... I'm not sure this is the most inspired title for a surfer series, but I've watched episode #1 and we're about to watch # 2...

Very interestin' - 3 generations of surfers (this is HBO btw), two of them crippled by the sport, and one 'em, only 13, about to go pro ... with grandpop suddenly levitating (he thinks it's a brain tumor) and a mysterious guy from Cincinnati (sp???), named John, who rules over all ...

My nearest and dearest colleague is a major world surfer ... so I'm almost hooked ...

I missed last night's episode (hauling horse poop to the garden) -- will probably watch it tonight along with BL.
So far, I've found JFC to be both funny and oddly very spiritual. Won't ruin it for you but watch for an unexpected moment of grace from Butchie's drug dealer.

Oooooh, we're like twins, you and I! :rotfl2:

I liked last night's episode, too, though honestly I was multitasking on the internet, so I'll watch it again, just to make sure I really, really do like it ... :)

OK, I'm still one episode behind, but now that I have three (or is 4?) under my belt, I can say with some certainty that I like it - but it's quirky as hell; I like quirky - lots (heck, I love Dexter, the cuddly serial killer), but this one is odd.

I'll be watching this week's episode tonight after Big Love.

For a while, I thought maybe John was from outer space but now I'm pretty sure he's an angel. The whole "See God, Kai -- See God, Cassie (Is that the bad girl's name?!?!)" thing and many other plot lines... What I like is: how oblivious the other characters are to most of this stuff, most of the time -- filtering it all through their own cracked prisms.

I like it a lot too.

Monday night is fast becoming my favorite night for TV. WOW!

John from Cincy. -- Does Seanie's long-lost mom look like him or what? My only gripe with this show is that sometimes I can't hear/understand the dialog. Rebecca Mornay's character was screaming so much I think I only caught every 4th or 5th word.
----
Big Love -- Well! all I can say is Potential Sister Wife # 4 better watch out! #3 is cute and cuddly but #2 will have her wishing she never left Belgrade, in about five minutes! And Wanda -- what a nasty little piece of business, she is turning out to be!

There is a great board to discuss JFC with other fans of the show. It is called the John From Cincinnati Forums.

You can find it here: johnfromcincinnatifans. You have to enter the "www" and "dot" at the beginning and the "dot" com at the end.
