Great job Jim!!! Huge congratulations!!!!

I was also amazed at homw much firndlier peole were at Tri's. Very cool. Funny, teh are exhauting day of, bu the muscles recover better fo me the next day than a half marathon. Glad you are looking ot do more!

Chicago next summer??:)

Whoa! Hold the boat! Carrie?!?!?! When did you do a tri or is it coming up? When I saw that bike photo last month I figured you were looking at doing a Tri but didn't know you had one coming up. So what's the scoop?!?!? How exciting!!!!! Please tell me this isn't the next step up from the Marathon. Is this what our futures hold? (ok I AM interested in the DL ladies Tri. Feel a bit safer in the CA Adv pond I guess LOL just the cost will keep me from it)

GO TRI-TEAM MATES GO!!! We are getting quite a few and it's very very exciting to see you all doing it!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

lol DIane. I'll PM you to keep from side tracking Jim's thread, but yes. I have now done two.

yes, it seems liek the next challenge after a full. Got to admit, it's great fr summer trianing. (I think I ilike tri's mroe than halfs now. :upsidedow )

Congratulations! And I loved the title... It seems like every race during the last mile that exact thought goes through my mind.

Was the swim in Bay Lake?

Yes. I didn't worry about the Monsters From the Deep though. I figured all of the competitors younger than I were a lot more tender and tasty than I.........

Chicago next summer??

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Ya' know, I DO have family up there.......................

John here,

Triathletes are REALLY-REALLY fit....and your one of em. :thumbsup2

I did the race as well and while it wasn't my best showing, a quick check of the elite times and the heads of the age groupers and it seems everyone had a tough day.

I was in the last wave of the day, so I got the "hurry up and finish you guys" nudge....according to a buddy of mine in one of the rescue boats our wave split in two at the first buoy and half of us went woefully off course. I managed to suffer through that swim as did a lot of folks and I think it would have just been an accomplishment to just do that leg.

My bike was similar to yours and I didn't get passed but I have to say the "no passing zones" were a strange novelty to me. I actually used them to fuel and stretch as I inevitably got caught behind somone at each location. I actually looked forward to the next one.....

My run was a study in pain and bodily involuntary, convulsive delights. My first two miles were fine, then the shivers and muscle spasms began and I had all I could do to finish. I made it across in 3:04:33 while walking a good half of the run portion. The race volunteers at the end were angelic, and I actually got placed in a chair by a fellow racer whom I wish I could thank personally because he was my saving grace. I finished with my daughter in tow and it would have really shocked her for me to pass out in front of her.....so if your out there guy, thank you, from the bottom of my heart! I have recovered slowly from that one but, I will really train for the heat the next time I race in Fla, it was a definate learning experience.

Great job on your first tri, and keep up the good work!!
