Jiko will be our Signature experience...?

Just finished making some ADRs. We are arriving very late our first night so end up with an "extra" TS credit to use on a signature restaurant. I have an ADR booked for Jiko, we are looking forward to it, and happy to be getting a chance to visit AKL for the first time.

As I second and third guess all of my plans constantly, I am wondering if this is a good move? Is Jiko a good use of Signauture credits? How was your experience there? (If there was a menu item that was exceptionally good, let me know that too!) If you think there is a much better Signature experience, please let me know that as well!

Thanks for the input!!!

We have been to Jikos' 3 times and everyone has always LOVED it! By far one of the best Disney has to offer. Always had excellent food and service.

Enjoy!

Jiko is my favorite restaurant on property. Ask for Nassar as your server.

Love Jiko. The filet with hominy risotto and red wine reduction is wonderful - I can't bring myself to order anything else. And the coconut bread pudding was to die for!

Jiko is great and well worth the money and/or DDP credits.

I disagree with the pp though, I think the filet is their weakest dish. Everything else is amazing though.

I highly recommend the Taste of Africa (breads and dips) and the Wild Boar Tenderloin apps.

Another vote for Jiko. Love it and eat there just about every night we stay at AKL/AKV. The bar is a great experience and the food is unique and wonderful.

The mac n cheese is spectacular and the flat bread appetizers are worth trying. Plus you have the grounds and night viewing of the animals.

Underwhelmed by the filet. Everything else was great.

Jiko is my favorite Disney restaurant. I can't speak to whether it's a good use of credits because I don't use the dining plan. (I tend to eschew the dining plans because I prefer signature restaurants and I don't know whether they're a good use of credits. I do think that if any signature restaurant is worth two credits, though, it's Jiko.)

I'm not an adventurous eater. Their take on the filet was about as adventurous as I get. But if you've never tried it with the hominy risotto (as opposed to the mac & cheese they used to serve with it) I suggest you give it another try. I would have been happy with a big bowl of the risotto.

We dined at Jiko while there in 2008 for our honeymoon and we gave it mixed reviews. I thought it was to die for, while my husband didn't care for it. I fully believe it was because he ordered things he had never tried and just didn't like his meal, while I ordered the fillet and mac and it was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend it! We will be returning to Jiko in May!
