Jiko quetion any input would be great.

I can not decide what to order at Jiko the Filet with mac and cheese or the bbq braised short rib. The deciding factor would be on the sauces.

Is the bbq sauce on the short rib a sweet/tangy/spicey kind of thing or more of a beefy onion type flavor. I prefer sweet/spicey and probably wouldnt like beefy/oniony taste sauce.

What does the red wine sauce taste like? tart, sweet or neither. LOL.

I am drooling over the menu right now.

It's been a while since I've had the short ribs. The sauce did not taste like anything I have ever had before. It was delicious. I could have licked my plate. I would classify it as sweet/tangy not beefy/onion.

It says onion but I definitely remember a sweet taste. Hopefully they haven't changed the sauce because it was sooooo good.

I've also had the filet which was good but I was not particularly fond of the mac & cheese. I like mac & cheese, I just didn't care for the taste of the mac at Jiko's.

When I had the short ribs they were sweet and tangy, but I don't remember any mushrooms and onions then either. The filet w/ mac & Cheese is fabulous, the sauce is kinda sweet....its delicious! I liked both but the filet is superior in my opinion.

I had no restraint - I did lick the plate, and my fingers, and the bowl with the extra sauce...

The BBQ sauce not beefy / onion. Does have interesting spices a very unique flavor.

I'm with you on that....good thing its not on the room service menu for the cruise....we would never leave our cabin!!

DH and I will be dining there in May, post-podcast cruise, for the first time! I already know that I will be ordering the filet and mac n cheese! Have no idea what DH will order though...

I am not a mac-n-cheese person, but the Jiko version, I could eat by the bowl fulls.

Either way you can't go wrong.
