About a year ago I read, "My Sister's Keeper" and thoroughly enjoyed the book.. Loved the surprise twist at the end..

On my way to Florida a couple of weeks ago, I picked up another one of her books in the book store at the airport - "The Pact".. Absolutely loved it!

So - as my "Christmas gifts from Heaven" (aka my late DH) I went on Amazon.com last night and purchased 5 more of her books (used).. Can't wait to receive them!

I got:

"Vanishing Acts"

"Mercy"

"Plain Truth"

"Salem Falls"

"Perfect Match"

Don't give away any secrets - just tell me - am I going to be equally impressed? Sure hope so! :goodvibes

I think you will. I've read all of those except maybe one, and they were all good. There's always a twist, which is one of the things I love about her books. Hope you like them & happy reading!

I have read both the ones you read along with 19 minutes, which is also very, very good. She is a great writer but I find I need to read other books in between hers as hers are very impactful. Enjoy!!!

I'm hoping I can snag "19 Minutes" when I fly back to Florida sometime in January or February.. At the bookstore in the Albany airport you can purchase brand new books, return them after you have read them, and receive half of the purchase price back! So - I'll return "The Pact" and keep my fingers crossed that they have "19 Minutes"..;)

I am a Piccoult junkie!!!!!!!!!

"Vanishing Acts"- I haven't read that one yet. ***edited to add: I told a lie. I have read that one, just forgot. It wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't bad either***

"Mercy"- LOVED IT

"Plain Truth"- LOVED IT

"Salem Falls"- reading right now, good so far

"Perfect Match"- LOVED IT

Can you tell I'm a fan? :)

I'm so glad I "discovered" her books - thanks to someone here on the DIS.. Once I find an author I like, I simply must read all of their books..:goodvibes

I agree. Deep thoughts going on with her books.

I think of the ones you listed Salem Falls, Plain Truth and Perfect Match are my favs. I didn't like The Pact, myself. It was too intense for me I think.

Did she also write the one about the 10yo with a stigmata? Her hands bled...I am trying to remember the title but am drawing a blank.

Totally OT, but C.Ann, how is your car/van? Did you ever get that resolved?

I wasn't a fan of The Pact. Liked Plain Truth. LOVED the sister one.

It depends on what you mean by "resolved" - LOL.. Every time I got it back, I found they had damaged or wrecked something new while taking care of the issue that it was there for.. From mid-June to just after Labor Day or so I had the van in my possession (as opposed to it being at the dealership) "maybe" 3 weeks (and I'm not talking consecutive weeks)..

The last time it was there - for the non-working windshield wipers - I specifically told them in no uncertain terms that I wanted them to run the VIN# for any recalls (I had heard via the grapevine about a few) and take care of the issues while the van was still there.. They said they would - long story short, they didn't.. As soon as I got it back (I think it was the same day, if I recall correctly) they called to tell me they "forgot" to run the VIN (after telling my son-in-law that they did when he went to pick it up) and there was a recall on the driver's side air bag.. "Would I mind bringing it back in??" Can't really type out exactly what I told them on these boards, but it was basically, "I would rather go flying through the "flipping" windshield than ever bring that van back to you idiots.." - and I hung up on them..

There's a Chrysler dealership 5 minutes away from my DD's house (where I am now) and that is where all warranty issues are currently being dealt with..

The van will never be the same.. Every now and then you can still smell a bit of a musty odor (and I'm constantly checking for water and won't even use the "stow" features now), but the financial hit of getting rid of it would be too big right now so I'll keep it awhile longer and see how things go.. Did get a few "new" parts out of the deal (when they broke the original parts), but I never should have had to go through all of these hassles with a practically brand new car.. Live and learn - I will never, ever purchase another Chrysler/Dodge vehicle again..:sad2:

I really loved My Sister's Keeper but I just didn't like 19 Minutes all that much. I didn't even finish the book which is a rarity for me. I am going to try a few of her others though.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Her books. My book club always goes to see her when she's in town for a signing.

I couldn't bring myself to read "The Pact" either. I had a daughter in high school at the time and it just hit too close to home.

I started reading her books with "Plain Truth." I've always enjoyed books about the Amish, and this one caught my eye in a bookstore. It's still my favorite. "Keeping Faith" and "My Sister's Keeper" are close seconds!

I'm another Jodi fan. So far I've read:

The Tenth Circle
Vanishing Acts
My Sister's Keeper
Perfect Match
Salem Falls
Plain Truth
: The first time I picked this up, I read a few pages and thought I wouldn't like it. I put it away for a while and started it over a few months later. This turned out to be one of my favorites. :)
The Pact
Harvesting the Heart: I really didn't like this one and I didn't end up finishing it. I'll pick it up again sometime and try again.

Picture Perfect: I'm reading this one now. I will be able to finish it starting next week when my Christmas vacation begins :cool1:

Love, loved, loved "My Sister's Keeper" - hit close to home for me; but still found it a good read. Also loved "The Pact" - the first Picoult book I ever read.(BTW - Lifetime made a movie of this book - AWFUL!) Hated "Vanishing Acts" though. There was another one - about a dad seeking revenge for his daughter that was raped - didn't like that one either. Both books took sidetrips that were not very interestind. Her last one "19 Minutes" I though was very good.:thumbsup2

Plain Truth was also made into a movie....it was ok, nothing great.

Loved Plain Truth, what a great book:)

I have heard a lot about My Sister's Keeper but haven't read it yet. Recently finished Plain Truth and found it an easy read and pretty good. My one daughter asked for The Pact for Christmas on a friend's recommendation, and my other daughter is getting another Picoult book (but I can't remember which one I picked up!)

C.Ann, if you have a BJ's or something similar near you, her books are fairly inexpensive and they always have a lot of them.

I stumbled on The Pact a couple years ago and couldn't put it down. I've read many of her books and I loved 19 Minutes. There was one that I didn't like but the title escapes me........
