What do you know about this restaurant? What's good to eat there? Is it a place for young children? Do I need reservations? Thank you!!

We have been there a couple of times and enjoyed it. Both times were during the day and we did not have a reservation and got in within a few minutes.

If you plan on going during a busier time you may want to make a reservation. Kids should have fun there as well, especially with the volcano.

You can check everything out at http://www.margaritavilleorlando.com/

Since we were there for lunch both times I had a sandwich but they were very good.

Is this the one in City Walk at Universal or is there another one? I don't know if you can make reservations. It does get busy in the evenings especially around the times the Universal parks close.

We love this place! Good kids menu. Jimmy Buffet music will be playing and shown on TV and large screens. In the evenings, they have someone walking around making balloon animals, hats etc for kids (and sometimes adults, too).

I like the jerk salmon and my sister likes the Cheeseburger in Paradise!

I tried to make a reservation for june 15th (my mums 60th birthday), but when I phoned up I was told I had to wait until a month before. I was wandering is it suitable for a birthday dinner?

I sooooo want to try this place! Thanks for the link! The menu looks great. We will be down for our anniversary and dd's 12th b'dy - seems like a great place to celebrate!

I absolutely love this place. If you like Buffett's music, you'll want to go to this restaurant every time you see one! If you hate his music or if you've never heard of Jimmy Buffett (shame on you!), you'll probably not be too fond of the piped-in music (100% Buffett), but you may like the atmosphere. The food is average for the price (definitely of a higher quality than what the Hard Rock Cafe offers).

The entire place is like a party. If you're able to get to Citywalk and in the restaurant before around 7:00 or so, it will likely be great for your dd's b-day. When DW and I went to Orlando for the first time, we had to go there the first night. One table was celebrating a birthday, and a guy on 6 ft stilts created the craziest balloon piece I ever saw. There were 8 people at the table...he created 8 hats (the one whose b-day it was was much larger), and then he connected all the hats together with more balloons. It took him about 15 minutes, but it was hilarious! The table took it all in good humor and actually left with it on (imagine 8 people under a balloon canopy walking around Citywalk! The later the night gets, the crazier the place gets (the margaritas start kicking in)...keep that in mind. Just make sure you are wearing flip flops and hawaiian shirts when you get in there

I think this is a good place for a birthday dinner. We celebrated my sister's 27th b-day (her DH, her dd 4 & dd 8 mths, her SIL, MIL, me & my dd 10) this mast March 12th which was a Friday night. As stated in an earlier post, they had stilt walkers doing balloon animals & hats & they made my sister a special b-day crown. At the end of dinner they brought her out a special dessert (free of charge) but for the life of me cant remember what it was, maybe strawberry shortcake ala mode, I dont know, something ala mode tho. We had a great time & everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. My daughter & I always go there for lunch for their Clipper wings but had never ordered off the entree menu. 3 of us had the coconut shrimp, when they brought out the plates we said "where's the rest of the food?" but ended up being completely stuffed by the end! Great Place & Love the lively music!!!!!

sssshhh!!! here's a secret only to be shared with the DIS families. If its crowded, walk into the side bar area (behind the check in station), if you see an open table, go for it because they are fair game & not reserved for people waiting to be seated. One time my daughter & I stopped in for dinner & were told a 60 minute wait but were told we were welcome to eat in the bar area, there were other families sitting there as well, the tables will seat up to 4 people total. High tables with high seats.

We go all the time, it's one of our favorite places to eat at Universal's City Walk.

You can call ahead for seating, but it's usually booked solid. If you can get there before 5pm you can probably get in without too long of wait. On Friday or Saturday nights, it's up to 3-4 hour waits, and yes we have waited our turn. We just sat at the bar and had a blast watching the Jimmy Buffet videos and watching the Margarita vulcano erupt!!!

It's good to know we can sit by the bar without any /much wait. We will be there in 3 days! I didn't make reservations :(

I figured we would be okay since: 1) It's a Monday the first week of May; 2) we are onsite and will use our room keys to be seated; 3) there are only two of us. I started to get nervous, though, when I was reading this thread. 3 - 4 hour waits? Yikes! We won't mind sitting by the bar at all, as long as we can still see the videos and listen to the music. In the event that there are NO tables available, can we put our name down and go outside by the airplane bar to wait? I imagine they would call/ beep us when they had a table?
Thanks for the info., I can't wait!

You'll be fine if you're on-site. The last 2 years we've been on-site and gone for dinner. Never more than a 15 minute wait and it's worth it! The theming is wonderful and I want one of those Marguaritaville lounge chairs! :p

You'll love Universal!

Was at Universal Studios in Orlando last August, and went to Margaritaville twice! I love it! In my opinion, they had the best value for the money mealwise, and as an added bonus I got a nice T-shirt for a few dollars less that what they were charging in the park!

And I'm not just sayin' this because I looove JB! ;)

My boys (6 and 9 at the time) loved it too, especially my 9 y/o! When the Volcano song started, and the big 'ol volcano started going off, his eyes got wide as saucers, then he started boogeying to his favorite Jimmy Buffett song! :D

Never been to margaritaville but am really considering this for our august trip. what exactly is the volcano?where is it? how ofter does it erupt? can you see it from everywhere? thank you.

It can be hidden from various parts of the restaurant, we could only sort of see it last time we were there. The closer you sit to it the harder it is to see since it is up high. It's over one of the bars if I recall. You really can't miss it once inside the restaurant. I think it goes off every 30 or 60 minutes.
