Jiko or California Grill?

I know they are different cuisines, yada yada yada. But if you had the choice, where would you go? And why?

I'm trying to decide if we'll go to Jiko after a day at Animal Kingdom, or do Animal Kingdom, go back to the hotel, nap, and then go to Caliornia Grill for a later dinner.

I love Cali Grill...the food and atmosphere are wonderful This trip though, we're going to be staying one night at AKL and we're lucky enough to have booked the Jiko's wine pairing dinner

From what I've read, Jiko's is just as good as Cali Grill but if you're looking for a little more oomph,make a ps for cali grill during MK fireworks...it makes for a spectacular dinner

Can you walk to Jiko from AK?

I had to make the same choice last week - I had PS's at both Jiko and CG, and had to cancel one because I would have ran out of credits on my dining plan.

I chose CG because I was staying at the Contemporary. It was good and had an interesting menu and wine list. The cuisine was a little less adventureous than Jiko, and my wife is a little picky.

As I said in another post, the menu at CG changes often - the main course selections were nothing like any of the sample menus I found online.

If you like sushi, go to CG. They had several sushi (and sashimi) selections on their menu as appetizers.

No, you can't really walk from AK to Jiko, sorry.

I'd pick Jiko over California Grill. We've done Jiko 5-6 times, CG 3 times, and the food and service at Jiko is always better than CG.

Jiko is our favorite place at WDW. Great food, wine list and service. IMO, a more elegant experience than CG. Both are great, but I prefer Jiko.

Jiko would win my vote also. We have eaten at both, but Jiko's service and quality were better in mho. Loved the wine at Jiko that was suggested by our server. Our server at CG didn't really interact with us. At Jiko, we had conversations about food, wine, etc. much more than "Can I take your order?"

That being said, we did enjoy CG even though we didn't get to see fireworks when we were there. I have an incredible pic of my daughter looking out toward the castle at sunset. We will go back to CG on a future trip...but Jiko will be every trip.

CG - love the service, the food, the view....

Jiko is nice too but I personally like CG better.

California Grill is really wonderful!

It sure is, I am lucky enough to be spending my first wedding anniversary there. However, I am also lucky to be going to Jiko and Citricos as wee, although I have never done these two before.
