it bug anybody else whenever Kate says, "It's are life?"

I hate this show!!! Jon seems really nice but Kate is a YOU-KNOW-WHAT!!!!:scared1: And all those bratty kids..... :headache: My mom used to watch this but I finally convinced her to quit.... so thankfully the TV goes off AFTER Little People, Big World now (which I love).

What you see in John is a defeated husband. Every time she says something to him on the show I swear you can see him pondering suicide.

There's a WDW episode, they DRIVE down with all the kids. :scared:

They stay at the Wilderness Lodge though, so it was a fun episode.

Kate seems super OCD, I often wonder if Jon has to take copious amounts of Xanax to keep from throttling her.

I watched this one. It gave me a total :headache: !! Imagine being at WDW with that many kids..... oh, the horror.:scared1:

Love the show. Love the kids. We tune in every monday and wouldn't miss it. Kate is my least favorite in the family but hey we all have our issues.

I like the show but that bugs me so much.

"It's OUR life" not "It's are life"

I know! :scared1: Remember when one of the girls spilled something on herself and Kate nearly had a apoplectic fit? I think it was ice cream or something. :scared:

The group was waiting for a photo op with somebody (princesses??? MIckey???) and a CM gave the kids chocolate ice cream which caused Kate to flip out because they were going to get messy before their big photo op.

I only watch this show because the kids are so darned cute...and funny, as four year olds often are.

I do not watch for Kate, or her "parenting". This show has turned into one huge commercial from the vacations and amusent parks, to the clothes and food. I feel for Jon, and I honestly don't think he will be with Kate for a long time, you can tell how aggravated he gets when she talks to him like a child. I think she parents Jon more than the kids. But I agree with the other posters, no one can relate to this show anymore, they are basically handed everything on a silver platter.

That's how we pronounce it here too! Among other words that are slaughtered here in RI (and nearby MA)!

YESSS!!!!:scared1: She needs to lighten up!! Who freaks out like that at WDW anyways?:confused3 ;)

The show is fine, it was more interesting before Jon quit his job and they got all their money, but the kids are cute, I don't think Kate is that bad..so what she flips out sometimes, she is a LOT more together than I would be with all those kids.

As for the our/are thing. I pronounce it "are" as well-just a regional thing.

Yup definitely regional - much like the southerners adding extra syllables to words :)

I pronounce it the same way too. :confused3 I guess I didn't realize til now that it wasn't right?

LOL, well looks like there are a whole lot of us saying it wrong, so at least we're in good company here and apparently most of the northeast.;)
Either way sounds fine to me, I'm not picky, I enjoy different accents.

You know its funny, I never thought I had an accent.....but anytime I take a trip out west people always look at me funny & ask where I'm from. Ummm, Pittsburgh :confused3

I never noticed the our/are thing....but I live in the area the Gosselin's live so I probably have the same accent?

I don't mind the show. I am natured very similar to Kate and my DH is a lot like Jon. Trust me people, there are a lot of marriages out there like that (and we only have 1 kid to stress us out!). Bratty or not, their kids are very cute and it amazes me the stuff Kate and Jon pick up about their kids, whether it be personality traits or things they say/do. I sometimes feel like they know their 8 kids better than I know my 1 kid!

I also like to watch the show because since they are from my area they do a lot of stuff locally. I actually use their dentist for my son (LOVE HER!) and we have visited some of the local attractions they have featured on the show. I would never have heard of some of these places without the show!
