Joanne and Paul's VR - 4th May 2011

Congratulations Joanne & Paul, you looked so beautiful! I am so happy we were able to chat yesterday, wish we had more time. How truly magical was that moment when we looked across that GF lobby. I still can't stop smiling from our brief chat, I knew in my heart I would see you somehow but never thought the timing could be so perfect. My daughter's wedding turned out perfect, and we could not be happier. I can't wait to see your pictures.
:love::hug:
Mary
we leave Friday night so no stalking any other weddings, please tell James & Jeffrey Congrats for me.

So we fly out to Orlando on Sunday 1st May. Some of us will be going from the north of England from Manchester airport and some from the south from Gatwick airport. My daughter and her partner are flying out on the previous Friday and are having a couple of days on their own before we arrive.
We land at approx 15.10 Orlando time and the Gatwick party land a couple of hours later at about 17.15.
I have banked and borrowed my DVC points and have managed to pay for everybody's first 5 nights accommodation with my accumulated points. Most of us are staying at BLT but the Gatwick party (three friends and their three children) are staying in two studios in Kidani Village as they felt the children would prefer it.
Magical Express is arranged for transfers to WDW and as we land first, we are going to go ahead and get checked in at BLT and the Gatwick party will follow later. Nobody could see the point in our party hanging around the airport for two hours waiting for them.
I intend to get the BLT lot checked in and settled, and then my daughter and I will get the bus over from MK to Kidani to meet the other party when they arrive and help them check in.
I am fortunate that I only have five family groups attending, so I am splashing out a bit on welcome bags. I have had them printed with our logo which will appear on all our stationary, invites etc. I intend to hand the bags out myself, first to the BLT group and then to the Kidani group when I go across to meet them and help them check in.
Here is a picture of our welcome bags (they have the log printed on both sides and the little circle in the middle of Mickey and Minnie is a round sparkly crystal)

Here is an example of the hanging tags which will be attached to each bag

I designed the logo to reflect the fact that our VR is at Disney and also at the Swan. Our theme is sort of Mickey meets Swan!!!!

Here is a better picture of our logo

Next post, I will bore you all with the contents of the welcome bags!!! I can hear you all yawning already!!:rolleyes2

I LOVE LOVE LOVE those welcome bags!!! How super cute are they?! I envision something similar for mine and it's nice to see one that's done. Might I ask where you got the bags? I've been trying to price things out, and find the best deals. Thanks! :goodvibes

I am so excited to hear how everything is going. I know your VR was magical. I hope you are having a fabulous trip and look forward to hearing all about it.

I hope you're having the most wonderful/magical time! I can't believe I missed saying Happy VR Day, but I did think of you on the 4th. :) I hope everything turned out as you hoped, I can't wait to read all about it. :goodvibes

I'm going crazy in anticipation to hear all about everything!! I hope everything was truly magical and that you are having an amazing time!! Just wanted to drop by and let you know I was thinking about you!

My gorgeous Disfriends!!!
I am back :sad1: and I have to report that we had the most MAGICAL day of our lives!!!! The day was perfect. Karen and her team really came through and bent over backwards to make our day special. The West courtyard was far prettier than I ever imagined and the weather was glorious!!!
Before I go any further, I need to thank and send my love to three special people:-
My sweet Crissy (smileycrissy) - I am so touched that you made the effort to come to our ceremony!!! You are the kindest person and the fact that you made so much effort to be there was so touching!!! Thank you to you and your gorgeous and special man for returning on Tuesday to accompany me to James and Jeff's ceremony and DP. Didn't we have a blast? We must keep in touch and I will make my best efforts to be with you on your special day!!
Thank you so much for the gift and for all the rides you kindly gave me. Love you!!!
Sweet Mary (Disneemama) - Thank you so much for your post and your PM. It truely was a magical moment when we met in the GF lobby. It is always a special moment when you finally meet somebody with whom you have been chatting and planning for so long!! Thanks for the compliments, and I must say that you were the most glamorous of Mothers of the Bride. Your daughter and her girls looked stunning and I am so happy things went well and you had a fabulous day. Paul thanks you for saying he is handsome (obviously I think so!!) and regrets that he didn't get a chance to meet you too!!! We must keep in touch.
James and Jeff (GroomMickey) - I have to say first off that you guys are at the centre of an amazing family!!! The boys are just too cute and Boo is such a little princess!! Thank you both so much for welcoming us so warmly to your ceremony and DP!! You really are special people and deserve a lifetime of happiness with your family. I really enjoyed meeting you all and want to thank you for the Welcome bag. It was lovely!!! Crissy took the cookie cutter, which I am sure she is enjoying. Thanks again. It was an honour to be a small part of your beautiful day!!!

Welcome old friends and new to my trip report. As I said we have had the most magical time and it is extremely hard sitting here typing, knowing it is all over!!! We have, however, made very precious memories and, I will try my best to recall them all for you. I have no photos as yet but will attempt to make a start with.......

Glad I did/Wish I hadn't

Firstly, I am so glad that I was blessed enough to have the joy of re-newing my vows to my gorgeous and special husband!! When we were repeating our vows to one-another, it seemed like we were the only two people there, and it will be a precious memory carried in my heart forever!! I am so happy we were able to have our close family and friends there with us, and were humbled at the effort they all made to make our day and, indeed, our whole trip, so very special.

Secondly, I am SO glad I chose to run with a S/D VR. As I said previously (and on many other occasions), Karen is an absolute angel!!! She was always ready during my planning to answer my questions and quiet my fears!! I never had any communication problems with Karen and she was very prompt at answering e-mails. On the day she was efficiant and professional, but also very friendly and approachable. Due to her hard work, the day seemed to proceed effortlessly. I would highly recommend a S/D wedding!!!

Next, and rather unusually on the boards, I am really glad I put all the effort into producing the Welcome bags. I only had a small number of guests and only gave one bag per family, so it was much easier for me than it would be for a bride with a large guest list. All my guests really appreciated the bags and used a good number of the things therein.

I am also really glad I had my girlie afternoon tea at the Garden View Tearoom. It was so beautiful in there, and the servers were so attentive!! They were very impressed that we were all dressed up in our pretty dresses and facinators/hats. The tea was delicious, and far more filling than you would expect. All my girls really enjoyed it and it was a fun but elegant way to start the festivities!! The girls really enjoyed their favour packs too!!
Paul assures me that the boys had a blast too. They had a lovely lunch at the Dolphin Fountain, played mini-golf at Fantasia Gardens, and finished with a beer or two at the ESPN bar at the Boardwalk

I am very very happy I chose to do a TTD session rather than a in-park portrait session. Our TTD with Randy was one of my favourite parts of our celebration!!! It really was so much fun and I think the photos will be a refreshing contrast to the more formal VR shots!!! To any bride considering such a shoot, I say, GO FOR IT. It is the most fun you can have in a wedding dress. You will love it!!

I was really glad that I chose Citrico's for our reception meal - it was perfect. But more about that in the vendor reviews!!

Next, and again, rather unusually, I am glad I didn't have a DP. Those of you who have been kind enough to follow my ramblings up to now, will know that I deliberated long and hard about a Sago Cay DP. In the end, we were so full from our sumptuous Citrico's dinner, that it would have been a complete waste of money!! We were, actually, fortunate enough to arrange access for our whole party to the Top of The World Lounge at BLT (where we were staying) and so we watched the fireworks, complete with piped in music and drinks, from there. A truly magical end to the day!!

I am glad I chose an afternoon ceremony. I had a wonderfully relaxed day, did not have to get up at some crazy time for hair and make-up (Patricia came at 10.00am) and the events flowed very smoothly from one to the next. Perfect!!!

I am glad we used the DDP on this trip!! I have never done it before and would highly recommend it. We ate really well, and there is something so nice about getting up from the table after a great meal and not having to hand over the cash. I am sure we saved money too!!!

Lastly, (I think!!), I am glad Paul and I did a 'first look'. I had decided that, although we were already married, I didn't want him to see me after I started getting ready until I was all done!!! Our first look, out by the fountain at BLT, was a very emotional moment for us both and gave us a chance to reflect on what was about to happen.

Wish I didn'ts are far far more difficult!!!! I have no regrets about the day at all!!! I guess I wish I hadn't stressed about the weather so much (eg. obsessively checking the forcast several times a day), as it was lovely and sunny. Oh well, you guys did tell me not to stress and you were right!!!

Next up - Vendor reviews

Joanne, welcome home!! :goodvibes I am so glad to hear that your day was as special as you'd hoped it would be. Just reading what you have down so far is making me smile and so happy for you! I'm sorry to hear that you're having a bit of post-VR let-down, but of course that's only natural! Hopefully as you relive the day by sharing with us, you will settle into a nice, permanent "afterglow" of the occasion with no sadness at all! :goodvibes

I also have to say that I love the idea of a "first look" at the BLT fountain. It hadn't even occurred to me to do that with Jeff, but hearing you describe yours makes me want to do it!

I'm dying to hear more ... and of course can hardly wait to see your photos once you have them!!

I'm so happy to hear that it was everything you had hoped for! I look forward to hearing more reviews and seeing your pictures when they come in. I have Randy on my FB and I can't wait to see the previews he posts, I'm sure you looked stunning in your beautiful dress. I'm so happy for you, you have been such a sweetheart helping all of us other S/D brides by sharing helpful info, you really deserved your own magical day!

I'm so glad to hear your VR was wonderful and I can't wait to read vendor reviews. We were glad we didn't have a DP either after our Citricos reception! :goodvibes

Aw Joanne, you are the sweetest! I am so grateful to have met you and yes I do plan on keeping in touch with you. Hmm... do I dare start a PJ now that I have only ideas of what I want to do so that we can at least still chat on here until I've finally picked a date? ;)

I am glad you are back home safely.

Send my love to the family!:hug:

WELCOME back:thumbsup2

Im so glad you are happy with all your choices

Cant wait to see pictures and read more:banana:

Thanks girls!!

Amy sweetie - Thank you!! I tell you what sweetie, you look forward with everything you've got to your special day because it will be the best day of your lives!!! Our's truly was!!! To repeat my vows to my gorgeous husband, in the glorious sunshine and in our most favourite place in the world was the most amazing experience I have ever had.
Yes, we are feeling a bit down now, but we always do after we return from WDW!!! We are still on cloud nine following the actual day. The antidote is to start planning another trip, so we are starting to plan my 50th which we will celebrate (along with my two BFs - who were at our VR) in June 2013. The intention at the moment is to have three days in NY, fly to WDW for 9 and have 4 days winding down at Vero Beach. We are going to call it our 'Nifty Fifty Fiesta' and intend to have Randy do a portrait session whilst there to mark the occasion!!! I always feel so much better when I have planning to do!!! 2013 seems soooo far away, but I will probably fit in a brief visit to Paris in the meantime, for a Disney fix. I haven't been to DLRP for about five years and feel a trip is overdue!!
You should definately plan a 'first look' - it was one of my favourite parts of the day!!!

Jillian sweetie - Thanks so much for your lovely comments!!! If I have been any help to brides, I am truly honoured!! I intend to stick around on the wedding boards and try to be as much help in the future as I possibly can!!
Randy said he would post 'sneek-peeks' as soon as he could, and he seems to have got as far as 3rd May, so perhaps we are next!!!! :yay:

Sweet Kristi - Thank you, we had the most perfect day ever!!

Wendy sweetie - Thank you. It was all because of your beautiful wedding that we chose Citricos in the first place and we are so grateful to you!!! Citricos was all we hoped it would be!! We were treated like royalty and the food was some of the best I have ever had!!!

My sweet Crissy - Have sent you a PM hun!!! All the family say hi and thought you were the sweetest thing!!! Paul says that you and Andre should come visit as soon as you like!!

Racey - Thanks sweetie. It really was a fabulous day!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE those welcome bags!!! How super cute are they?! I envision something similar for mine and it's nice to see one that's done. Might I ask where you got the bags? I've been trying to price things out, and find the best deals. Thanks! :goodvibes
FlamingoAllie - I am so sorry but I just realized that I failed to respond to your post!!! How rude of me!!!! I am sorry!!!
I designed the logo for the bags myself and had them printed out at Vistaprint. I was very happy with the way they tuned out and they were the perfect size for all our little welcome gifts!!! My guests loved them!! I am sorry but I cannot remember how much they were as they were done several months ago!!! Good luck with all your planning!!!

Thanks girls!!

Sounds like you had the most wonderful time Joanne. Thank you for the glad you dids and I can't wait to read more and see some lovely pics. I bet 2013 will come around quicker than you think, plus the trip to DLRP is a great idea to tide you over.

Welcome home!! Sounds like you had the most amazing time Joanne... please do a trip report about it all & go back on Inside Disney Weddings podcast with Carrie to talk all about it!! :rolleyes1

Emma princess: x

Welcome back Joanne, sounds like you had an awesome trip. We only stayed 5 days so already booked a trip in August since we really didn't have time to go to any parks. I will be staying on the boards and we will definitely stay in touch. You are a wonderful sweet, caring, young lady, who has a lot of fans on here. I love reading all the plans and trip reports and I do have another Daughter. I am still trying to figure out how to post some pics. I saw your family picture on the Rev Timothy Herrings FB site, you all looked gorgeous. :cloud9:
