Job interview - Please wish me luck!!

I am having my first job interview in 19 years tomorrow, please send me your wishes and good luck.

I am being made redundant in October from the only job I've had since leaving school in 1986 so am feeling anxious at the moment.....

Any advice also would be appreciated.

All the very best for the interview! Just remember dont fidget, make eye contact and be yourself!! Oh, and if all else fails, picture the interviewer naked - always relaxes me (they dont seem so intimidating that way!)

Good luck - I have always found that if I feel like i'm better than the job, and that they'd be really lucky to get me (almost as if I'm picking them, rather than the other way round) often helps! Be ultra confident and think that the job is yours!!! Picture them all in Mickey Mouse Ears!!!!!

I'll be alright if the interview is held in the loo, as I seem to have been spending the last couple of days sat in there!!

I've been reading up about the company I'm visiting but it's difficult to come across as natural and not looking like I've recited everything parrot fashion.

I would imagine they would be impressed that someone had done their research. Besides the fact that you've spent 18 years at one job has got to show some terrific committment!!!! Good luck (what is the interview for?)

I'm a warehouse manager, but my boss is retiring. I was all for waiting for a few weeks to take some time out, but this job is for the same position and has come up in one of the biggest logistics companies in Europe.

I have printed reams of info about the company and have been reading it through all week in any spare time I have.

My boss has told me that the biggest advantage I have is 19 years experience with one employer - a new employer won't be wprried about them spending money to train you up then leaving after 6 months.

They will be pleased you have done this.

I always imagine the sort of questions I might be asked and have some specific examples of when I have acheived things to quote in the appropriate place. For example, "when I have motivated someone to get a job done"; "Dealing with a difficult situation - how did I handle it, what was the outcome and what would I have done differently?" etc etc

Depending on the type of job you are going for, would it be appropriate to take some examplkes of wotk you have done so they can see your capability?

But most important of all - eye contact. Be confident (but no cocky, LOL)

Miffy's advice is really good! Personal examples are a great way of demonstrating your competence!

I think that your experience will count for loads you know!!! If it's the same job and you've done it for so long, it sounds like you'll be great!!

If it's any help at all - sometimes it might just come down to whether your face fits or not - and you can't do anything to change or prepare for that!

I also firmly believe that you have to want the job to do well (if you don't want it, it shows through at the interview...)

I'm an employer and I agree with your boss experience and conmmitment are the 2 most important things on any employers list

The only advice I can give is don't try and be something you're not, they can see through that straight away - be yourself - you'll be able to maintain that! Good luck for the interview.
