Jiko????

I have reservations at Boma's in Dec. and am considering trying Jiko's instead (I feel like a traitor). I am traveling solo with my 3 year old son (who usually does very well going out to eat), but am wondering if it's the type of place the two of us could enjoy. Or should I stay with my tried and true buffet, Bomas?!?? Thanks!

We have dined at Jiko's both with and without the kids. They were 5 & 6 when we went with them.We had a high back oversized booth to sit in which they loved. They enjoyed the breads, one of my DD also ordered a vege/type kids appetizer which she thought was fanastic. I forgot what they ordered from the kids meal - check menu site for what they offer. I am sure someone has address....(Deb Wills site) We have never been to Boma, but I can tell you I love Jiko's food and my kids did not feel out of place. They eat out often and know how to behave at restaurants - though now they enjoy going to the kids clubs to have their own fun!

You should definately give it a try. If the 3 year old is used to going out to eat with you he probably already has good restaurant behavior.

Jiko is fabulous, a nice place for the two of you to relax at the end of a busy day. I say go for it. If he gets restless you can always ask your server to pack your meal to go and take him back to your room.

I think I would do Jiko. I absolutely love Boma, but as a single mom, I've gotta say, buffets can be difficult logistically. You can't really leave a 3-year-old at the table... so you have to take them (and your purse/valuables) with you through the buffet every time you want something. Not only that, but if you are working on filling up two plates, you can't really hold your child's hand as well. This gets easier with every passing year, but it's still a pain sometimes.
