John Edward the Medium Gallery show--UPDATE: page 2

I have tickets to the John Edward of "Crossing Over"...the guy who talks to dead people ...

It is his "gallery-like" show in Chicago this Saturday!

Has anyone been to his show? Do I need to wear dark colors and such? Any good stories? Were you read?

If it isn't too strange a request, I'd love it if you'd say a prayer that we get a reading. I figure the more requests I have in, the more insistent my relatives might be.

I watched maybe 10 min of Crossing Over one time and he was sure doing a lot of fishing.

No, I'm sorry, but I don't believe in any of his performances. I think he takes advantage of people at a fragile time in their life, but the only thing he's skilled at is parting people from their money.

I've been to his show in CT. There were several hundred people there and only about 10 or so got readings. As he says, those who are meant to get a reading will get one. The rest can hopefully find some meaning in some of the other readings (pay attention and ). I actually got what I wanted to hear from two of the other readings so I was happy. And it was fun just seeing him in person - I went with several groups of friends.

I love watching John and believe what he does is real. If others don't want to believe that's ok. One of his best books IMO is One Last Time. If anyone cares to understand who he is and what he does I suggest you read that book.

I saw him in person. If he is a fake, he is very good at it. I think he is real. I don't see where he takes advantage of people. If you get something good from it, then where is the problem. My brother went to a medium to connect with my father. It was my mother who mostly came forward and she told him only things he would know. There was no way the medium could pick these things out. He felt better after going. Yes, it cost him money but his sense of well being was worth the money to him.

I may or may not believe, but I do think that he generally gives people comfort. In some extended way, it might be another kind of therapy.

It's nothing but "cold reading" and "warm reading" (plants around the audience members pre- and during the show feeding info to the host).

It's a learned skill. And, it's highly unethical, IMHO, to use that skill for anything other than entertainment. He's taking advantage of people that are in an awkward emotional situation.

He plants people around the audience? I thought no one was allowed to talk about who they wanted to contact while they were in there.

I've never been to one of John Edwards shows, but have seen him a few times on TV.
Sure, who am I to judge, I believe it's possible some people may have capabilities to contact the other side.

I don't believe him. He asks too many leading questions. I believe in ghosts but he just seems... fishy.

I do not believe in him, but do belive that others possess the powers he claims to have, just think he is a phoney. I would still go to his show though as pure entertainment. My two SIL's believe in him wholeheartedly.

No, I don't believe. If I did, I would have a hard time trusting John Edwards. He seems too slick to me. Also, he has a one note show...all he ever seems to tell people is their loved one is 'OK'. Sorry, I think he is simply an entertainer, and at the expense of vulnerable people.

UPDATE: I am back from the Saturday show.

I'm not even sure I should update. I don't wish to do anything other than share my experience. You will believe what you choose and that is fine by me!

My family was read by John at this show. I went with my DH's sister (one SIL) and his brother's wife, my other SIL. My MIL and FIL came through, without a doubt in my mind. I went in with a healthy skepticism, but I am not a skeptic now. I do believe people are given the spiritual gift of prophesy, mediumship, etc.. That is in the Good Book folks. I am now sure John Edward does have that gift.

It was a very peaceful feeling afterward. Very calming.

John Edward came through with direct statements such as her exact name -(not "I'm getting a woman with an R name...") No, he said I'm getting someone who was buried with a flag (my FIL) and someone named Rita." "She's a very loud woman." So true, we laugh.

He came through with information NO ONE could have known, information that was very comforting to me. (regarding a miscarriage) Information regarding upcoming events in my family's life involving an exact type of change that is coming. (moving due to DH's work) These haven't been announced yet and are still about 1-2 years away. He also had exact dates, her cause of death, and the names of Rita's children, and the exact nickname Rita used to call my DH. Our responses were "Yes" if we understood and if his info was correct, and "No" if it didn't pertain to us. I have to say I don't think we ever had a no response. Everything that came up was dead on accurate.

Anyway, if you have questions, feel free to pm me. I don't want to debate or convince anyone. It's not my style. You would have to experience it for yourself in order to fully understand. I don't expect someone to believe based on what I'm telling you.

Overall, very interesting guy. Good show, even if you're not into believing that sort of thing. For my experience, I am thankful...so thankful...and so grateful that he can share his gift.

Really interesting. I'm glad you got what you were looking for. I would like to hear more if you feel like posting. Don't worry about the nay sayers. Just tell what happened. Some of us are interested and you surely don't want to type this thing out a million times. I'm like you, I approach it with a healthy dose of skepticism but an open mind. Again, I'm glad youre happy with your results.
