I know Boma is a buffet and Jiko is a sit down dinner- but besides those differences what seperates the two?

Which do yall prefer if you had to pick one?

THANKS! :disrocks:

Well besides the huge difference in one being a buffet and the other being a signature dining restaurant at Disney, the differences between the two:

1. Atmosphere. Jiko is upscale, has a wine room with a huge selection of Afican wines, is dark, intimate, mainly adult only dining. Food is supherb in both preparation and presentation. Although the appetizers are very unique, the entrees are standard fare, short ribs, filet mignon, etc. Dining here is leisurely, our last meal in January took 2 hours.

2. Variety. Boma offers to much more choices and although there are several dishes that are not "extreme" this place does offer quite a few African themed dishes, more than Jiko does. It provides the opportunity to experiment; you can get a spoonful of something and if you don't like it, you can just not eat it and can return to the buffet tables for something else.

We love both of these places. I would pick Jiko everytime for a dinner with just DH and I or with friends. I would pick BOMA everytime if it's a family meal.

Thank you very much- that's the sort of information I was looking for :)

We enjoyed Boma, but have never tried Jiko.
Jiko is 2 TS credits if using the DDP, and they also have a "business casual" dress code.
Boma is 1 TS credit.

I have to agree with Pakey wholeheartedly. Each restaurant has its merits, and we make it a point to get to at least one of them each trip. The last few times we've gone to Jiko, but this year we're headed to Boma. It's not because of a bad experience last time, but the menu at Jiko just doesn't seem to change all that much from year to year, and this time we're looking for a little more variety. And believe me, if variety is your thing, it's hard to beat Boma!

You really can't go wrong either way. I'm sure you'll have a great time.:thumbsup2

We went to Jiko once and have been to Boma on just about every trip. I had high hopes for Jiko, but was very disappointed. The food was ok, not great and our server was rather standoff-ish. We love Boma though. There are so many different foods available and we have never been disappointed.

We are the opposite of F1Julie, We've been to dinner at Boma once, but we eat at Jiko EVERY trip - we are thinking of eating there twice on our next trip (its long - 15 days).

We just didn't care for Boma dinner - love Boma breakfast - but the dinner has a spice that really doesn't set well with me, and it is in a lot of the choices. The buffet seems way crowded at night too. We actually made ressies to eat there twice the looked at the chaos when we arrived and walked over to Jiko to see if we could be seated, they said yes and we canceled our Boma. That's the night we fell in love with Jiko.

Jiko has a wonderful menu, lots of varied choices, fish and meats (beef, pork, lamb, chicken), good appetizer choices, amazing flat breads, and a wonderful wine list.

To us there is no comparison between the two restaurants and we much prefer Jiko to Boma
