Jiminy's June 2015 W.I.S.H. Weight Loss Challenge!! Any and All welcome to join!!

QOTD--If I am organized I make these really easy gluten free sandwich rolls ahead of time and then have an egg sandwich in the morning. This morning I had a banana and peanut butter. :)

I am down 2.8 and 41% of the way towards my goal for the month. I do not anticipate every week being like this and I am hopeful for a pound a week going forward. :)

I will track this weekend but I am giving myself 'off' for two meals and not going to stress too much about it if I go over. We have started a tradition of going out for burgers and fries on Friday nights and breakfast on Saturdays--that's it for us for eating out. I feel comfortable in both these restaurants that I won't get sick from cross contamination. The burger place has gf fries and a gf bun. I had an aha moment last night--I am going to see if I can order a kid's burger. :) I could cut the regular one in half and throw half out, but that sounds so painful. haha. And usually we share the medium fries--tonight we are going to try sharing the small fries. Baby steps to success!

--oh and a little depressing realization--I gained 20 pounds since last March. Ugh. I knew it was bad, but didn't realize I was that low last March. Why do I keep doing this to myself??? Yes, the move was stressful--but 20 pounds in a year??? Terrible!

I am with you, I was excited today because I thought I was the lowest I had been in a few years, but looking back at MFP last July I was 4 pounds less than I am right now and I have lost 39 pounds since October. So that means that from July to October I had gained over 40 pounds

My mother called this morning to tell us about free donuts! My 7 year old answered the phone so there's no getting out of a visit now. :scared:

grab and go breakfast---yogurt cup and berries or English muffin with banana and peanut butter.

I just found this...is it too late to join? If not, I'll come back later and post a goal and a plan! :)

Hey all! So glad to hear so many responses to the breakfast question. Stay strong in the face of those free donuts!!!

Rose.... WTG on those pounds gone!!

Finny1981..... sorry about the 40 pounds found, but count them gone soon, right???

Kind of a fun day here at school but a bit crazy. Math... then field day and EARLY lunch.... then more math and a bit of language arts and now a fun movie and then back to class for a bit more language arts and then a science lesson. If we get through ALL of that and it is well done, then I promised a tiny short extra recess in the late afternoon before dismissal.

I'll come clean and say that I actually had a small gain this week.... which makes me very frustrated and sad. I STRUGGLED through May to get off a measly 1.6 or so... and now .6 of it is back. Gonna take another look at the scale tomorrow.... sometimes Saturday's weigh-in is better for some reason. I KNOW that my exercise is primarily lacking.... and I don't really eat enough. I had started adding 2 PPV worth of coconut oil to my days at the end of May and that is when I had my little losses... so I guess that is something I need to keep up with.

Time to check on the kiddos...........P

What is your go-to quick "grab-and-go" breakfast? Maybe it is not even traditional breakfast food?

Depends ... if I will have time to actually sit down and eat breakfast, greek yogurt (but the kind with lots of sugar, so not as healthy as it sounds).
If I'm actually going to be on the run, then I'll grab a granola bar and probably buy coffee while I'm out.

I stayed even this week - it's better than gaining, but not as good as losing. So I'm at 0% for week 1.

My goal is 8-10 lbs this month. I will be joining the gym with my friend next Friday and plan to meet her 3-5 times a week there. I'll be doing cardio and weights. I can't wait. I may go more often than she does. It is closer to me. We will likely have to meet in the evenings. Hopefully they will let me do an electronic payment via Visa when I read online they wanted bank checking info and I don't have that. Otherwise I may just have to set up an actual bank account which I hate the idea of but will be worth it I think to keep the weight coming off.

I'll be walking as well some days. Monday and Wednesday I usually get 15 minute walks in between clients. I can work on doing 15 minutes Tuesday and Thursday as well. But the nice increase will be the gym membership so I can work the muscles with resistance training.

This week is TOM and I forgot to weigh in this morning. I'll check in a little bit but decided it would not be recorded this week as it won't be accurate anyway. Last month I just touched my first 10% finally. Been a long time. And I saw at least one weigh in show me back in 200 club. I definitely want to see 300s gone.

Okay, my June goal is 5 lbs. and my plan is to cut back on soft drinks, coffee, and sweets, eat more veggies, and do more walking every day, eventually working up to running. I'm going to cut coffee back to one cup a day (no cold turkey here, lol!) from 2 cups, cut my beloved Dr. Pepper back to one cheat day a week (right now it's almost daily--yikes!!) and go for fruits/veggies for snacks instead of sweet treats--chocolate candy is my nemesis! For walking, I'd like to try to get out early or late enough to use our awesome greenbelt when it isn't 90+ degrees out, but when I don't make that I'll do a couple miles of one of several Walk Away the Pounds videos I have. I'm making my goal 4x per week, but will actually shoot for daily, either walking outdoors or by video.

The backstory...lol! I've never had any real issues with my weight, although I'm at the higher end of "normal/healthy" weight range for my height. In the interest of full disclosure I'm 5'8" and currently 165 lbs. Last February we were still living in NY and went on a family cruise...we came back (after much colder than normal temps) and found that our heat system had failed and our house subsequently flooded and 2 levels of our house had to be stripped down to studs. For 3 weeks we lived in a hotel eating all meals in restaurants, before temporarily relocating to South Texas to be closer to family while our house was rebuilt. Between the cruise and the weeks of restaurant meals, I gained 10 lbs. and got to TX at 168. We joined a gym, were super committed to going three times a week, I did lots of work out videos, biking and swimming with my kids, etc. and lost the 10 by mid summer. Then we sold our house in NY, bought our house in central TX, and in the busyness of transition, etc. I developed terrible habits--mostly eating/drinking waaaay too much sugar and becoming quite couch potato-like. So I'm 7 lbs. over where I was last summer, and want to see it GONE for good, as well as lose a little bit more...I think an ideal weight for me would be about 150. I'd like to get close to that by the end of the summer, and DEFINITELY well before our WDW trip in December! I do NOT want to be huffing and puffing walking around the parks all day!!!

Anyway, thanks for welcoming me and I look forward to getting fit together! :)

I'd like to join! I've been lurking for a couple months now and I need some support as my oreo eating, skinny husband doesn't understand the frustrations!

My goals are to lose 5lbs this month and to touch my face less! I'm so bad at resting my chin on my hand that my acne is just out of control.

I plan on losing the 5lbs by working out at least 3 times a week and cutting out desserts on weeknights. I am a sugar addict and every night around 8pm my sweet tooth starts calling for anything and everything. I use MFP and sometimes I have extra calories for sweets at night but I figure that I'd rather eat more of the healthy stuff than just a little taste of the bad stuff.

This sounds just like me. Since I started the June challenge, I have been replacing my usual late evening sweets with fruit or even just water. So far so good, but it is still early in the month.

Good luck!

Sorry I've been MIA again, guys. We've had a second very sudden death in the family within two weeks that we're trying to get through. I'll be back soon as I can

Sorry for your loss.

I am down 2lbs this week for 25% of my goal.

Oh and my fave grab n go breakfast is a s'mores pop-tart ( which is my problem since I need to eat healthier this for me!)

I don't have much of an update since I joined late, but I'm happy with my progress so far. I dug out my UP24 band that I haven't used since we moved last fall, and have logged over 10,000 steps/day for the past 3 days now. I've met my goal of cutting back coffee to one cup a day, and haven't had a Dr. Pepper in those 3 days either. Those are big first steps for me! :) Hopefully the scale agrees, but it's really too early to tell. It's showing like half a lb. lost, but I know it fluctuates so I'm waiting for a whole number hopefully before the 1 week mark!

A little late, but I want in on this.

I have to lose at least ten pounds (from where I was at the last appointment) before I see the orthopedic surgeon again on July 6. He moved it from June 17.

I am so close to achieving a big milestone, but keep gaining back 3 -4 pounds after I have lost it.

I am in a lot of pain today, in addition to dealing with the usual knee issues, I also did something to my outer calf muscle on Friday. Alignment I think - needed new shoes (which I got) and new orthotics (this week). Left arch non existent.

I need to do this. I am so scared that I am just not going to be able to walk anymore.

Husband and I want to take a big vacation end of next year to use up the Air Miles before they expire, but my mobility is a big concern.

Wait lists are very long here for knee replacement.

And to top it off, the diet clinic I was attending closed down when the doctor moved to Scotland!

I have a good digital scale, but I need help...

Tonight I had to refuse to watch a movie with him, I was so upset and he was too.

But I was afraid I could not get off the couch, too low with this calf.

I need the support.

Just stopping in to post that I hope everyone had a great weekend and to keep up the good work! :cheer2:

If you didn't, maybe you fell off the wagon so to speak (I did on Saturday) or are dealing with an injury, a personal matter, haven't found the right motivation yet, whatever the case may be just remember ...

There's a great big beautiful tomorrow,
Shining at the end of everyday!

:sunny:

Just coming to check in... No losses here. :( Hoping for a much, much better week this week!

I joined a gym this morning and my DH and I bought bikes today. So now everyone has a bike to ride! Family Fun Day now has new options!!
