Thursday day 6

I woke up at 5.00am and realised this was our last day :sad1:
On the plus side my tummy felt OK so I hoped everyone else would have recovered as well. I dozed for an hour then got up and collected all the nice little extras from the room, postcards of the NPB, notepaper, soaps etc - I collect everything, then I went for a quiet walk around the hotel, it was lovely at this time in the morning, before the crowds and it gave me chance to have a good look around and get some photos of the details at the hotel, which you kind of miss when you've got the family with you.

Back to the room and packed away the last few bits & pieces and phoned consierge to collect our luggage. We had another wonderful breakfast at the Captain's Quarters - I can't recommend this enough. Pinched some breakfast rolls and went outside to feed the ducks and geese on the lake, we were even graced with the presence of a beautiful swan and I can happily report that they all looked fit and well.
Today was the day for my early birthday celebrations, it was a beautiful day, a little colder than the previous, but Ann, Jamie and me decided to go on Panoramagique.

What a view and I couldn't believe how smooth the ride was - well worth the entrance fee.
At the Disney Village they were setting up for the St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

We had one or two more things to do in the Studios and headed straight for Cinemagique, it was the first showing of the day and fairly empty, we sat in about the 4th row from the front, I miscounted the seats so we were 8 in from the aisle, I couldn't believe it when the guy from the film came and asked Matt was the seat next to him taken, bearing in mind there were rows and rows of empty seats in the theatre, of course I recognised him straight away and pointed it out to the others. But I could see from Matt's face he thought this guy was a nutter, well you'd have to be really to wear a corduroy suit like his or perhaps a geography teacher, no offence to any geography teachers on here.
We love this show and even Jessie enjoyed it especially getting the occasional splashes and everyone was in awe of the effects especially the sword at the end.
Matt & Ann wanted to do Armageddon, so we went for a wander, found the motobike (another forum secret)

Then we rushed over to the Narnia set but the White Witch was just leaving, I managed to snap a quick photo of her

but it was far too cold to hang around waiting for her to return, so we consoled ourselves with the fact that we'd had a photo taken on the set previously, albeit without the witch.

Jamie & Matt rode RnR again and we caught the end of Cinefollies.
It was bitterly cold today and Jessie decided she didn't like her "Dale" hat anymore and much preferred mine. Although it was the park's 4th birthday I didn't notice anything special going on.

I called into the DLH on the way back for a quick nosey and a few pics, it's very nice but I thought the NPB reception area looked more impressive, but I'm biased.
We rode BTM and PM again and then it was over to the Blue Lagoon, for my birthday meal, I'd cancelled the birthday cake as I'd just thrown half of Liam's away. We were a little late for our reservation and the CM tapped her watch when I explained that the Playful Spooks over at PM had been exceptionally mischievous and disrupted our journey 3 times she laughed. All week I had been meaning to go and request a table on the beach, but kept forgetting so it was a wonderful surprise to find
we'd been allocated one, we had great fun waving to the POTC riders. Our hostess was wonderful, some CM's just know how to make you feel special - she got an extra big tip. Jamie and I are now addicted to non-alcoholic cocktails, we tried several during our stay but the one we had in here was definately the best.
Jessie was busting by now, she'd been sworn to secrecy but couldn't contain it any longer and she gave me her present a Musical Mickey Mouse Birthday hat which of course I wore for the rest of the day and the journey home.

Sorry, that is an awful photo of me, I'm hoping Ann has a better one. Micey Mouse is bursting out of the top of the cake and when you press one of the spots it sings Happy Birthday. Rob and the boys gave me my present, the collectors edition of "From Sketch to Reality" in English, they knew I wouldn't have justified spending the money on a book for me it was a wonderful surprise and I can't think of a nicer present and then Ann & Matt's present a mounted and framed limited edition Maleficent pin surrounded by some pencil sketches of her. Maleficent in case you didn't know is my absolute favourite character, the Princesses are nice but Maleficent - what a woman! and the ultimate Disney Villain.
Back to the meal and Matt and I had the Grilled fillet of beef with Jamaican pepper and potatoes with preserved lemons, Rob & Ann had the Colonial chicken curry with coconut petals. This was most definately the best meal I had during our stay, everything about it was perfect and absolutely delicious.
For dessert Ann and I shared "The sugar coated expedition" and Matt had the Creme Brulee, Rob passed on dessert, despite the fact that my 2 had both had the Corsair's chicken from the teenagers menu there wasn't a problem with them having The Chef's Surprise from the Kids menu for dessert and this was a big hit,, how often do you get to mess about with your food in a restaurant.

To this - Jamie's masterpiece

I think the look on these 2's faces says it all really.

Thankyou Elaine (Ware Bears) it was your recommendations that made me book the Blue Lagoon, I had the best Birthday of my life, the atmosphere, the food, the presents from my wonderful family - it was all perfect and a superb way to end the holiday.
There was time for one more ride and BTM was the vote winner, Jessie and I sat on a bench and watched the Frontierland world go by for the last time, for a little while anyway. Then it was back to the station to collect our bags and the trip to Ashford.
Thanks to everyone on this forum - all your hints and tips, little secrets & recommendations helped make this trip extra special. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Forgot to ask Reid, but would you add it to the Trip Reports Index for me,
Thanks,
Jill :)

jill that looks like a wonderful meal, we couldn't get into the blue lagoon, another reason i want to go back. and matt enjoyed the balloon flight as well, but i stayed down on the ground with emma, matt didn't take any photos so yours made me think i didn't miss out on anything.

Thank you for your trip report and your great great great pictures! The NPBC is my second favourite hotel!

Really enjoyed reading all of your trip reports. Felt very nostalgic over the photo of HNY from the balloon. I shall try and remember about that chefs dessert in case we ever eat there.

Excellent trip reports, thank you for taking the time to write them. Glad you had a good birthday.

How cool to be sat next to the suited man in Cinemagique! It was my first time to the show and the penny didn't drop until he was chased onto the stage !!

Your children are real little artists:)
