Jimmy Neutron closing

Interesting that the contract with Nickelodeon is expiring... I wonder about the characters? I think that Universal will be making a mistake if they can keep the characters around but don't.

Just read that on FB. We'll have to get a few more rides in this summer - my kids love that ride! (Despite the April 1 closing date, it will be open some this summer.)

Curious to see what Universal has planned for that spot!

Hmm, I finally got around to that ride on my trip last month. I really did it for the sake of completeness, not being a big fan of Jimmy or the Nick characters in general. (I will say that his movie from about a decade ago was pretty good.) It was an okay ride.

It was one of our favorites. Can't wait to see what they replace it with.

What so you guys think this will mean for the SpongeBob meet and greet outside of the ride?? :confused3 We'll be there the 2nd weekend in April and my girls were really looking forward to seeing SB and/or Patrick! Hopefully they'll keep them around.

Jimmy Neutron is old hat as far as the show goes. But I don't think a Despicable Me themed ride will be any better. Does it really have lasting power, or are they just going to retheme this ride every once in a while, the ride theme de jour if you will?

I think it's odd for them to announce the closing but not announce what is taking its place yet...maybe there's some contract finalization or something , which could indicate it's not exactly a Universal owned property already...then again this is all just random guessing on my part

So bummed; we only got to do this once!

But it IS bumpy. DH was looking over at me and DS while we were on the ride, and out of the corner of his eye saw a woman have a fairly extreme wardrobe malfunction from the bumpiness...looked back at me and I'd crossed my arms over my chest out of fear of such a malfunction; guess she was just a millisecond too late to do the same thing!

Bring on the minions!!!

Now THAT would be fun. "It's so FLUFFY!!!!!!"

The ride is going to go down April 1st for immediate work. Think about this..it's a big building. They can be doing more work elsewhere and not touch the ride area. I think it would be a mistake (and I think everyone should voice that) if all they're going to do is a new overlay with a different theme. This ride was originally Hanna Barbera which was a pre-cursor to Back to the Future. Think about it, same concept, only taller building and more themeing.
The time has come to get rid of this ride system altogether and make something else in it's place. I'm thinking for that reason we are going to see a version of King Kong 360 that's already in place at Universal Hollywood. Of course it would be completely different, as that one is just a building which the trams go through.
This is going to have to be a completely contained ride. I hope we don't get the same thing we have now with a new paint job.

..... When I got that email, my heart kinda split, all of those cartoons are pretty much my childhood right there, its one of my favorite rides at Universal! But hey, such good things can't last forever!

I'm excited about the change coming to the park. I've kind of grown tired of IOA and spend more time at the original Universal when I go now. I'd love for them to get some newer attractions and replacing older rides like Jaws, Twister, and Jimmy Neutron.

I know change is good, kind of sad though. It was the ONE thing my 7 yr old was lookingforward to this October

:rolleyes1no messing with jaws or twister

the monster walkthru @ USH is great, would be a nice addition imo homage to haunted houses that they do so well

We'll miss it too. Always a relief to go inside the dark room and cool off after a long walk from the boats. Honestly thou, after riding it about 100x (with kids) over 3 years, I would sit in the front in the non motion seats.:confused3

This was the one ride DD DID NOT like. I'm not a big fan of Jimmy though. I wish they had more Nick Jr. characters like Kai-Lan or Olivia. Does anyone know what they are going to be replacing it with yet?
