I was wondering if anybody knows if there is any type of path at AKL for a jog or walk. If so, any idea how long it is?

Thanks.

I wonder why....I can't think of any other resort that DOESN'T have one.

Remember that the resort is virtually surrounded by a wildlife preserve. It 's just not feasible. I did find it relaxing to walk all the way down the very ong corridors indoors. There are animal viewing areas (windowed areas) every so often and it's really quite pleasant. I got my post dinner walk in that way. True it's not the great outdoors but AKL has so much else to offer I can overlook the lack of a walking trail.
Can't wait to go back in AUgust. Check out the animal viewing at night through the night vision telescope--a real highlight for my DS.

yup, the only resort w/no jogging path, one reason I cant stay there for more than one or two nights!!

Yeah, it's kind of frustrating for runners. DW and I usually end up each week's vist to WDW with a 2 night visit to AKL, but we can't stay there for a week because of this (and the lack of a quiet pool).

Oddly enough my DH and I were just discussing this during our run yesterday...would it be feasible to drive to say CS or BW to run in the a.m. if we have a car? How about just running along the road - or is this frowned upon. This will be the first resort we stay at w/o a trail. I'm not giving AKL up for the week, but I'm willing to drive a few of the mornings so I can take my run if I need to.

One of the gaurds at the gaurd booth told us not to. There is enough traffic combined with not enough pedestrians to make for a dangerous situation I guess. The first time we stayed here, we moved resorts mid-week for this plus a variety of other reasons (no mater what anyone says, when this resort first opened, they did not have their act together as far as the transportation is concerned). If you are acustomed to driving to a park or some other place for your run, then you will not find it a big hassle at all to drive to another resort for a run; this is especially true if you valet park.

You can not run on the road, in fact from what I hear security will pick you up if they find you there. When we stayed last year we went to the all-star or Con. Springs most days, it wasn't to big a hassle.

The other option is to run around the parking lot. There were 2 or 3 morning when I actually saw 2 or 3 other people doing the same. One warning, it's boring as anything and you'll have to do a few laps to get any type of distance. If I remember correctly it's about a 6 min loop or 3/4 a mile if you go along the entire outside of the lot

We just returned from an extended vacation. My DH ran every day at AKL. He just ran on the roads towards AK. He was not stopped or questioned by anyone. Also traffic was not that bad. He ran at about 7am everyday.

Your DH got lucky. Had security seen him they would have picked him up. I know this for fact, my DH was stopped by Mickey cops and ordreed into their security van and deposited back into the AKL parking lot.

We were there 10 days ago and were told the same thing. No jogging path since the resort is surrounded by savannah and animals. And please do not run on the roadways. We ran around CS when we stayed there a few days earlier. We ran from the Doubletree Guest Suites to Cirque when we stayed there right before AKL. And we ran from Epcot to Disney Studios when we moved over to the BCVs. But for three days, no running.

We used the gym at AKL I don't much care for running on treadmills, but if that is all you can do better do that then not run at all. I did not mind the treadmill at AKL it was pretty nice and easy to use. I did enjoy it when we stayed at WL and ran the path from WL to FW. It is a nice peaceful run.. I had a little bunny greet me every morning. It was awesome.

We were able to transfer our gym pass from AKL to WL during our 14 night stay. We stayed for 7 nights each place. They just had us show or AKL pass to the WL host at the gym and he signed the back of our WL pass. not bad for $45. That was for the length of stay family gym pass. Family is for upto four people. I couldn't complain about that at all.

Don't know if anyone wanted that info or not.
