JoAnne's discontinuing scrapbook stuff?

Just saw a reference to JoAnne's in another thread and it reminded I wanted to ask this question!

I stopped in to my local JoAnne's last night (sewing related - working on another show) and ALL of their scrapbook stuff was on clearance!

I was in such a rush I didn't ask if they were discontinuing or just what. Anyone heard?

I can't imagine that's the case. Maybe they're just clearing out space for new stuff. HIA is this week so maybe they want to make sure they have plenty of room new products that are coming out. Just a thought.

I always thought it was weird when you all talked about Joann's and going there to buy supplies. At our Joann's store they have one tiny, tiny aisle of scrapbook stuff. It must not be longer than 8 feet. It is really small. So, in my eyes they never really carried any supplies. Also, our target has scrapbook supples probably about 3 feet of space and the stuff is always on clearance. Maybe it is a new marketing strategy.

Our JoAnne's never had a huge supply and it may be that they have just decided they can't compete in this particular market.

Yep rvoto - it was everything. I'm going to try to pop back in Friday when I have a little more time to leaf through all of the papers.

Oh, one other thing. Last night I pulled out the flyer stuffed in my bag when I was there Tuesday. There were coupons for next week and there were two that may be of particular interest to some of the scrappers.

Xyron coupon for 40 or 50% off and any Ott-Lite 50% off.

Of course I bought my Ott-Lite last year when it WASN'T on sale...but it is wonderful. It has made for a lot less eye strain, especially when working at night or when light is low (like all winter around here....)

I was at Jo-Ann's on Monday, and they had actually re-stocked...though not the album I went there to buy!

They have several new products. New Jo-Ann's only albums.

Of course, you never know with them. Why would they want to sell scrapbooking supplies in a fabric/craft store, when they can sell all those imports and candy?

I will have to check the one in Salem NH and see what the deal is. I have a bunch of coupons for 50% one item.......

I was just at JoAnns yesterday. It's disappointing to me to see that they have nothing really new. Everything is pretty much the same as it was 18 months ago. Even the paper is exactly the same.

I did see a new Ariel 12x5 sticker, but they wanted $2.99 for it, when online scrapbook stores only charge around $1.79. That was the only Disney related product I saw.

When I first started scrapbooking in 1996 I got my first Hot Off The Press paper books at JoAnns. That was the only place to get supplies in my area until a few years later when our scrapbook store opened.

I was so disappointed yesterday, though.

my local JoAnn ETC just MOVED thier scrapping section, so it was closer to middle of the store.

Well I stopped in Friday and the manager told me they had put everything they had in stock on clearance but right after that received a few new albums.

She did say that it appears some stores will be discontinuing scrap stuff as they can't compete with LSS and Hobby Lobby/Michaels type stores.

Personally I'd prefer to see JoAnne's focus on the textile crafts and let others do the scrap, etc.

i was just at my JoAnns' today, which is a JoAnn's Etc, maybe that is part of this equation??

They are clearancing out some, but not alot scrapping stuff. But they had moved it to a better location too. I think they had a better selection of Sizzix but I just glanced through.

Just to confuse the issue...... I had just 15 minutes to kill yesterday so I popped into a Joanne's that was nearby (haven't been there in MONTHS) and I was thrilled with the scrapbooking stuff they had. Not the quantity so much, but they had some really different interesting stuff. I'm getting REALLY tired of looking at the same stuff over and over at Michaels!! Nothing was on clearance..................P

I went to Joann's and they only had a few things on clearance but all of the Zyron machines were 39$...on clearance...paper and other stuff was not...
