I know that Jiko is known for it's African wine selection. DH and I have no plans to eat there, but what I was wondering is can we go there and buy just a bottle of wine? My in-laws are wine drinkers and I thought this might be something a little different to bring back for them.

I can't answer your question about Jiko; but, almost any liquor store in the country will carry a large selection of African wines. South Africa is a major producer of wine.

My Rite-Aid has over 10 brands of wine from Africa.

Last time we were there I purchased 2 bottles of wine after dinner.

Animal Kingdom Lodge has a great store off the lobby. I think I recall seeing various African wines available for sale there.

Also, don't forget that lots of wines are sold in the shops of World Showcase from France, Italy and Germany. Anything from those stores would likely please a wine enthusiast, too.

Thanks for all of your help. The in-laws just aren't into Disney as much as we are and it's always challange to find something to bring back for them.

They probably won't let you take it out unopened as that is a different liquor license. It doesn't hurt to ask. Also remember that if you are flying you have to check the wine and I know many people who have travelled with wine in their suitcase and had the wine break wrecking the contents of the suitcase. 1 person acutally had it leak out and wreck other suitcases and the airlines found him liable for replacement. Honestly, like other posters said S. African wine is by no means hard to find. Also don't forget that wine is extremely temperture sensitivea couiple of hours at florida temps could potentially damage the wine.

Buy a t-shirt it will be easier :)

May I suggest if you can get wine from there getting the
Delheim Gewürztraminer
BEST WINE WE'VE EVER HAD. Like a Resiling, semi sweet no after taste.
Our perfect wine.
or at Germany pick up one of the wines made by
GRAF (they have like 4 varieties)
The very nice fruity taste. Without the strong alcohol taste.

Agreed that flying & wine may not work. Perhaps you could buy one of the nice WDW cookbooks with Jiko recipes, then buy a SA wine from your local store. You can even get a copy of the Jiko winelist, see if your local shop has or can order one of those. FWIW.

Last year we brought back 3 bottles of wine from EPCOT in our luggage with no problems. And boy were they delish!:lovestruc :lovestruc

Go for it!
