Has anyone ever done the Wine and Dine 1/2 and Jingle Jungle on the same day? Or any 5K and 1/2 same day for that matter?

I am fairly new to running, but I have been active all my life and own and direct my own dance studio, so I am up for the challenge; but I would love to hear from any dis'ers out there who have done both races. How did you feel? Did you walk the 5K in the am and then save your energy for your PM 1/2? Was the day after a total disaster lol! I am pretty good about listening to my body and resting and icing as needed (years of dance training taught me that one lol!)

I signed up for the JJ5K but now after training a bit am considering using Jeff Galloway's Run/Walk for the 1/2... would love some advice:goodvibes
Thanks!!

In 2012 I did 5K with DGD and then she did the Mickey mile at kid's races, then I did the W and D that night. I had planned to nap in the afternoon but that never happened. Somehow survived and finished, still managed to do parks the next day!

Crazy, but doing it all again this year!

I think it depends on your regular mileage. I do 4 miles on a regular basis so I would try this double. I would make sure though to take a pool day (or just a relaxing day) in between to let the legs feel their best for the half.

I have done the Wine & Dine ½ and the 5K associated with it the past three years and intend to do it again this year. It makes for a long day, but I think it's worth it. I usually take it much easier during the 5K and kinda relax during the day (not necessarily napping) before getting ready for the ½ at night.

Thanks, you guys are really inspiring me:thumbsup2 I think I am going to train for the 1/2 and (since I already paid and registered for the 5K) attempt the 5K maybe at a more leisurely pace. I'm really not trying for a certain time, I just want to finish upright and enjoy something I never though I would be able to do. As a newer runner and with 7 months to train I think it sounds possible as long as I listen to my body during each run.

Plus, this is a great reason to schedule a massage at the GF the next day:yay:
