I have heard that you cannot bring jogger strollers from home into the park, but at xmas time I did see some home brought jogger strollers at the park.

Anyone know what the deal is?

Any input would be great!!!

Thanks! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Just returned from WDW & I saw several jogger strollers at MGM. They looked just like the ones they rent but different colors. I don't recall any at MK. I guess they weren't rentals, I assume they only have the one color. Hope this helps.

We used our double jogging stroller the first week of March, no one batted an eye. We used it with no trouble in Dec. as well. I don't know if they would say anything in crowds though, with low crowds we still took it slow with a stroller that big. A lifesaver at Epcot, HTH's

Dont do it! unless your jogger has a pivotting front wheel, that is.

heres the thing, aside from the bulk........people walk through the parks inconsistantly. they will stop short. they will make a quick turn. they will walk slower than a snail. you need to be able to dart around people pretty easily. Because you know those same walkers will be on this board the next day making all kinds of noise about the inconsiderate parents with stroller who ran over the ankles and feet.

get yourself a cheap-ish stroller that reclines, has a big basket and cup holders.

Stacy...

My kids are too big to go in a Graco double stoller..The jogger is much easier to push with the 2 of them.

As for the people complaining about the strollers.. Disney World is for kids too!

The kind you push are ok, but any "trailer-style" strollers are strictly off-limits. (the kind with the hook that sticks out on the front.) That's not the only kind that aren't allowed, but if your stroller falls into the restricted category, WDW will hold it for you and let you borrow one of our rental strollers for the day. No worries, but be prepared for that possibility.

Disney World is for everyone to enjoy. I have been through the stages of navigating a stroller through the masses (my youngest is 10). On our last trip-- I was bumped into by 8 strollers, only one person apologized. Some of those strollers are just too big to navigate Disney with. Not to mention how heavy they can be for the parents struggling to get them on the parking tram or monorail. Once my son was beyond the "infant" stage, he had to ride in the lightweight umbrella stroller (with sunroof). It was easy to handle, easy to carry, quick to fold, ect. Also, it wasn't so cumbersome that it made it hard to get through a crowd. I always try to let people with strollers have the right away, I'll step to the other side of the road. However, after doing this for a week straight and constantly getting hit in the ankles or legs with no apology, it gets tiresome. Afterall, Disney is for adults too.

As I already stated my daughter is too big for one of those kind of umbrella strollers.

I did not post this thread to hear stories about strollers as I too have been hit by many in the ankles. As for people not saying sorry to you, what can I say? I was not one of them. I cannot explain other's rude behavior.

I just wanted to know if jogger strollers are permitted. That's all.

Simba,

If your kids are that big, then I suggest renting strollers when you need them. I really really think you'll be fustrated by the inability to make quick small turns. Some of the parks rentals are like joggers but with pivotting wheels. PLus with the rentals, you wont have to deal with "travelling" with it on trains and busses and stuff.

I certainly didnt mean tos tart the ankle debate. I just find people to be totally clueless about whats going on behind them, so they stop short and make irratic turns which make it sometimes difficult to navigate through with a stroller that does turn easily.

Simba,

What I liked about having my own jogger, was that my kids could go on sleeping as we walked out of the park. I don't know how busy it will be when you go, but we were able to roll right onto the monorail without folding down during the first week of Dec. and the first week of March. We were staying at the CR and would walk most of the time, the jogger allowed this. My DS weighs about 50 and my DD nearly 30. Both were able to nap in our jogger, I don't think they would have been as comfortable in a rental. Our jogger has a good size basket underneath, for water bottles, ponchos, changes of clothes. I took along a see through shower curtain to use as a rain cover (under $2) worked great. We had our children sleeping in the jogger on our way out of Fantasmic. Very crowded but you just move at the speed of traffic and you will be fine. No ankles bitten, even in that mob. The trouble is if you want to pass people and go faster than foot traffic. We walked over to Osborne lights and walked all through those (this was in Dec.) This highlight of our trip would not have been possible had we to carry both sleeping/y children. Best wishes on making a choice that works for your family :D

Safari Steve... Ididn't notice you up there earlier. Thanks for the heads up!:)

Stacy.. My original plan was to rent the strollers but I had 2 concerns 1- I will be in the world for 10 days that's $150 in strollers. 2- I will be there at Eater time and I would imagine strollers would be sold out in the afternoon. I hear your points though & this seems to be a tough debate for me.

Strawbeeryblone.. Your reasons for bringing the jogger are exactly why I wanted to bring one.. thnaks for the honest response and for understanding my predicament.

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

We saw at least 10 of them yesterday. If you tilt them back slightly to bring the front wheel off the ground you can turn them on a dime.

Besides :jester:
I would much rather get run over by a jogger type stroller with the big soft tires than one of the ones with the hard plastic front and small wheels.
LOL :jester:

We saw plenty of private jogging strollers in the parks in October. I wouldn't worry about it.

Aaagh, I am having a guilt attack!

As one who has used Disney's strollers and my own and has probably, though not consciously, bumped a few ankles (I hope no more), I feel I owe and apology to the Kilee's out there. Oddly enough, I don't remember ever being bumped myself (though as a sufferer of claustrophobia, I tend to walk a good distance away from others).

Please remember that usually thoughtlessness, excitment, and exhaustion are the real motivations behind the "bump and run" stuff (at least, for the most part---some people ARE just rude). I'm sure many of the stroller pushers aren't aware of the pain they cause or would be embarassed by their own rudeness if they knew or thought about it (maybe all those crowds just do something to people's sensitivity?).

At any rate, I too am in the "rent a stroller or bring a stroller" predicament right now. My child is also too big for a small stroller, as she is 6 1/2 and has always been quite tall/big for her age. She does get tired though at the end of a long day and it would be sooooo nice to have our own stroller there to plop her in!

And being one that is always pushing a stroller I need to add my 2 cents. I get sick and tired of people stopping dead in their tracks to talk, gawk, or rest. Get out of the way! These people just clog the thruway and create a traffic jam and it really tics me off. It's no wonder I haven't broken a few ankles from these morons stopping in front of me. So for all you guilty ones, and you know who you are :) , please move out of the way before stopping or you might be dealing with a sore achilles through no fault but your own. There, I feel better! LOL!:Pinkbounc

feel guilt no more. the collissions are usually as much the fault of the bumpee as the bumper.

Actually my favorite is when the person stops dead center middle of traffic to read a map UGH!

If they stop to read a map just ram 'em in the ankles!

:teeth:

I try to be very considerate of the people around me when I'm pushing a stroller, but many times they aren't watching where they're are going! I'm not talking about hitting someone who stops short, but rather the people who are walking diagonally across traffic, their eyes fixed on something way over there! I've stopped and waited, watched while they walk right into us, because they just weren't looking. This happens at the mall too. And it's not related to crowds.

The maximum weight limit for the Graco and umbrella strollers is pretty low. You can't go wrong with the jogger with bigger kids. I saw plenty of people bringing their own in December. The ones you rent in the parks are nice also, if you don't want to struggle with your own.
