I just heard that Jim Best passed away this morning from a heart attack. It is so surreal since I just talked to him yesterday. He was a good friend and will be missed.

If anyone hears of any arrangements, please email me at
mscyn1@sbcglobal.net. There are many of us looking for this information.

Thanks

Cyn

I am posting for myself and on behalf of KathieD and her husband Frank, Leighton as well as Kim. As close and dear friends of Jim's we are deeply saddened by his passing and appreciate all of your kind thoughts and wishes. KathieD is on her way to Orlando to start making arrangements. As soon as we have more information regarding these arrangements we will update the post.

4/1/05 Update: KathieD & Frank will be at the Contemporary tonight. They will try to answer any questions. Information is slow in coming but they will share what they know and would love to reminisce with everyone. Wish I could be there to share in the memories.

We would like to Thank each and everyone of you that posted here and called me and Leighton and Jen. Jim was a great and Dear Friend of ours. He was the big brother that I never had and a BEST Bud to Frank. I sit here at his computer and look around me waiting for him to come in and say"OK, now Tell me, what is new on Diz****"? You would of thought that this was the first time he was hearing what was new for the day but noooooooo, he had already talked to Jen on the phone and just waiting for me to show him the pictures of the pins!LOL, then he would laugh at me and say "I already knew what was coming out"!!! Typical Jim.
He had a phone tree going here at WDW so when a surprise pin came out he was running to get them.
Jim had so many pin friends I do not have enough fingers or toes to count them but I do know that each and every one of them Loved him.
He had a special place in heart for so many children he traded with. He loved trading them for lanyard pins LOL!!
I can tell you all that when Jim passed away he was doing what he loved to do best! Pins, Pins and more pins!!! lol
We hope to see many of you this evening at the Contemp, we will be there after dinner and please don't be afraid to come up to us we would love to talk about Jim and all his escapades!
I will give you all as much information as I have as I get it.
As of right now his remains are being sent to our town of Largo which is in Pinellas County right up the street from where we live. No services have been set as of yet but I will inform all when I am told.
I am contact with Jim's family up north helping to take care all I can from his home here in Davenport.
Once again we all thank you for the kind words and I will try to get back to all that have called me.
Happy Pin Trading To All- Remember when thinking about Jim Put a big Smile on your face

What sad news. My thoughts and prayers are with all his friends and family.

I will miss Jim a lot. I really enjoyed just talking with him....

There are many of us who would like to make it to the memorial service for Jim on Saturday but will not be able to. Does anyone know an address to which we can send cards or condolence letters?
I would love to be making the trip down with Cyn but it will not be possible. Our trips to FL just won't be the same without him around.

Mary - Kathie D is getting some me names and addresses and I will post when I get them.

I am at a loss for words. I just met Jim during our last trip down (3 weeks ago) an amazing man. He will definitely be missed by all.

His love for Disney and for pins were amazing!

If anyone is coming down for the funeral I would love to meet you. My husband and I will be there as well. Kathie, Frank, and Jim's family will be thankful to have you in attendance.

We had Easter dinner at Jim's house the weekend before he passed and I was able to witness Jim's love for pins first hand. I always knew he had a lot of pins - but oh my goodness! We joked around about how every peice of furniture was filled with pins.

Jim was such a funny guy - he was able to relate to pretty much anyone - I am almost 40 years younger then Jim, yet he was still a friend. It is amazing how one person could have so many friends from all over the country. It is something that we can all learn from.
