Jiko recommendations?

It all sounds delicious, but I'd like to hear what everyone likes best(entree, app, and dessert).

I'm having Le Cellier the next day, so I'd prefer not to go Filet back-to-back, but if that's clearly the best Jiko entree, I'll just have to take one for the team and steak it up for two days.

The wild boar appetizer is amazing and my absolute favorite, we also like to split the Taste of Africa.

For entrees DH loves the filet (always gets it with either the regular or now the bobotie mac and cheese). I love the fish in tomato butter sauce (the actual fish used rotates, but I have enjoyed them all).

Can't help with dessert, we are usually too full after a bottle of wine, apps, entrees, and a Zebratini.

Appetizer:Taste Of Africa
Main Course: Elk Loin
Desert: Safari Sunset

I've never been disappointed in any of the appetizers or entrees and I've been to Jiko at least 5 or 6 times. Always excellent. Desserts, on the other hand, have always been disappointing so I no longer get desserts there.

appetizer flatbreads to share then short rib and then any of the desserts although usually chocolate

Do NOT have the halibut. It was so dry and tasteless. DH and I went there in October-he had the filet, which he raved about, but I had the halibut, which I was extremely disappointed in. The server made recommendations, and he didn't mention the halibut, which should have been my clue. However, I had my heart set on it.

We had the lamb and bison when we were there (not sure if these are still on the menu, they change frequently). Both were great.

we had dinner there last week.......Get the boar appetizer and the filet main course!!!!!

The experience was worth every penney!!!! One of our faves at WDW!!!!!

Another vote for the wild boar. So good!:tigger: I enjoyed the filet and my husband loved the elk.

Can't wait for our trip in September, Jiko is on the top of my list.

Inguday Tibs in Brik or any of the flatbreads
Botswana Seswaa-style Beef Short Rib or Oak-grilled Filet Mignon
Sweet Potato Cheesecake

How about getting something different at LC instead? Or even giving up on LC since you'll be spoiled by Jiko.

We have always loved whichever fish is served with tomato butter. The short ribs are divine. DH always orders the filet with mac n cheese.

That's disappointing! :( I've had the halibut once and also the monkfish with the tomato butter sauce and they were both amazing. I plan on doing it again on our May trip. Hopefully it will be okay.

Yes, I'd had the halibut a few years ago (I think that's what's with the tomato butter), and at that time it was delicious. I couldn't wait to have it again. That's why I ignored our server when he recommended certain items, and although he mentioned most of the menu, he did't mention the halibut. Perhaps it was an off night for the halibut, but I should have listened to him and what he didn't say!

Another vote here for the wild boar appetizer and the elk tenderloin entree. After my meal there on my last trip, Jiko became a “must-do” for me from now on.

We just ate at Jiko last week and DH and I both got the filet and mac n' cheese, but my absolute favorite part of the meal was those brussel sprouts. I'm still thinking about those, they were sooooo good! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

I'm going for the first time in August and had already planned on the wild boar and elk - so this thread is making me feel all sorts of confident/excited!
