Jiko Wine List

Hey folks, I need a little help. We ate at Jiko this past weekend on a Spring Break Trip and I had a glass of Cabernet that was really some kind of good. It was cedarburg or something like that. I'd really like to see if I can find it somewhere and buy a bottle or two. But I can't remember the exact name of the wine.

I've looked online to try and find a copy of the wine list, but haven't had any luck. Anybody have a list or know where I can see one to find out the name of this wine?

I had a wonderful wine that had ""Chocolate" in the title. But I don't remember the rest. It was smooth and warm and delightful. Any help out there?

Ooh good question! My parents both had a glass of this sauvignon blanc that had a grapefruit flavor or something? My mama let me have a sip while dad was in the bathroom (he would've freaked otherwise!!) and it was delish!! anyways, they forgot the name of the wine and told me to "go on your message board and ask" haha so here I am! if anyone knows or if you find the wine list, please let me know!

Maybe The Chocolate Block by Boekenhoutskloof? Other guesses could be Rustenberg or Roodeberg. Found this site too, maybe it can help you search. FWIW.

Chocolate Block! That's it! I'm going to ask my friendly local wine shop owner if he can get it. It was recommended by the CM at the bar while we waited for our table. I was very pleased. Although I enjoyed the food at Jiko, it wasn't great. But I still remember the wine.

Thanks John - that's the one! I've found them online and can actually make orders for it - I was surprised at how cheap it was!! Don't tell my wife! Now just have to figure out if I can have them shipped to Georgia!

Just an update - I found a local wine store that carries Nederburg. They didn't have any of the Cabernet, said it was a slow mover. But he would order a case and hold it for me to buy as much as I wanted. So I started to feel bad and wanted to make sure I had the absolute right one. I called Jiko and left a message for someone to call me back. They did. The wine is actually "Cederberg" from South Africa. I called the guy back and told him to not order a case, but he is going to check into Cederberg.

Here's the decription...

Succulent and elegant! The sweet cassis, tobacco, minty herbaceous nose makes a splendid introduction. The full rich palate is seriously structured. The 2003 has a classic Cabernet complexity of black currant and spice nuances backed by fine juicy tannins.


I'm telling y'all - it was some kind of good!!

Thanks for all the help - I am still going to try the Nederberg. The guy said he would probably order some anyway. Get this - Nederburg was $10.99 at the store, and online the price for Cederberg was $28.99. Of course I would like it more!

I believe it's actually in the $25-30 if you can find it in a wine store.

If you like Chocolate Block, try to find Cafe Culture Pinotage. OMG is it good!
