Yeah, I felt the same way when the Republicans wouldn't vote Clinton's judicial nominations out of committee. That darn advise AND consent thing.DawnCt1 said:that is exactly what it was. he couldn't get the bill out of committee for an up or down vote before the senate. that is as plain as day. with rinos like lincoln chaffe, there was more of it to come. so john bolton decided that it wasn't worth it, not the prez. unfortunate for the country.

It appears that under the bush administration, the job of the ambassador to the UN is to alienate our allies.Particularly damaging was a Jul. 23 New York Times article based on interviews with dozens of other countries' U.N. ambassadors. "(M)any diplomats say they see Mr. Bolton as a stand-in for the arrogance of the administration itself," it reported. Instead of furthering his mission of U.N. reform, the report noted, "(e)nvoys say he has in fact endangered that effort by alienating traditional allies."
In the last several months, State Department and White House lawyers considered a number of different ways that Bolton might legally stay on -- such as appointing him to a post that did not require Senate confirmation and then making him "acting ambassador" -- but eventually concluded that such manoeuvres were likely to create more ill will, not just among Democrats, who will take over the Senate next month, but also among Republicans who increasingly see Bush's stubbornness as a major political liability..

DawnCt1 said:neither. it is those who are still agonizing over the 2000 and 2004 election who are polarizing.
Mugg Mann said:Dawn, I must admit that I never cease to be amazed at your ability to perceive reality through a conservative prism that warps every fact regardless of it's origin into a "Bush Good-Liberals Bad" mentality.
After 9/11, every major poll in this country showed that the President had the support of 90% of the country. Since that time, depending on which poll one believes, he has lost anywhere from 50-60% of that support.
How has he managed to lose the support of well over half the country, and how do you not consider that polarizing?
I await your answer. This should be classic......

Now that John Bolton has been kicked to the curb... I mean, decided to step down as UN Ambassador, people have been speculating what his next career move might be (some early suggestions: mustache model, professional backseat driver, Cranky Guy Who Tells Other People How to Raise Their Kids When They're Just at the Mall Minding Their Own Business).
I hear that he's going the more traditional route, seeking a high-profile presence in the media. In fact, my sources tell me that Bolton has a morning meeting (11:30 ET to be precise) in New York with Headline Media Management, a talent management firm that, according to its website "represents anchors, reporters and producers, in news and sports broadcasting, syndication and entertainment, employed by broadcast and cable networks, local stations, producers/syndicators, cable and video-stream internet entities." Along with Meredith Vieira, HMM's site touts the following "Headliner" clients: New CBS Sunday Evening News anchor Russ Mitchell; Local DC anchor Tracey Neale; ESPN college football color analyst Ed Cunningham; and OLN hockey analyst Brian Englblom.
So get ready for it: John Bolton, TV Star. Who knows, maybe he'll want to knock 10 stories off the Time Warner Building or 30 Rock.

Bolton would love the Fox. He was a bad Ambassador and would carry this lack of professionalism to the one place that would appreciate such a quality.Uncle Remus said:So get ready for it: John Bolton, TV Star. Who knows, maybe he'll want to knock 10 stories off the Time Warner Building or 30 Rock.
